Lots of people do, doesn't mean it doesn't effect the taste of the fish. That acid build up is the main cause of the "fishyness", puts a lot of people off to the taste of fish. It really doesn't matter to me, it all taste nasty regardless of how it's handled/prepared

KDWPT posted on their Facebook page yesterday a guy was caught with 18 wipers over his limit. He was fined $208, not per fish, total. Didn't lose his gear, didn't lose his license, he got a speeding ticket for being a dozen and a half fish over his limit. $11.55 per fish, you can't get it fresh from the grocery store for that much. So basically if you're wanting to poach some fish come to Kansas, the state obviously isn't too worried about it.

I put a stinger treble on a 68 Hudd once. I was really impressed with how well it stuck that laydown that it's still stuck on for all I know.

Berkley's hardbaits (the war pig, cutter 110+, and wild thang mostly), and their new soft bait in the Havoc lineup (the Change up I think?). Live Target hollow bluegill Savage Gear Shine Glide (and only $25?!) Savage Gear mayfly nymph (I'm thinking the fish will be as hypnotized by those wiggling legs as I was). Duo Realis new glide swimbait, all their stuff is quality and has been winners for me so really excited about that bait.

If I was going to go to Table Rock between April and June, I'd go in March. April will almost certainly be your best bet, weather permitting. They'll be eating a variety of baits and potentially be thinking about spawning, again depending on the weather. Jerkbait, wart, spinnerbait, ned rig, and swinging football head should all be good.

The faster you can get them on ice the better they will taste. Leaving them in the livewell or dragging them around on a stringer stresses the fish and causes acid to build up in the fillets.

I've been using the Zman Batwingz as my go to jig trailer for almost a year now. Durability is great and the fact that the claws float up is nice too. The Zman Turbo CrawZ is a good option if you want some more action in your trailer. Old school pork trailers are great also. I seem to catch bigger fish when I fish pork at times.

I'd make sure you have them and that netting them is legal first. If both of those are a go, chum the water with bread crumbs until you see the shiners start schooling and feeding, then just toss your net on them. We did this at my buddies pond and caught dozens of big shiners in just a few throws each time.

I'm assuming you're bagging them? Can't think of any other way to keep livers on a hook to get them under a dock. I use a 7' MH Ugly Stick Lite spinning rod and Okuma Avenger 30 baitfeeder with 30lb PP and skip chunks of cutbait under overhangs and docks.

No, that's a St. Croix Pro Glass cranking rod. Best squarebill rod I've ever owned but unfortunately they quit making them several years ago. I was lucky enough to pick that one up off another member a few years back after my buddy broke mine.

Xcalibur used to make a couple different jerkbaits, a couple different rattle baits, poppers, walkers, they were all great. I believe the company is being absorbed into the Booyah name now though since the rattle baits and poppers are both gone and reintroduced under the Booyah lineup.

You timed that well, I just took 40 of them in there yesterday morning including 2 new colors that have been doing well for me this year. I'm not sure if he has and of the Diesel MinnowZ but I've been doing great with those on the back of my baits this year. Like has also been mentioned, a Rage Menace grub rigged on it's side has a really cool action on a bladed jig.

Took a couple guys fishing at one of my favorite little lakes a few weeks ago and one of them was doing well with a frog. He had a fish boil and pull the frog under, a full sized hollow bodied frog mind you, and it ended up being a monster warmouth that had the entire back half of the frog in his mouth! I've seen big greenies and warmouths eat some big baits, but never seen one almost get an entire frog in their mouth. You couldn't swim in a lake if they got to 20 pounds.

alwayshungry, welcome to the site and that's a heck of a first post. You make some valid points about the pure stopping power of birdshot. Your examples seem like they would best apply to what we call a very motivated attacker, someone with no other motive than to cause you or someone else severe bodily harm or death. In those cases we'll often have drugs, alcohol, mental illness, or a combination involved. In those situations you're correct that you have to stop the bodies ability to function completely to stop the threat as a motivated attacker will not stop until they're unable to continue on or until they've completed their goal. Your more typical home invader that is looking to burglarize a dwelling most likely isn't going to continue on with an attempted attack after just the sight or sound of a shotgun, let alone being ripped open by a shotgun blast. I like the shotgun for home defense because it doesn't pass through walls like a handgun or rifle round will. Most of your deadly encounters inside a home are going to be at extremely close distances, less than 10' in most cases. Even at that distance, under the mountain of stress and emotions that a person is going through, it's amazingly easy for the average person to miss an entire human being when firing a single projectile. A shotgun's spread will be very small at that distance, but still a slightly larger area and pellets that miss their intended target will stop in furniture or the wall. I would encourage someone who chooses to use a handgun for home to defense to be extremely proficient with it and be mentally aware of where anyone else in the house will be at all times. I'd rather see someone using something I'd consider overkill than nothing at all though. Like the saying goes "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away". My shotgun at home has staggered rounds, along with the .40 with several loaded mags on my side of the bed and .380 on my wife's side, so I see the value in having options

I'm using a 7' 3" H/F Ethos from Academy. Got it on sale for $59 and it's the best frog rod I've owned. Lots of power but loads well to fire a frog a long ways. It has micro guides which I like to help with cast control so I can hit spots under a dock or overhanging tree. It makes a good pitching rod as well.
