  1. Look at the Irod Fiber Fred's Magic Stick or 744 junk rod
  2. Irod Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick. Everything you want in an all around multi purpose heavy rod.
  3. My recommendation is look at the Fuego LT for $99 or the Exceler LT for $79. Both are at 7.2oz and will be excellent reels with good new tech. Shimano's are good, but are d**n near 1.5-2oz heavier in all models until you spend $200. http://www.daiwa.com/us/image/top/LT_Reels.pdf Honestly though, either brand you won't be disappointed.
  4. Irod Genesis II 6102 for light jerkbaits Irod Genesis II 703 for 100's on up
  5. What he said. The Alphas SV SLP Works spools are awesome
  6. Irod Fiber 754. Fred's Magic Stick. Don't know if i would go shorter. I suppose a 7'2" H might work if it had the right action.
  7. I'm using a 733 fast for jigs under a 1/2oz and a 764 fast for jigs a 1/2oz and over.
  8. I would think a coated braid might work. Other than that, mono or copoly as others suggested.
  9. I use it for 5XDs and 6XDs. I don't crank a ton so my experience is more limited. I bought the JR because i couldn't justify a 7'11"h CRANKBAIT rod in the boat where I live.
  10. Daiwa Zillion/Tatula 5.1-6.3 IRG7113CC “Fred’s Crank Launcher” Fred designed this rod for deep diving cranks but will work with mid divers and larger shallow divers. Not your usual crank rod, this rod is all graphite and is not whippy and soft like others. It’s tip is strong enough to drive in a hook set yet forgiving enough to play the fish without ripping out the hooks. It will also cast any crank bait a country mile which is needed to get the big cranks down deep. Length:7’11″ Lure weight:3/8-1 1/2 Line weight:8-20 Power: Med. Heavy Action:Moderate Or IRG763CC-MH "Freds Crank Launch Jr." This is the little brother of the Crank launcher. Fred designed this rod for the mid size crank baits but it is also a fantastic rod for other reaction baits. its has a mh tip that slowly transitions in to nice parabolic bend with tons of back bone power. it will send your baits out a mile and keep the fish on all the way in. Length:7’6″ Lure weight:3/8-3/4 Line weight:8-17 Power: Med. Heavy Action: Mod The latter will be better for your mid-depth stuff. The struggle would be with your 8xd and 10xds and other magnum cranks. Maybe you need 2 set ups....?
  11. I would advise one oddball for those days they are missing the frog our just bumping it. I cant tell you how many times throwing a color like Spro Amazon has helped me when all other colors are failing. It's good for bluegill, sunfish, and yellow perch waters also.
  12. I agree kshultz76. You might struggle in the real heavy stuff though. But your off to a good start. If you like it then I would get a dedicated frog rod or combine with your flipping rod.
  13. Frogging of the most exciting, exhilarating, stressful, disappointing, rewarding technique IMHO. I love it! I personally think your fine like others said. Just change the line to 60+ braid. It's not about needing 60lb rated line. It's about bone jarring hook sets and being able to rip them out of heavy cover. There are a ton of good frog rods ranging from 7' to 7'10" and you have to find the right rod for you. I like the Irod Genesis II series. Specifically the 754 and 704. Good luck!
  14. I thought they released a different twing in the US, I don't know if MB was doing the same thing. I would hit up Gary at the TackleTrap. He would know how to get you taken care of.
  15. Now that you clarify a bit more i recommend a medium heavy also
  16. A 6'8" to 7'2" M or MH in just about any brand would work. I like a soft tip that transitions about 25 to 30% down the to a strong backbone.
  17. Irod Genesis 2 Fred's Magic Stick. Never look back
  18. Irod Fiber ($110) or Genesis II ($150) Fred's Magic Stick. Difference is in the components. Blank is the same. The best frog rod IMO. A great all around rod with good tip and tons of backbone. You won't be disappointed. A lot of guys use it for all the applications you are looking for.
  19. I used to own a TV. IMO its more of a H than MH. If you are throwing 2.5s or bigger, 1/2 and up spinnerbaits, 3/8oz weight plus bait t-rigs rev it would be perfect. I would suggest traditional MHs or like new2cb4bass suggested regular actions. My specific recommendation would be Irod Genesis II 723C Stone Cold Swim & Vibrating jig rod or a Genesis II 733C Harold's Lone Star Special paired with a Tatula SV in 6.3 or 7.3. The 723C is a little stouter but has a moderate action.
  20. More sensitive? Check and subjective Lighter? Check Catch you more fish? Nope Fish what you can afford. There is something to guys getting paid or some other kind of sponsorship that in some way financially benefits them. Look at Luke Clausen. Was with Megabass for years saying they were the best rods available. Now immediately after getting signed by Phenix rods, they are the lightest and most sensitive rods. He also said; "truly the best rods". Not mad at the guy, but I mean, c'mon man! All fairness. I push Irods, but I'm not going to go preach they are the best rods out there. Everybody makes good rods anymore. To each their own.
  21. Seriously? Updating and it has barely been 2 years. Where did your info come from?
  22. Irod Bub Tosh 7'11"H is a really good stick. I had the XX Jig/worm, Shakeyhead, and Tour Versatile for a couple seasons. If there is anything Megabass gets right, its the actions.
  23. I think staying with SX1 and FX2 is your best bet. I know I read somewhere that Siglon means practicality so I would think that the assumption of possibly being a budget line is correct.
