  1. Thats what they make sidecutters for. Garnet
  2. You can allways turn the power down.........You can't turn it pass max. Garnet
  3. The first thing is the notion that a hook will rust out. I read this 30 years ago in Field and Stream and rejected it then and even more so now. I always have offset sidecutters in the boat. With tubes I remove the plastic and cut the hook very close. If the fish is bleeding hold the fish for a few minutes and let the blood glot. This is a double sword thing but if you get the bleeding stopped they will not bleed out. I use course pickling salt in my livewells some people buy the Release Me stuff I think that salt works better. Avid problem bites I would remove the air sack and sink the fish the turtles look after the rest. Garnet
  4. Shimano Clarus CSS X66 M the X makes it a 70/30 split the tip is very soft with lots of backbone at the 2/3's. One of the best rods I've had. Theres also a CSS X68M thats a great rod. Garnet
  5. Turn your finder on and feel the xduser if it's pinging it's working. I would not use any cleaning products on it. Garnet
  6. Run a Power pro to a flouro leader if practice the blood and uni knots are fine. I use a very small swival check Redwing Tackle they are a steelhead specailist for these small swivals. Garnet
  7. Flouro is just like braid 10 years ago. Theres do's and don'ts Don't over fill spool and don't go fishing the next day. I use Vanish because it's readly available. The biggest thing is theres 2 suppliers in the world of flouro so theres not that much difference. The softer it is the more additives add color more additives. Garnet
  8. The only true way to tell is take it to a dealer and have them but a dail gauge on it. Watch them do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there a lot of dealers Your spline has a spec. You need to take the bottom oil drain screw out they have a magnet and any metal on the magnet is suspect. If it's just a few dust pacticles it's good also the color of the oil if it looks milkie thats water. Garnet
  9. I avoid the loops by stopping every cast with my finger and closing the bale taking the line off my finger. some people close the bale then give the line a slight pull. These are just things you get use to do and never think about. Garnet
  10. 5 Lb Power pro is 1 lb dia. and would work well in this open water situation with the proper rod and reels. Garnet
  11. You will need a rod with more back bone. 7 ft with a 70/30 bend medium is my chioce. The drop shot rods don't have enough for dragging. Garnet
  12. Somethings you might want to look into are you covered for tournament fishing are you covered if you guide. If you take a buddy out is that guiding. Can you take it into salt water and how far. Can you travell with this coveage. Garnet
  13. Wind and rain are the most important thing for taking the ice out. Garnet
  14. If it doesn't matter to you stick with the main sponcers of the series you will be fishing. Garnet
  15. The knot slipping is a hook problem. Send your hooks back to your manufacture and complain. Power Pro has new this year 5lb that they say is 1 lb dia. there 8 lb. is also a 1 lb. dia. but the 5 lb is 30% thinner it is wicked thin. I've been at the fishing show and the Red Prower Pro is flying off the shelves. Garnet
  16. I worked in a battery plant (General Motors) and with your standard lead acid battery or your standard gel. If one battery wieghts 10 lbs more it's a better battery. The round coil Optimas are a different proccess so I can't commenet. I've use Delco Vouyaur and they need a great charging system 10/bank min. I've also used Interstate and Pow R Surge they are very good batterys. Garnet
  17. Just the fact that Aron Martins buts everything on the line tells me that I need to no this knot. And it is the hardest knot I've tryed to perfect. If you look at the diagram you will see the knots advantage. If you are happy with your knot just keep donating to the Aron Martins of the world. Garnet
  18. Thats not the case with 24 volt system. If you were to run your 12 volt system at half speed and got 2 mph. If you hooked up 24 volt to get the same speed you would run at 1/4 speed. Garnet
