  1. I've used 2 skirt Spinnerbaits when throwing at targets. You can get the blades spining and keep the bait close to the target. Garnet
  2. The overwelming responce will be rods that are extremely stiff right to the tip pool cue. Nothing could be further from the truth. Whats call a 70/30 rod is best. The action you are looking for is a very soft tip. You want the tip to bend when you lift the smallest bait you might use. So likely 1/4 with a trailer. And the power of your rod is 2/3 up the blank or about 3 to 4 guides from the tip. When you pitch and raise your rod and the tip bends a little is your bait. Now if you lift your rod and no bend happens just set the hook on the other side if it bends a little more you need to go fish or.......and set the hook. On the heavy end of baits you do not want your bait to pull the tip to the power point of your rod. This type of rod will give a 25 % advantage over every guy that says you need a pool cue.........just smile thay never believe you and take there money. Garnet
  3. Every bait I throw straight out of the package. Get the picture. Garnet
  4. Just close your eyes and keep reeling when you feel the fish set. Garnet
  5. The most weedless crankbait is the Luhra Jensen Joint Beno was made by Mills brothers Ohio. Doesn't look like Luhra Jensen make them anymore found a Japanesse site with them. We get very thick coontail and this bait will go right thru it. Guess I better start buying some for the future. Garnet

I use a lot of Power pro for largie fishing. Most of my Smallie fishing is in drink water clear lakes and Power Pro is just to visable for me. I don't think the fish care but it drives me crazy. So I use Vanish (i pay for) instead of Power pro(i don't pay for) and add a swival to keep the twist out. Garnet
  7. Bass West but I think they went out of biz. Garnet
  8. I was hoping for boring and big fish............I saw article with diagrams looked like a red/white bobber is this nessary. What lb test and bc or spinning. That issue is at work will check Sun. night. Garnet
  9. Would like some input on the float and fly technic. Setups and equipment. Is this technic used in the summer or just a winter deal. Garnet
  10. I had a local guy that tied bucktail jigs for 50 cents up to 3/8 and 75 cents 1/2 and up. Thats custom tie any color any head. Over the course of 20 years I got to try everything possible. Head size and style for the job. All jigs must have eyes. Those perfect stick on eyes are junk. I still use Crofty's technic for eyes. Take a Bic Pen Cap and cut the top off large enough for White back ground. Just dip pen and dap. Cut a smaller hole for the red center. Don't make them look perfect make them evil. You will notice that some jigs when tied are very strait. Do not buy these jigs sort thru and only buy the ones that look puffy. The strait ones have very very little action. Puffy jigs will out fish strait tied by a wide margin. The last thing is color if the jig doesn't have these first 2 thing I won't buy them. I use bucktails for walleye Smallies and largies and they all have to have these qualitys. Garnet
  11. When you get this DVD watch closely how Gobies swim. It took me a bit to mimic this with a tube but it was worth it. Garnet

Inline Spinners like Mepps or Blue Fox are the only thing I use a Snap Swival. A Strait Swival on all Drop Shot to stop twist and cRig. Garnet
  13. In my walleye fishing I need different head sizes and blades so I just buy the componets. Garnet
  14. bass magnet lures.com does custom colors for reasonable price. Garnet
  15. The inline spinner Blue Fox, Mepps #3's. Garnet
  16. Deer Tail is very water resistant and can be very long and died any color. Some other fur is use Polar bear but thats illegal I think. I've used grizzly bear and black bear. Don't but oilly scent on the deertail it will ruin all action you can use the vasaline ones on the head. The best thing with deertail you can get in the weeds and abuze it. In more open water the sudle action is killer. When you deertail gets curled and matted from the package or use just get the kettle steaming really hard hold the hair in the steam and it will straight right out and return it's action. Garnet
  17. I use the photo print Perch banjo minnow on a ball head for Walleye. The problem was you couldn't walk in a store and buy 5 bags. Garnet
  18. The storey on Floru should make the difference between 6 and 8 nothing but I've had several experience were I got bite better with 6 than 8. So far I'm sticking to not using 4 so far. Garnet
  19. Kim Stricker Productions and be perpared to lose sleep. Picked it up at BPS Tennesse. Garnet
  20. Cover areas and Power Pro. I use 30 lb on my spinning reels they are 2000,4000 models. Get some cheap line I use that $1.57 Walmart stuff of the daimeter as my power pro fill your spools full and then pull off 35 pulls about 100 ft. then spool your power pro on. This gives you max spool capacity. BC same deal ! use 50 - 80 lb Garnet
  21. Just put my stuff in the new floater suit. Get a compass and pin it on your floater suit. White outs are bad but fog is the worst. You don't need to plot a course just what way is shore. Ice spikes good pair $20 never used mine and never with out them. Rope on your slieghs. You see guys with little stock ropes. Buy a least 100 ft rope and thread all the way around. Just drill holes. I only saved 1 guy about 10 -12 years ago just slid my sliegh out to him and pulled him out. Flash light I carry 2 a normal throw away and little pen light one on a shoe lace. Just bought a new Stanley tripod one. This stuff is allways in my floater suit. Garnet
  22. I'm just puting my ice fishing stuff together to start tommorrow. If you do this foolish stuff enough make yourself a good spud. Mine is 8 inch spring steel cut a slate up the middle of 1 inch pipe 18 inches long. Melt some lead into the pipe 2 lbs (rember you will be 1 handing it) now get piece of pipe that fits over the 1 inch to just above waist hite put a T. Sharpen the spring steel. Now you got to use it 3 hits in 1 spot and you are good. Check often. This is not a pry bar spring steel will break but for checking ice nothing beats it. Garnet
  23. Take the weed guard pull it up as high as possible then make the last 1/2 to 3/8 inch go strait towards the hook piont and just pass the pionted. This helps to move the weeds away from the hook and it gives more area for the fish to move the weed guard. Garnet
  24. Those yellow handled files in the BPS are the best available almost all tackle stores. Just file away from you and don't make to thin on the end. Most shop files are to course. Shapening hooks is becoming a lost art. Garnet
  25. Lake Simcoe is 1 hr. with a stop at Tim Hortons for me and it still stuns me summer 5 fish tournaments you better have 23 lbs. We also have some small lakes that 20 lbs for 5 fish just very lucky to live in this area. Garnet
