  1. I'm real old school. When I start hitting the weeds with my bait I drop anchor and fish the area.
  2. A few years back we were out on the water, and saw something white hanging high up in a tree. It turned out to be a white egret tangled in fishing line. The bird must have tried to fly with the line around it, and gotten hung up in the tree limbs.
  3. Most of my backlashes that need to be cut out come from bushes that I didn't realize were behind me.
  4. A few years back a guy at the ramp needed a jump. The lake is electric motor only and he had used his truck battery to power his trolling motor, and when he put the battery back in the truck it didn't have enough juice to turn the truck over.
  5. No spinning rods, but I have 2 bionic blade casting rods and a tourny special casting rod that work great for moving baits.
  6. Even though I look at the weather app on my phone, I still watch the sky while I'm out on the water. Over the years I've learned that the radar may not be able to pick up storms as they are forming, and by the time the storm show up on radar it may already be on top of you.
  7. Sorry to hear this. It's always hard to lose a friend as good as a dog.
  8. At least you kept the skunk away.
  9. A big bass doesn't need to worry about getting hurt so they just inhale it. The dinks are worried about a fight so they try to kill the bait first thing.
  10. I'm lazy about a lot of things, but fishing ain't one of them.
  11. I ran out to the local conservation site on Sunday. I was the only one on the water all morning and around 11 AM I started to think that maybe they shut the lake down and I missed the sign. As I was heading in 5 or 6 more people pulled up to the boat ramp, so I called it a day.
  12. I have a 6’6” m/f carbonlite, and a 6’6” m/f St. Croix premier. Both rods have a Pflueger president 35 spooled with 10 lb mono. I use one for weightless plastic worms, senkos, and flukes. I use the other one for split shot rigs, and very light t-rigs.
  13. FG Knots: Overrated Amazon: Overrated Manual Transmission: Underrated Straw Hats: Underrated Dogs: Underrated Doughnuts?
  14. Topwaters, shallow running crankbaits, weightless plastic worms, flukes, and senkos. You can also try working a small jig with a craw trailer across the top of the growth. I like jigs that are 1/8 ounce. When they snag in the vegetation you can take up the slack and pop them free without picking up too much.
  15. Strike King Bitsy Bugs. They're fairly cheap so I don't break the bank when I need to restock them.
  16. I always try to be about 15 min early. I've been burned too many times by arriving right on time just to be told I'm late. Now I'm the first to arrive.
  17. Sometimes it's luck, and sometimes it's skill. I don't try to figure it out.
  18. Biggest one for me has been learning how to fish heavily pressured water.
  19. I usually use 6'6" or 7'0" depending on the bait, and where I'm fishing.
  20. Jig and craw, t-rig, weightless plastic worm and senko.
  21. My dad hands down. Where I was raised fishing was something that was done when the family went camping for the week. The rest of the time it was all about ball sports. Since my dad was raised in the country we went fishing all the time. He taught me how to fish with crankbaits.
  22. That's a nice bass, congrats on the new PB!
  23. I didn't need light tackle today. These guys were going after 7/16 crankbaits.
  24. I quit fishing with frogs in some ponds near my house because the bullfrogs. When I cast the bait out it was like ringing a dinner bell.
