Spot stealing
I don't see to much of this where I fish because a lot of the other anglers are bucket fishermen that will sit on one or two spots all morning. The anglers that do try and jump a spot seem to be the wanna be tourny anglers that think they own the water. Doesn't seem to matter they are using a completely different bait with a completely different presentation.

Any smokers out there(?)
My mom smoked, my dad didn't. I tried it a couple of times when I was about 12. Never cared for it and never tried it again.

Fighting Fish- the 'Sport' in Sportfishing
I always try and let the fish pull a little just to see how big it is and how much fight it has. I think it's better to tire out the fish while it's out in open water than when it's right next to the boat, or the bank.

Your fishing success
This time of year it's light, water clarity, and wind that will decide if the fish are moving around or buried in the vegetation. I don't pay attention to the barometer or phase of the moon, and the only time I worry about a front is when there is lightning involved.

Line conditioner users
I use KVD when I put new line on the spool, and then again the day before go fishing.

Light power spinning rods...
I have used L and UL before, but it's hard to snap the bait out of the vegetation. Now I don't fish below a ML.

Favorite Lures
Right now I'm catching them on crankbaits, jig and craw, and plastic worms. Most of the bass have been in the flats in the spots where the vegetation is the thickest.

Advice for lure choice and fish location in HIGHLY stained water
I'd be fishing with a black jig and craw.

Crankbait Presentation
So far this year crankbaits have been my top producing baits. The water I fish have a mixture of lilypads, milfoil, with the majority being coontail. I fish a crankbait with a steady retrieve and run it right next to the small mats floating on the surface, or just above the submerged stuff.

Large poppers...
I've used the skitter pop, chug bug, and hula popper, but I've had the best luck with a pop-r.

On The Water Research
For new lakes I'll look at maps, Google Earth, and I do some online searches to see what other anglers have done. I just load the boat and go when I'm fishing lakes that I know.

My old Lab going to heaven today...
So sorry for your loss. Our lab went to her reward 25 years ago, and we miss her every day.

Summer morning topwater
I hit them with everything I have since the bass may not want the same bait two trips in a row. Buzzbaits, jitterbugs, spooks, poppers, and prop baits, but when the bite dies on top it is done for the day.

Lizards
I drag them weightless across the top of vegetation in summer, and drag them along the bottom in spring.

Really?
If it doesn't work, at least it might be worth something in 20 or 30 years.

Ever catch the same fish twice?
Bass no, catfish yes. We were fishing in a cove with timber in it, and got bit on cut shad. While bringing the fish in it got behind a stump and broke off. We moved to the other side of the cove and caught the same cat, but this time got it to the boat. It had our hook in it's mouth and about 3 other older hooks.

The Colonostopy Experience
I had to take the colonoscopy test twice within a month. The prep didn't work all the way the first time so they couldn't complete the test. Their solution was for me to schedule a second test and take the prep for 2 days. I told them no way in ^&%# was I drinking 2 jugs of that stuff. They told me to take laxatives for a week before the second colonoscopy and then the prep the day before the test. The found a non cancer polyp and removed it. I'm good for another 10 years.

Weightless Plastics
Flukes, Senkos, and Stik-Os I usually fish weightless. 4" and 6" worms I either fish weightless or on split shot rigs.
