  1. I like to work a pop-r around weed mats. On sunny days I will try to get the bait into the shade and keep it there for as long as possible.
  2. With regular fishing the mono on my baitcasting and spinning reels need replacing about every 3 to 4 months.
  3. I can catch little bass all day with a 3" BPS Stik-o on a split shot rig. I usually fish it around water willows, or the outside edge of the vegetation.
  4. Nice catching!
  5. Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw.
  6. I don't use deep diving crankbaits, but I use a duo lock snap on medium and shallow running crankbaits. It makes it easier to change baits. Especially in cold weather.
  7. I don't have any problems with cottonwood seeds on my line. The seeds collect on my line guides and level wind.
  8. Same conservation area, but 40 years ago. Back then the fishing season was only from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There were a few bass anglers out there, but nothing like it is now. Most people fished for catfish.
  9. Not just culverts. Any little inflow may hold bass looking for a meal.
  10. I prefer to fish alone. It’s the one time I don’t have anybody else to worry about or watch. Definitely me time.
  11. I have ever since I hit a stump 20 feet out from the boat ramp.
  12. The wind will decide if I'm riding in a boat, or walking around a pond. Thunder and lightning will decide if I'm going at all.
  13. Jaws Old Man and The Sea Moby Dick
  14. Nice looking bluegill! Just about the right size for dinner.
  15. I fish a t-rigged worm a lot, but sometimes a worm on a split shot rig works better for me.
  16. The heaviest spinnerbait I use is 1/2 ounce. If I fished with anything heavier I'd have to cast it with my punch rig.
  17. My first lure bass was on a Cotton Cordell Big-O. The mid sized one. It was the first or second year they had been out on the market.
  18. You've got some nice bass right there.
  19. I tend to fish more in vegetation during a heatwave. It provides shade and oxygen for the fish. If the weeds are scarce I focus on deeper water.
  20. I've gotten rid of two old lawn mowers by sitting them on the curb the day before trash day. If someone wants to spend the time and money to rebuild them, then go for it.
  21. On my fishing trip a couple of weeks ago the wind was blowing pretty good. There was a bobber coming toward me and I figured I'd grab it when it passed the boat. I'm watching the bobber and realize it's moving against the wind. The bobber got a couple of feet away from the boat and went under. I looked around for it for a while then went back to fishing.
  22. I usually hit some small ponds that are about an hour away by car and by foot. I've discovered that a lot of the holiday anglers don't like to walk.
  23. I had the exact same thing happen a few years ago with a duo lock snap. Lost the bass and the spinnerbait, and when I reeled in the line the snap was still closed. Since the spinnerbait I was using was around 20 years old I have to go with spinnerbait failure.
  24. Welcome to Bass Resource!
