  1. In the pressured ponds and small lakes I fish, yes.
  2. If I'm fishing a lot of vegetation I want a mh/f for bottom contact baits. I like the extra backbone when I'm snapping the bait free. I fish moving baits with treble hooks on m/h rods since I'm not really going to run those through thick cover.
  3. I fish a pop-r on straight mono, and a snap, if it will fit. I've never had a problem with the line fouling in the hooks.
  4. 1/8 oz weight on 15 lb big game with a 3/0 EWG hook.
  5. My wife doesn't fish that much so when she comes along I need a find a place that works for both of us. https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/find/places?&area_name=&counties=All&location[distance]=50&location[origin]=
  6. Spinning: (2) Pflueger 6735 (1) Pflueger 6730 Baitcasters: (3) Daiwa Tatula CT100H (1) Shimano SLX-150
  7. My yearly fish log is on an Excel spreadsheet. I just make an entry, but instead of lake info, I list reel info.
  8. The bass around here aren't coming up on topwater baits yet. I've been having good luck with shallow running crankbaits, and wakebaits.
  9. First little muskie of the year on a jig and craw. I thought I had a really good bass at first.
  10. I don't buy baits and tackle just to have them, but I do hold onto them after they have been retired. I have a tackle box with hard baits from the 60's, 70's and 80's, and a drawer full of reels from that same timeframe.
  11. A t-rigged ultra vibe speedcraw is a standard for me.
  12. If there is vegetation growing in those rock, I'd say a carp.
  13. He's hooked. May the two of you have a lot of good trips together.
  14. I'm thinking it's a line issue. Do you have this line spooled on different rigs, or just the one you are losing baits with?
  15. Black / Blue Black Green Pumpkin. Which one depends on water clarity and cloud cover.
  16. Yesterday's trip started off alright. I started off along a deep drop off, didn't get any bites so I moved down shallow where the vegetation is starting to pop up in places. Fishing two different spots, I managed to pick off nine little largemouth after the wind started blowing a little. That's when all the fun started. I'm fishing in about 4 feet of water and while pulling up the anchor it hangs up. I see I have braid wrapped around the anchor line. I pulled the anchor up as far as I could, reached down into the water and cut the braid. I never saw what was on the end of it. When I got finished with my anchor line, I turn on the TM because I'm drifting in close to the bank. The boat isn't responding and the prop is turning very slowly. My first thought was that the battery is dead, but the tester I carry shows it is only down about 40%. The wind was with me and I paddled back into the ramp. Getting out of the boat, I stepped down and turned over my ankle. After about 5 minutes of cussing, I was able to walk around on it and load up for the trip home.
  17. My weekends have either been cold and rainy, very windy, or I've had to work. I don't know what I'm going to do if it's sunny and warm.
  18. Either use a bigger bait or use a heavier bait. I fish a small lake that has a ton of little bass in it, but it also has some nice ones. A small bait, or a bait that takes a while to sink will get hammered by dinks long before it gets down to where the big bass are hanging out.
  19. A jig and craw has been my one of top producing baits for years now. I have to say jig.
  20. Zoom UV Speedcraw. The claws are more in line with the body so I can get it through the vegetation easier.
  21. KVD Line Conditioner. In the past I was never one to use conditioner because I never found one that I thought was any good. I read all of the comments on this site about KVD, and went out and bought a bottle. Good stuff.
  22. I use the 1/2 oz size and let it fall all the way to the bottom. After it's on the bottom I just slow roll it back fast enough to feel it vibrate.
