  1. My first baitcast reel was a Daiwa Millionaire 5B that I got from my dad back in 1978. I had it on a 6'0" pistol grip Daiwa rod that was limber as a noodle. I don't have the reel any longer, but I still have the rod.
  2. Everything else being equal, I'd have to go with green pumpkin.
  3. Nice going! The topwater bite is starting around here also. Mostly on walking baits.
  4. There is one lake I fish at where if something is going to go wrong it will happen there. I fish it maybe once a year. It holds some nice bass, but I’m not getting my hopes up when I fish it.
  5. I purchased the base SLX around the middle of March. I've been using it pretty consistently each fishing trip with no problems.
  6. I guess you could hit the trees if you like rowing and spending money on repairs.
  7. I've never removed the split ring. I've never noticed any reduction in the action of the bait.
  8. Congratulations! That's a nice fish!

    That's a big bass.
  10. I use a 1/16 ounce split shot with a 2/0 hook. In the thick vegetation I don't like to use less than 10 lb mono, but in more open water I'll use 6 lb mono.
  11. When we were dating, my wife wanted to fishing with me because she had never been before. I gave her an old Zebco 33 on a cheap pistol grip rod to fish with. My forethought paid off, because on her second or third cast, she dropped the rig right over the side into water about 30 feet deep. I still fish that lake and I always if that rig is still down there. One time, my dad and I were out fishing out of a jonboat during a rainstorm. We didn't have rainsuits, just ponchos. My dad sits down, puts down the BC rig, picked up the other rig, stands up, and the BC rig flies over the side. The only thing he could think of was he laid the rig down on the poncho, and when he stood up it got flipped out of the boat.

  13. Congratulations!!
  14. Man that thing is huge!!
  15. I grew up fishing Creme worms. Grape was always the best color around here. I fish the worms weightless, on a split shot rig, and on a t-rig with 1/8 or 3/16 weight.
  16. I wear a standard pfd. If you're getting knocked around in a boat, and then get ejected, there is always the chance that the auto inflatable pfd will get damaged somehow and not work.
  17. All of them at one time or another.
  18. The first EWG hooks I ever bought were the XPS hooks. They did OK, and that first pack of hooks lasted me about a year and a half. When I bought the second pack I ended up pitching them. When I would fish them on a T-rig, and hit a snag, those hooks would bend fairly easy. That's when I started using Gammy hooks.
  19. Nice going! PB bass will keep you pumped up for a while!
  20. When I got my reels, they were just about dry on the inside. After I oiled them they were much smoother.
  21. Over the years we've found a rod in the river, a Zebco 202, and a Abu Garcia 3600 Black Max round reel.
  22. Maintenance / Facilities Project Engineer for both office and factory for the past 34 years.
  23. I've caught a couple of decent bass this year, but most of the bass water ski on the surface when I reel them in.
