  1. A warm rain in the summer usually turns on the bite big time. A cold rain in the spring usually kills the bite for the rest of the day.
  2. I was going fishing Friday and Saturday. Cold front came through today. Lows are going to be in the mid 40's and highs both days may reach 60 degrees. Add 20-25 mph winds, and I decided to stay home.
  3. I like a 1/16 or 1/8 BPS spinner bait. They’re fairly cheap and the hold up pretty good.
  4. Growing up every sunfish was a bluegill. I cast a finesse worm out past the beds and the bass. This works best if you can see the bass. Then I bring it past the bass, dragging on the bottom. Most of the time the bass will strike at the worm as soon as they see it.
  5. A hawg!!!
  6. The mods are one of the reasons this site has been around for so long. Good job!!
  7. I remember my mom had shingles back in the late 70's. It didn't effect her nervous system, but she said it hurt bad all the time.
  8. DQ's large chocolate dipped cone
  9. I can work walking baits and poppers with a 6'6" or a 7'0" rod. It just takes me a little while to get use to the length difference.
  10. Good info Glenn. I'm going to watch this one again.
  11. I'll check out point to see what kind of cover is on it. If I see a lot of vegetation then I'm fishing it.
  12. If I’m fishing a topwater bait I’ll be using something like a jitterbug or a buzzbait. I don’t want the rain to cover bait’s noise.
  13. If I’m fishing local I’ll get up around 4:00. When I’m on a trip I get up at 3:00 to be out on the water before sun up.
  14. Congratulations!
  15. One of the worst years for me. My eyes start watering as soon as I go outside. I've never had sinus headaches like I've had this spring. I've been taking Claritin for the congestion, and Tylenol for the headaches.
  16. As long as the crankbaits and the lipless cranks are close to the same weight there should be no problem.
  17. No way. Not in the weeds I fish.
  18. I've used pearl colored crankbaits in clear water for years. In my waters that color works best when there is small shad in the lake. Chartreuse, and chartreuse with black flakes, works best fished around vegetation in clear water. About the only time I use bubble gum is pre spawn when the water is murky.
  19. In 10-15 mph sustained wind I will be using a jig, heavy t-rig, chatter bait, lipless, and crankbait. No use even to bring the split shot or weightless rigs.
  20. I have to agree with what has already been posted. When my palomar knots keep breaking just from tightening them down, I replace the line.
  21. I usually put a Fat Albert on the back of a chatter bait and cast it out into the vegetation. I retrieve it slow and keep it just above the weeds.
  22. I used a cane pole when I was about 8 and had just got into fishing. I caught a lot of sunnies on that thing walking up and down the dam.
  23. Once I have a reel on a rod, and it feels right, that reel stays on that rod. The brands make no difference to me.
