  1. Get a telescopic lure retriever. Extend it out and probe the bottom as you are wading. You'll find the holes before you step in them.
  2. Nice bass, Congrats!
  3. Weightless 4" senko, weightless 6" plastic worm, or a 1/8 oz. jig and craw. I've learned over the years that smaller is easier to work through the slop.
  4. I fish a lake like yours. Most of the bass you'll catch are 1/2 to 3/4 pounds. There are big bass in this lake, but you have to go deep with a heavy weight to get the bait down fast. If the bait sinks slow the dinks will pick it off before the larger size bass even know it's in the water.
  5. The only one I can think of off hand happened when I wasn't reeling in a fish. I had just cleaned my Abu Garcia 3600 black max round reel the day before, and I had been fishing with it all day without any problems. I make a cast, start reeling the bait it, and the thing literally starts falling apart, as I'm reeling the bait in. The side came off and the spool fell out. I had an empty sandwich baggie in my tackle box, so I put all of the parts in that. When I got home I put the reel back together and then made sure all the screws were in tight.
  6. I have this one too. I got it off of Amazon a couple of years ago.
  7. It's been slow here for the past few weeks, but I am thinking it's because of the heat. Later this week we are supposed to cool down so maybe by the weekend my numbers will be back up.
  8. The first crankbait I ever used was a Big-O.
  9. Hello and welcome to the forums.
  10. A couple of times I've had to pack it up and call it a day when I've gotten migraines.
  11. I use 10# big game for crankbaits around 1/4 oz., and 15# big game for crankbaits around 1/2 oz.
  12. I’m going to try this this weekend in the coontail.
  13. The spinning reels I use the most are Pflueger size 35 reels. When I owned Shimano spinning reels I used the 2500 size.
  14. I either use Zoom tubes, or BPS tubes. I t-rig them with a 1/8 oz. bullet weight.
  15. Lipless crankbait, shallow running crankbait, spinnerbait, and a chatterbait.
  16. Early May it was a Zara spook. Now it's a pop-r.
  17. Spook or popper Shallow running crankbait or spinnerbait Jig and craw, or plastic worm
  18. Congratulations to you and your Mrs. We'll be married for 33 years come November.
  19. Thanks for sharing your story. It's also a good idea to always wear a life jacket while wading.
  20. Probably another Shimano Curado.
  21. Congratulations!
  22. The warmouth are the worst. They hit like a bass, and when you set the hook they come flying out of the water. Usually if the panfish are near the bank then the bass are out in the middle more.
  23. It depends on the size of the bait. When I'm fishing with small topwater baits around 1/4 oz. then I like use a 6'6" m/f carbonlite spinning rod. If I'm fishing topwater baits 1/2 oz. and up I'll use my old 7'0" mh/f BPS bionic blade
