Good going! That's how to get the skunk out of the boat.

Stoopid moments fishing stories
Several years ago I was fishing on a flat that was about 5 or 6 feet deep. I dropped the anchor over the side to hold my position, and about a minute later I noticed that I was still moving. At first I though the wind was causing the anchor to drag, but then I saw the anchor line about 40 feet away floating on the surface. I had forgotten to tie the line to the boat.

What specific baits do you have tied on at all times? In other words, what bait specific rods do you have?
The only dedicated rig I use is a punch rig. My other rods see multiple types of baits.

Thanks Glenn, good video. I dug my Johnson Silver Minnows out of the old tackle box. Now I need to shine them back up.

High Risk/High Reward
The biggest bass are in the thickest cover.

Barometer?
I get out on the water when I can and I don't worry about the pressure.

No mono, no fluoro, just braid?
I have braid on my punch rig. Everything else has mono in it.

St Croix premier split grip, Cabela's
I bought a full cork premier last year. I looked at the split grip and the full cork, and to me they both felt the same. I ended up saving some $$$ and going with the full cork model.

Reel gear ratio for punching veggies
For punching I like a 6.3 reel and a heavy rod. A lot of the time when I get a fish hooked underneath a weed mat I'll be reeling in 3 pounds of fish, and 5 pounds of weeds. When this happens the bass can't fight since it's weighted down with the vegetation. For flipping and pitching I want a faster reel. If I don't get a bite in the strike zone right away I reel in and pitch to a new location.

Favorite cheap hooks
I stick to Gammy or Mustad hooks for plastics, and Eagle Claw for treble hooks.

I'd consider this a good day...
Around here that would be a called a great day!

Power fishing vs Finesse fishing
I've been catching bass on 4" plastic worms, and on 1/2 ounce lipless crankbaits. Because of the heat I have been working them slow. Doesn't matter what the bait is if I speed up the retrieve I don't get any bites.

Do you still get excited?
Yes I do. The day after I get home from a trip I start thinking about the next trip.

Dad Joke Thread
Why is watermelon good for you? It gives you vitamin P.

Why is it?
When I was growing up I was taught to do the job right the first time. That believe seems to have gone out the window. Now it's all about how many tickets you can close out in a day. Doesn't seem to matter if the job is only half done, or done wrong.

August Dog Days Of Summer : Current Favorite Bass Lures ?
For me it's not so much the bait, as where I fish it. When the sun gets high and hot I start looking for grass and vegetation.

Daiwa Tatula CT
I oiled both of my CT100H reels after I got them. They were a lot smoother after that.

Rear weighted walking lures vs flat sitting
I've always had better luck with the baits sitting flat. I don't pause the bait, but I do change the retrieve while I'm bringing the bait back in.

Tubes
I texas rig my tubes. I still pick up vegetation but it's easier to pull it through.

Who introduced you to bass fishing?
My dad got me into bass fishing. When I was growing up we fished for cat or panfish except when we would go down to Bull Shoals, Table Rock, or Lake of the Ozarks. Then we fished for bass. Over the years my dad got more and more into bass fishing, so when I got back into fishing and would go with him, we fished for bass.

Old School to New School/New School to Old School
I still fish with Jitterbugs, Big-O, Redfins, and Humpback Rebels. Sometimes it's good to use a bait that the bass haven't seen in a while.

How Old?
I was 46, and caught my 6 lb. 2 oz. PB largemouth on a black jitterbug fishing over a submerged road bed at about 5:55 AM on one of the hottest days of the year. Before that I was 44 and my PB was 5 lb. 4 oz. I caught that one along some water willows on a weightless Zoom Z-nail.
