  1. About the only color frog I use is green with some kind of pattern on it. Black frogs tend to attract real frogs in some of the water I fish.
  2. Early to mid morning before the sun comes over the tops of the trees.
  3. Pitching and flipping. I usually cast first, and then realize that it would have been better to pitch or flip the bait into the spot.
  4. Pork is a pain to take care of especially in the heat we have been having.
  5. Unless that shallow water has a lot of vegetation in it, I would head to deeper water with some kind of structure on the bottom.
  6. Lake 33 is shallow. Maybe an average of 4 to 6 feet deep, and very murky due to the lack of vegetation in the lake. There are a couple of spots up toward the dam that are about 12 feet deep, but you have to look for them. Your best bet would be using plastics. There are areas in that lake that have a lot of wood under the surface, and a crankbait will get hung up quick.
  7. That bass is a hawg!
  8. So far it has been a jig, pop-r, and a Mann's 1 minus. I have gotten some bass on t-rigged plastics, but it just seems that the bass want something moving.
  9. You learn something from every fish you catch.
  10. I'm still working on mine.
  11. Man I am sorry to hear that. Don't rush the healing or you might hurt it again. When I strain my back it usually takes about a month before I can move around without pain.
  12. I not only get off of the water, I move off of the ramp. A couple of years ago I saw a van sitting on the ramp take a direct lightning hit. The strike put a dent right through the roof of the van. Now when it lightnings I go up to the parking lot.
  13. I have caught them on crankbaits, jig, and plastic worms. One of the local city lakes has a "no live bait" rule. Just about every one that fishes it uses spinnerbaits.
  14. I like to use a small jig. I work it through the grass just like I would if it were on the bottom. I try and hop it. Don't try to drag it because you'll pick up grass every time.
  15. Natural Craw Rat-L-Trap. Can't beat them around here in the spring, and around the spawn.
  16. In some of the lakes I fish big lures attract muskie, so I don't fish big lures that much.
  17. Sounds like an excellent trip!
  18. You have some nice bass! Good going!
  19. Before I go out I have been checking the flash flood warnings. This stuff about 3 to 4 inches of rain in two hours stinks.
  20. Probably about one season before I could make a good cast. I don't think I have ever had a trip where I didn't get at least one backlash.
  21. This year my number 1 bait has been a 1/8 ounce watermelon jig with a craw trailer. Number 2 has been a chrome and black Pop-r.
  22. I went to the ER some years ago to get a hook removed. Now I am very careful with treble hooks. If it is a big bass I let it fight until it is tired. If the bass is small I will hold it around the middle until I can lip it.
