  1. It depends on the water column and what kind of cover I'm fishing. If I am fishing over weeds I will hold the tip up so that I have better control bringing the bait over the tops of the weeds. How I hold the rod for a crankbait depends on what kind of crank it is and how I want to fish it.
  2. Never had one brake off, but there have been a couple of times where I started off with fish and ended up using the lure knocker.
  3. Nice bass, Congrats on the new PB!
  4. ROFL. If that would have happened where I work you would have had to take a couple of weeks of sensitivity and diversity classes.
  5. My main set up is a Curado 200 E7 on a 6-6 MH St. Croix premier rod. I usually have 15# mono or fluoro spooled on it. For jigging in lilypads, or punching I use an old H action 6-6 Diawa procaster rod with an Abu 5600 C3. I have 50# braid spooled on that one.
  6. In years past black/blue has been my #1 jig color. This year it's not. My best color this year has been straight black w/ a black trailer.
  7. Thanks for the pics, sounds like you had a great time.
  8. Great looking bass, good job!
  9. It depends on how the fish hits. If the bite is like a freight train I'll pull straight up, but if the bite is very light I'll sweep it to the side.
  10. Maybe your lizard hit a small underwater mine?
  11. Years ago I use to hear people say that you only fish jigs in the winter, and now they are used year round. Same with jerkbaits.
  12. We used to take bb guns and bows outside and shoot stuff in the yard. Nowadays that would bring the cops running.
  13. Sam, good point about the boat. I have seen a lot of guys that are afraid to take their boats into heavy cover because they don't want to damage / dirty them up.
  14. I have a Curado 200E7, on a St. Croix rod. Purchased them separately over the course of about 6 months.
  15. My UL is a used Mitchell 308 that I got as a gift. The reel is mounted on a 7' ML BPS microlite rod that I got as a Christmas present last year. So that rig was basically free.
  16. The lakes I fish have a lot of wood and weeds in them, so I t-rig tubes when I fish them. Tubes are also great for punching, but I peg the weight when I am fishing in the weeds.
  17. This site really taught me how to bass fish.
  18. I treat the grass mat like an island and hit the points first. If that doesn't produce I will start punching through it.
  19. 30 years with the same mower, wow! We have lived in our house for 20 years and I am on my 3rd mower.
  20. I have had them hit senkos, plastic worms, cranks, and spinnerbaits.
  21. Good job, those are some beauties!

I would start off with a blue/black jig and a trailer that has a lot of motion to it. Start with a 3/8 size and see how that works. If the 3/8 does't produce I would go up to a 1/2 size.
