  1. Actually I put the car on the street while I cut the front grass as a barrier. Sort of what the highway dept. does with those big trucks. Either on purpose or from not paying attention, but some of the drivers around here get pretty close to the curb. We got footage from our next door neighbor. Older white sedan stopped right in front of their house after the accident. The driver got out looked back at my car, looked at their car, got back in and drove off. You can't see the plates from the angle though. They did have damage. That car lost a bunch of chrome, and paint. Also looks like the front end was banged up pretty good.
  2. Nope. We don't have coverage for that. I've been driving my wife's car.
  3. The conservation dept. needs to do that here in Missouri.
  4. Hot dogs, chicken liver, raw hamburger, a concoction of hamburger, wheaties, and limburger cheese.
  5. I've got 4 casting combos and 3 spinning combos that I actually use.
  6. No Megabass here. Smithwick, Lucky Craft, Rapala, Strike King, Spro, and even a few BPS are what I use.
  7. I've used duolock snaps to split rings for years with no issue. It causes some crankbaits to hunt during the retrieve, and will add a little more action to the jerkbait, and topwater, depending on the bait. I've never had an issue with a snap failing, even when snagged. If the snap looks bent or damaged I do change it out for a new one.
  8. The worst part is trying to get the hook out of their mouths without hurting them. I carry a pair of forceps with me now since the pliers are too big to use.
  9. I'll start fishing a point where it meets the main shoreline. I work my way out to the end and then back to the shore again just in cast the bass want the bait from a certain angle.
  10. Very rarely do I take more than four rigs with me. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions it will be some type of combination of these. 6'6" MH/F casting for jigs 6'6" MH/F casting for Texas rigs, weightless flukes, and weightless stickbaits. 6'6" M/F casting for lighter moving baits 7'0" MH/F casting for heavy moving baits 6'6" M/F spinning for weightless plastics 6'6" M/F spinning for split shot rigs, or very light Texas rigs. 7'0" ML/F spinning for dropshot rig. 6'2" UL spinning for sunnies when the bass aren't biting.
  11. I've been using the same set of needle nose pliers for 20+ years. I'm not sure what brand they are.
  12. I came out this morning to go to work and saw this. Hit and run sometime between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. I didn't take a picture of it, but the right front wheel is straight. Got it hauled up to the body shop and they won't even be able to look at it for 2 to 3 weeks.
  13. I haven't been watching it either.
  14. I'll take a picture and then add text to the pic so I can remember the time, bait and conditions. When I get home I use the picture to update my fishing log. Afterward, the picture gets deleted unless the bass was a hawg.
  15. You had a cool trip! Great write up too.
  16. I'll fish them year round, but in the summer I will be fishing them deep most of the time. 10' down or more.

If the bottom doesn't have too many snags you could try a small jig and craw. I like a 1/8 oz. size for pressured water.
  18. Nothing, but if the bass are short striking, I'll add a trailer hook.
  19. I used to have a problem with jigs, but then I read that you retrieve them the same way as a Texas rigged bait. The determining factor for me is how thick is the cover I'm fishing. If the cover is patchy then I use a jig.
  20. I can sum up my summer with one word, grass. The bass have either been in the coontail, or around it. The larger bass have been down toward the bottom, with the smaller ones up near the surface. They haven't been chasing, but if you can get the crankbait close enough they will jump out to ambush it.
  21. That's easy. Either weightless or on a split shot rig. The bass around here see a ton of wacky rigs, and Texas rigs. They don't see a lot of split shot rigs with a plastic worm on the end.
  22. A jig, plastic worm, and a senko type bait. These three baits seem to work in a variety of different bodies of water regardless of the conditions.
  23. Weightless. If I fish with a weight and that exposed hook I tend to get snagged a lot.
  24. I'll try a Zoom finesse worm or a 6" Creme Scoundrel either weightless or on a split shot rig depending on the wind. If the cover is more on the patchy side I will fish with a 1/8 ounce jig, or a Texas rigged UV speedcraw. If I can get a moving bait through the cover then I'll try a small wakebait or a small floating minnow. If all else fails I will put on a 3" BPS Stik-O on a split shot rig.
