  1. I would start off with a weightless fluke or a weightless senko. If conditions are such that you need a weight then I would use a Texas rig with a very light weight on it.
  2. If I'm getting sunfish bites out in open water then I usually move to a new spot. If the sunfish aren't afraid to leave the cover then I thinking there are no larger predator fish around,
  3. I know this one! A black Jitterbug. I've had a lot of anglers call it an old fashioned lure.
  4. Tried and true 90% Something new 10% I get out on the water once a week, two or three times if I have some time off from work. With limited time I don't like to experiment.
  5. This is what I thought of, but I didn't know the name of it. I can see a young one going down to the water's edge after a sunfish, and a big bass going after it.
  6. I wouldn't ask the other guy if he has another bait, but if you already have one just like it in your tackle bag then I say go for it.
  7. I store my skirts the same way I store my line. Out the light and heat down in the basement in a drawer.
  8. I use the 4-3/8" and the 2-3/4" size floating minnow. The larger size catches bass, but the smaller size on an ultralight will catch everything. Around here they work better than jerkbaits for bass.
  9. St. Charles here, welcome aboard.
  10. Welcome neighbor! St. Charles here.
  11. Man @WaskaCrank12, one hook is bad enough, but two. Yikes!
  12. After hooking a bass, landing it is my primary goal. Fighting it is fun, but secondary.
  13. I tried a left handed baitcaster a couple of years ago. My brain just couldn't get used to it. After a cast I would start off trying to retrieve like it was a right handed reel. Bad news if I needed to bring the bait in quick.
  14. I use a M/F for moving baits between 3/16 and 3/8 oz. Heavier baits go on a MH/F rod.
  15. Weightless Zoom Finesse worm. Watermelon seed and black grape.
  16. Sending prayers now.
  17. After 3-1/2 weeks, she's finally back home. They had to replace everything on the left front side from the door to the bumper.
  18. Who knows, some of these greats may start up their own senior tour.
  19. I'm more interested in how the rod feels with a reel on it. I want the rig to feel balanced. I don't want the rod to feel like all the weight is down in one end or another.
  20. One of the essential items to carry while fishing.
  21. A few nice bass with a lot of dink bass and big sunfish thrown in during June and July.
  22. Back in the 70's there was a pay lake that my dad and I would fish. It was open 24 hours a day. We would head out to it around 5 or 6 in the afternoon, and fish into the night. Sometimes we got back home at 9:00 p.m., other times we got home at sunrise depending on how the fishing went. The main property was farmland. When the owner retired his children didn't want the farm so he sold the property to developers.
  23. On pressured water during the weekend the opposite is true. An empty lot usually means that nothing is biting.
  24. Glenn has a fish weight calculator under the tools section. I think you just plug in the numbers and it does the math for you.
  25. I've replaced washers and worn spacers on both Shimano and Daiwa reels. I really think how you fish with them partially determines how long the parts last.
