  1. There's not many pickerel around here, so I don't have a lot of experience with those I catch a few bass on frogs each season, but frogs aren't my #1 choice for a topwater bait in the water that I fish. Fishing in lily pads, I have better luck dragging a jig across the top of the pad and then letting it sink to the bottom after I pull it off the edge of the pad.
  2. Nothing like that around here, but when it rains I pretty much have the lake to myself.
  3. The dumpsters on the lakes I fish have construction material in them, and raccoons.
  4. I keep mine in the original packages. Then they all get organized based on brand and bait type.
  5. Break the momentum before they can get out of the water.
  6. My grandpa worked on the assembly line at a GM plant. He always said that after a car has been in a bad accident it's never the same again. We'll see.
  7. My insurance sent me the estimate that it received from the body shop. Close to $6300.00 damage. Left front suspension was completely destroyed. Wheel, tire, wheel cover, and left fender were ruined. The left front axle had to be replaced, and the front bumper needs replacing. Good news is they are able to get parts, and it should be ready by the middle of next week. Also, the frame and front rebar were not damaged.
  8. Nice! When it cools down here in the fall the bass will be going after flukes more.
  9. Welcome to the forums.
  10. That's cool, quite an achievement.
  11. Wow! What a trip.
  12. From one Scott to another, welcome to the forums.
  13. I listen to my gut all the time. Sometimes it is a little whisper that tells me to use a different color, and other times it yells at me in a panic to get off the water and go fish somewhere else.
  14. Around here you don't need buoys. You just look for the bobbers snagged on the brush piles.

Condolences for your family's loss. They are much more than pets.
  16. In the summer, I'll fish vegetation first because of the shade and oxygen. It doesn't matter what the water depth is.
  17. No way.
  18. I don't think age has anything to do with it. I think it is more about how you process what you are learning while out on the water.
  19. Around here it depends on the time of year, and weather conditions. It doesn't take much of a weather change to shut the bass down around here.
  20. No concerns at our house. The bait monkey doesn't visit here too often, and my wife and I both realize that there are a lot worse things to be spending money on.
  21. Most of the time when I go fishing I want to catch bass, but sometimes after a hard week at work I just like to get out and away from everything for a while.
  22. If I'm pond hopping I'll be fishing small farm type ponds that are around 3-5 acres in size. Depending on the weather and time of year, the bass in one pond may biting everything, while a pond around 1/2 mile away seems completely lifeless.
  23. I just turned 61. A normal fishing trip for me is getting on the water around 5 or 5:30 a.m. I usually head back in after about 8 hours. Six hours if I have really been using the trolling motor. If I am fishing from the bank, and the ponds are small, I might walk around 2 or 3 ponds before heading home around noon. I like to leave before the "lunchtime crowd" arrive at the lake.
  24. Nope. Mine was a Daiwa Millionaire 5B from the late 70's.
  25. Different shades of brown just don't seem to work around here. If I'm wanting to fish with a natural color I'll go with some type of green color. Red is another color. Once in a while it works, but I have much better luck with orange.
