Had the same problem about 10 years ago. All of my reels were like 20 years old, but they worked good. It took about a year and a half, but I bought all new rods and reels. I didn't want to be out somewhere on a trip and be put in the position where I had to buy a reel right then because one of my old ones broke.

You may be more accurate with a shorter rod, but I think practice has more to do with it than anything else.

Right now when I go out I usually take four with me. I could fish with one rig all season, but would I enjoy it?

1/16 white rooster tail. I have caught everything from bass to sunfish on that lure.

I like rat-l-traps and super spots. The only Rapala I have ever had any luck with was the broken minnow.

I have used poppers, and caught fish, in grass and around lily pads at noon when the sun is shining.

Try a harder hookset and see what happens. A lot of times the breaking point on line is more than what is stated on the package.

I love to dead stick them. It's really a rush when a fish takes that bait and you see the line start taking off.

I made it to 1:11 and 0:42. I couldn't take it any longer.

The four things I carry at all times while fishing: Wallet, knife, keys, and phone. It is not about theft so much as keeping safe. If I would set my tackle bag down and then fall down some rip rap all of my stuff would be in the bag. With everything on me I could call for help.
