  1. Good video. Nice tip on the trends.
  2. You didn't say if this was a new reel or an older one. Could the problem be that anti reverse bearing is starting to go out? I've had two go out on me over the years, and when it happened my first thought was a drag issue.
  3. My Name Is Nobody Outlaw Josie Wales Once Upon A Time In the West Unforgiven When I see these are on, I will try to watch them.
  4. I trim the skirt on a finesse jig so the strands are past the hook maybe 1/4 inch or so. The fuller the skirt, the closer to the hook I trim the material. I have fished a couple of jigs the the short skirt strands around the jig head, but I have never noticed any difference in the bite.
  5. So far this winter the only new items I have, I got for Christmas. I do plan on picking up a new reel for frogs, and maybe some plastics that I'm running low on.
  6. Yesterday was the first day in 10 days the high made it over freezing. The rest of this week the high temps will be in the 40's and 50's. I'm hoping that when this thaw ends that the temps will stay out of the single digits.
  7. A lot of times after the Spring Classic ends, they will have certain rods on sale for the price you would have gotten with a trade in.
  8. Shimano SLX on a BPS Bionic Blade. 1/4 ounce is no problem to cast. Depending on the bait, a 3/16 ounce may take some getting used to.
  9. When I remember to tighten it up, it's by feel.
  10. I'll be starting with a lipless crankbait. If that doesn't work then I'll change over to a swim jig or spinnerbait and slow roll it across the bottom.
  11. The heaviest bait I've fished with is one ounce. The longest is a 12 inch worm. In a lot of the lakes around me the bass seem to want a bait with a smaller profile.
  12. I use the standard 3600 and 3700 size boxes. I like to keep each type of bait in their own box, but sometimes out on the water I don't have time to organize. My spinnerbaits are kept in an old Plano spinnerbait box. Instead of trays it has hangers that the hooks go over.
  13. Some type of moving bait works best for me. Spinnerbaits, Swim jigs, and crankbaits are what I start with.
  14. It depends on the water I'm fishing. The bass in any given body of water in my area may like a buzzbait or a Jitterbug, while they won't touch a popper or a walking bait. If I can figure out the bait that the bass want, then I can usually catch them all season on that one style of bait.
  15. I don't have any problem with keeping a bass if it is legal to do so, or if it will help the body of water produce larger bass. Personally, I think that bluegill, and crappie taste better.
  16. Welcome to the forums. You have some great catches.
  17. Plastic worms work any time of year.
  18. I use 10 lb in the spring and in the fall. I go down to 8 lb in the summer when the bass get picky.
  19. Most of the time it depends on where I am fishing. I use a split shot rig, Texas rig, or weightless Texas rig around vegetation and brush. If I happen to be fishing around open water I'll try a presentation with an exposed hook.
  20. I don't deep crank much any more. When I do, I tend to use a mh/f 7'-0" rod. I think the longer, heavier rod helps with the resistance while bringing in the bait.
  21. Years ago my dad caught a few bass on a Heddon Big Bud. I thought he was fooling until I saw a pic that his friend took.
  22. It's time to start cleaning reels.
  23. I don't go on a trip if the high temperature is not going above freezing. It is too much of a pain to deal with frozen guides and frozen level winds.
  24. We had a very slight dusting and a little blowing snow yesterday morning. I'm always amazed when some of these drivers actually try to spin and make their vehicle slide.
