Noob Question Crappie/bluegill
you want bluegill on a lure, get a rebel tad fry or a rebel crickhopper. i prefer the tad fry a little more though for bluegill. its a floater/diver and works well for me...

I Might Be A Rage-Aholic
i got hooked on the rage tail plastics 2 or 3 years ago. i kept reading about them here and was tempted enough to give them a try(unlike shimano reels). i havent fished them all but have had success on the ones i have fished. they have produced for me better than any other brand plastics i have ever used. i like the lizards and toads a lot, but my favorite has to be the baby rage craw. i love fishing it weightless t-rigged on a 1/0 gamakatsu worm hook, what a blast on light tackle...

Changing Out Hooks
i never change the stock hooks out on any bait out of the box. only time i ever changed hooks out is if i broke the hook or bent it. which is usually because if snagged it on something like a stump under the water and the hook bends and comes loose before my line breaks. any hooks i broke, well, it was my fault. i yanked the bait out of a tree and it sling shotted back at me and the front treble went through my tshirt, jeans and one hook point into my leg but not past the barb luckily. the back treble went through my tshirt and back pocket and the hook broke yanking it out i think its ridiculous to blame losing one fish or even two on stock treble hooks. sometimes you just dont get a good hookset on the fish, like its barely hooked in the lip or something. now, if you have repeated problems of losing fish on a certain lure, then its probably worth it to change the hooks...

Reviews Forum?
i dont think this site needs a reviews section. everything already gets reviewed in the tackle and rod/reel/etc forums. sometimes you may need to go beyond the first page of a given forum to find what youre looking for, and as mentioned the search feature can help you find what youre looking for in most all instances. sometimes i think people just need to look around a little more before starting their thread, because lots of times there is already an active thread on a given product on the front page of that forum...

Just A Quick Newbie Observation
bass fishing can be as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it. it can also be as hard or as easy as you want to make it. most people dont run out and buy 15 rod and reel combos all at once. you will see a lot of stuff build up over time. starting with one or two combos is just fine as many here have said, maybe put small line on one and bigger line on the other. same with tackle, buy a few lures and a few bags of soft plastics, some various hooks and sinkers and you are good to go. over the course of time you will pick up a few lures here or there, next thing you know you got stuff sitting around you have yet to fish with still in the original packaging. after a year or two you may want a new rod or a new reel or both, you will end up with a collection of them in a few years. some guys even sell some of their old equipment to help fund their new stuff. also, as you start to settle in and learn what works for you and what kind of fishing presentations you prefer that will help you narrow things down a bit as to what you actually need/want to buy... you can go out thinking youre prepared as ever. having studied the weather, the body of water, what presentations you think will work that day, and all that stuff...and still end up with no fish, so dont let that get you down because sometimes it just happens. even the elites dont get their 5 bass limit of keepers some days...

Would You Call In Sick To Go Fishing?
id love to, thought about it plenty of times, but never actually did it. lots of times ive called in sick and then work will call me at home to ask me questions about something, so if im not home or dont call back in a reasonable amount of time, they can pretty much figure i lied.

Setting Drag
i set mine by feel, never used a scale. i tighten it all the way down, then back it off until i can pull some off by hand, and may tweak it a little from there. the way i set it, bigger fish can go on runs and the smaller ones dont have hooks ripped out of their mouths during the fight... i refuse to set my drag too loose. last thing i need is to reel a fish up to the dock, take my hand off the reel, get the net in my hand and go to net it and have the fish start peeling off drag out of net range while i dont have a free hand to reel it back in...

Completely Frustrated With Spinning Reel Line Loops
looks like too much line to me too, but aside from that, sometimes it just helps to get your line wet and put some tension on it

How Many At Once?
never with bass, but once with white perch while fishing with night crawlers. had a single gold abeerdeen hook on. swung in a white perch up on the dock and another falls off, one was hooked in the mouth and the other i guess just hung on to the hook shank for the ride.

Where Do You Draw The Line With Wind?

Deeply Hooked Bass
^^^this as of others have said, its one of the most important best things i have ever learned on this site. and it works to perfection. in fact, i think that just the post of Glenns should be pinned at the top of the forum as this question comes up a few times a year. no need to pinch the barb either, the hook will pop right out with this method

Pond Fishing
weightless t-rigged berkley red shad shakey worms. baby rage tail craws weightless. you can fish them on the bottom, swim them in the water, or fish them as a top water. rage tail toads and rage tail lizards are also killer in ponds. zoom lizards are good too. solid white spinner bait with a red belly on the head. solid white buzz bait.
