  1. I'll be bolting on the TM and a pedestal base soon.
  2. I regret to inform everyone that I won't be able to attend the RT this year. With the wife still out of work after 2 years it's just a financial matter at this point and money spent for the trip could be better spent elsewhere. Hope you guys have a great time and for those that will be fishing with burley.......... make sure he has his cell phone on before he goes to bed. ;D Catch em up and be safe.
  3. Tail down on the Gator tails.
  4. Some pictures would help along with a description of the general condition of the boat.
  5. I would suggest posting a picture of the boat and give us an idea of exactly how much you intend to cut out.
  6. As long as that junk is grossly overpriced they'll sell it. A few of the customers will come from this forum.
  7. The problem with the premise is that each individual bad decision made while boating (not intentional stupid decisions like jumping barge wakes on purpose for example) was made, usually as a result of an unforeseen circumstance that occurred while boating. It was that split second decision you were forced to make that either turned out good or not so good. It's the kind of thing a newbie boater will have to learn on their own and part of that learning curve is knowing the limitations of the boat and their ability to drive the boat to it's limits should one of those "emergency" situations arise.
  8. I'm a pretty boring boat driver these days compared to my youth. I've done some things purposely that make me thank God I got this far in life.

I've been using progressives for quite a few years now. No problems what-so-ever unless I'm in the recliner trying to watch TV.

They said during the race that the 3 compounds they tried weren't meant to setup given the cold temps and the fact that there was moisture under the track due to all the rain they had had the previous week. The compound they used for the 2nd patch, the white stuff, was supposed to work better though it sounded like it was coming apart too.
  11. It's a gimmick that's caught on. The SG rods allow for fancy bling to be painted onto the rod both on the handle area and where the foregrip would go. As for weight reduction? How much does cork weigh? If that little weight is an issue I'd suggest some time in the gym. Sensitivity? First, I don't have my hands up on the foregrip area to begin with though the foregrip area missing is not that big a deal. What little dampening happens with the cork missing isn't worth not having the cork there. It's a personal choice matter really.
  12. Thoroughly go over the boat. Have the engine checked by a qualified mechanic. Check the transom and floor for soft spots which could indicate rotted stringers. \ The 360 series were 18 1/2 footers as I recall. Not the best riding boats. Decent to fish out of.
  13. You've probably got a rotary style Teleflex brand system. It's been the most common in the industry for years. As old as that boat is, your best bet is to change both cable and helm as the helm is probably a bit sloppy due to age. A single cable complete system is not real expensive and not too terribly hard to replace.
  14. There are several ways to do-it-yourself on the transom, they all will require cutting the top off the transom cap. There are a couple non-wood solutions, Seacast is one, to make the repair but you're looking at around $500-600 to do it right. You could redo it with wood for less than half that but the job will be more intensive and you'll need to know something about fiberglass work to finish the job right. I think I'd look for another boat.
  15. So you're saying if I buy a new Nitro from BPS I cant have it serviced by a local Nitro dealer? only through BPS? makes no sense. I think what he's saying is that service after the sale is different if you buy from a dealer. Not sayin they won't service the equip, just that the level of service is different. I spent 20+ yrs in the marine industry. cart is dead on with this one. Nick Exactly. Most BPS stores do not have a shop on site for repairs. An outside servicer will have to come to the store to make any repairs..... when they feel like it. In comparison, an independant dealer has a vested interest in keeping you happy as a buyer. Your boat will go to the front of the line in the event it needs repair in or out of warranty vs. buying from a BPS store and then taking it to them (the Nitro/Tracker dealer you didn't buy it from) if it needs warranty work. BTW, one of the biggest complaints I hear about those brands is the poor customer service buyers receive after purchasing straight from a BPS store. You rarely hear of the same complaints from owners that purchase from a Nitro/Tracker independant dealer.
  16. Not sure. Whatever brand you buy make sure it at least has an aluminum frame and NO GRAPHITE END PLATES. Also, check to see if it was pre-lubed with Hot sauce. You don't want that stuff gumming up your works.

Letting a Nascar race end under yellow results in the track and drivers getting pelted with flying beer cans, coolers and chicken buckets. They're manipulating the end of the race in order to quell the masses.
  18. If you're wanting to buy a Tracker or Nitro I would advise going with a local dealer who sells them vs. a BPS store. A dealer will have on-sight repair available with their own mechanics vs. a BPS store who has to outsource their work.
  19. Here's the address to that house. 5028 New Bridge Road, Fayetteville, AR Put it into Google earth, there's a street view of those houses, obviously finished. The grade, while steep, isn't like the photo shown.
  20. Actually, Abu introduced a reel in the early 80's. the Ultra Mag XLT Plus, a European version reel that made it to the US, which that had the level wind disengage and free float on the spindle as the line fed out during the cast. When you re-engaged the reel the level wind guide re-engaged and operated normally. The idea was ideal as the line guide free floating reduced the amount of friction the line experienced as it left the spool vs. having to move through a fixed line guide. The feature was last seen on early versions of the 521 XLT around 1985. Great idea that just never took off. It did make for a more complicated level wind assembly.
