BOAT COVER
Typical low cost covers sold by BPS or Cabela's will last you around 4-5 years before they start to come apart. You can do better with a custom made one. In St Louis, Pat's covers at I-270 and Tesson Ferry are the best but they're pricey. I always put a tarp over the top of the cover while stored to lengthen the covers life.

St. Louis Area Fishermen
Hey, I fish the Meremac on weeknights as well. Best local fishing there is IMO. Baldwin is plenty big. In fact, it is so big, that if the winds are too strong, they say it can be dangerous to put a boat in. I haven't experienced that yet, but I believe them. I have always wanted to try the Meramec but never have. If I can ask, what kind of lures/techniques do you guys use and how well have you done there? Oh yes, where on the meramec do you fish...more towards Eureka or more towards Fenton? Thanks fellas. The river has a pretty decent population of bass in it. Where you fish depends on what you're fishing out of. If you're wanting to fish out of a standard bass boat, fiberglass or tin, the only reliable year round launch site is at George Winter park in Fenton. In low water conditions, even George Winter can be dicey to launch from. The marina is on the opposite side of the river from GW and up river about 1/4 mile. It's always accessible though the ramp is steep and there is a fee. Getting out of the chute from marina area into the river might find you poling as the entrance is often silted in. Because Winter Bros. harvests sand much of the year, they keep the channel dredged from their facility down river to the entrance to the big circle coves (you can see those on google earth). Beyond that you're on your own and a jet drive is mandatory in low water as there are a number of shallow shoals at certain points both above and below GW park. Standard bass lures have always worked for me. Spinnerbaits, cranks, RatLtraps, jigs, etc. My best success has been from the Flamm City access (Telegraph Rd) up river. Right now, with the river up due to Mississippi flooding, you can launch from the Marshall Rd access all the way down to the Flamm city access which is off of Telegraph road. With the river at it's current level, I've run from the confluence of the Mississippi all the way up past Castlewood State park in my Champion bass boat. The river narrows quite a bit beyond Castlewood and going up to say Eureka isn't doable without a jet drive even in high water.

Excel Monofilament
I've used it. Decent line. No real complaints other than it's not a line you'll get a half season or more out of. The bulk spool prices are cheap so it's affordable to change often.

St. Louis Area Fishermen
Fished it for a couple years on and off. Caught fish up to 4lbs out of it. Not a lot of bass in that lake. There are some decent fish though and I have had a couple trips of catching 5 fish that averaged around 2-3lbs each but that is not the norm. I have no idea how that lake has been since the big flood a couple years ago. The Meramac completely engulfed the lake. Don't know if the bass stayed or went. The boat ramp sux.

If money were no object, which bass boat would you choose and why?
I'd find the best condition Champion 202 I could find and drop a new Yammie SHO on the back. Yes, the boat would easily be 10 years old but the 202's were one of the best running boats ever.

New or Used??
New the good - Order it the way you want it. Warranties. New the bad - They depreciate worse than cars. Used the good - Save $$$$ over new. If the boat is new enough, the warranties transfer. Used the bad - Dings, problems inherited from previous owner. Not exactly the colors you'd like, etc. I've bought both, used is the way to go.

Livewell Advice
Are you talking about making a fixed livewell using a compartment in the boat or utilizing a cooler that would be removable?

14' Crosby Tri Hull
A lot more work ahead of you than I'd be willing to invest in that boat.

Bristol
They've over maxed their fanbase on affordability. Tickets are overpriced. Local hotels, restaurants, etc. bilk the typical fans by jacking prices 2-3 times. Boring races, boring cars. And they've wizzed off a lot of their stronghold fanbase (southerners) by eliminating old races and moving them North of the Mason Dixon line using growth as the excuse. BTW, notice how few Southern drivers are actually in the sport anymore? Less than 6 in cup full time if I recall.

1998 Fisher Dominator 16'
Fisher has been around a long while. Selling aluminum bass boats long before Tracker ever did. I have no idea about the quality of the boats being built after They became a division of Tracker boats.

NEWWWWWWWWWWWWW RECORD!
I dunno. Doesn't look like it's an ounce over 14. Unless the angler has a bigger head than normal, smallish hands, a shorter than average torso and a shoe size around 8 I've gotta call this bluff. I'm sure our resident experts will weigh (arr arr) in on this one shortly (get it? Shortly?)

Worm Burn?
Also had a similar but not identical issue with Quantum finishes. The spool thing has me puzzled. Seems as though something got on that reel to cause that damage

Best way to ship a rod?
Lowes sells sched. 40 2" well casing pvc pipe for around $4 for a 10ft section. Wrap the entire rod in thin foam, plastic grocery bags or very thin bubble wrap. I always cut the tube around 1" longer than the rod length. I use the mylar type packing tape to securely seal one end of the pipe first, Slide the butt end in first. Make sure there's enough packing around the rod in at least a couple spots on the blank that it's securely supported mid-rod. Make sure the tip is well wrapped. Seal the tip end of the pipe. Mark on the tube with magic marker TIP END/BUTT END so the person on the other end knows which end is which. Good luck. I've never had a problem with that well casing pipe.

Flash forward and V back on the air
Don't care about V but I missed Flash forward. I'll have to watch the review show on-line. Lost? Geezo. They're running out of episodes and they're continuing to ADD more characters from out of the blue. I still expect Desmond to be a player in this before it's over.

Need a user manual for early 90's Cajun
Some bass boat makers even in the 80's (Ranger for example) provided boat manuals that did/do a pretty good job of explaining live well plumbing, 24v trolling motor systems, dash and bow switch panels, bow to transom wiring schematics, etc... Now granted, none of this stuff is rocket science.... you can live without them... Not many. Back in the 80's boats were still final rigged at the dealer. The wiring/plumbing on one boat may not be exactly the same as on another bought from another dealer. Bass boats from the factory just don't have the kind of gear on them like an auto. Climate controls, radio's, gear shifting, etc. etc. What little there was could be easily explained by the dealer at the time of pickup. Most manuals I've ever seen were more of a beginners guide to how to operate and drive a boat.

Need a user manual for early 90's Cajun
manual for boat = Back boat into water. Start engine. Drive boat. Be safe. There was no such thing as an owners manual for a boat. Certainly not like for a car. Most manufacturers only put standard USCG info in those. Try a Clymers manual for the engine. Available on ebay. An Owners manuals for something that old just won't be found.

Grits Gresham "The Complete Book of Bass Fishing"
He was an outdoor writer along with being a contributing writer to BASSMASTER magazine way back. Worked with Delhi boats and helped in designing the Terry bass boats. Those were considered one of the cadillac boats of the day.

Tow Vechile
Never towed a boat with a vechile so I can't help there. You might want to look into a pickup truck or SUV.

Why do we still see vertical holds with large fish?
I'm likely to keep my larger bass in a horizontal position after catching.

can anyone tell me
:-? Do you mean when you turn each motor off that one continues to run? Could be a bad on/off switch not switching off. If that's a bilge pump it's possible it's hooked to a automatic pump switch and that's stuck in the on position. Kinda hard to figure out what you've got with such a small picture.

I was kind of surprised that, when doing a thorough search on the net, I could find no type of fishing boat rentals available in the area of the RT site. It would seem that making sure that there is an availability of boat rentals would be an absolute must for future events given how many folks come to these boatless, often due to the distance, flying in or not owning a boat.

Pflueger Summit reel?
I have a Summit. Nice reel. The weight doesn't bother me as I work out a gym to prevent having limp wrists that might make a .5 oz difference in weight seem like a brick.

Steering cable question
Teleflex is the website you need to go to. They have a measuring system that shows you how to determine the correct length for your boat. As old as your boat is I'd suggest replacing both the cable(s) and helm. No point in hooking a new cable up to a helm that has slop in it due to age. You really don't want to mess around with your boats steering system. Spend the money to do it right.

Stick Jacket
All Blue & Yellow? I think we have ourselves a Wolverine fan here. ;D I have all blue and yellow. Not stick jackets though. I bought mine from FiveBassLimit right here at BR. Those are the only colors he's had available.
