cd player gets really hot
when you stuff one in the dash of your vehicle, it is usually next to a heat duct with no breathing room. Boss is the key problem here or too small of wiring. Unless he's speaking that the faceplate on his radio itself is getting hot, just how would you know if a radio installed into a car dash is getting too hot?

fish doesnt recover from hookset
I agree to an extent. If you fish, you need to be responsible for the fish that get mortally injured. I hate gut hooking them, and I dislike seeing them bleeding profusely, but it happens, its inevitable, and most people have empathy for them when it happens, I know I do. When I do injure them beyond recovery though, I take them home to make sure they dont go to waste. With my 5 year old son, I tell him that since we injured the fish, its our fault that he is going to die, and so its our responsibility to make sure that he doesnt go to waste. We take him home and eat him. We dont throw him back and "hope for the best". However, I also have a daughter, and I won't be able to be as blunt with her when she comes of age because she wouldnt understand the "matter of fact" simplicity of the situation and just accept it like my boy does. The circle of life topic would definately be broached, but it would be with us taking the fish home to eat because we are the ones responsible for it's death. ps, I would never recommend staying home and playing video games with kids instead of fishing with them. Not sure I understand why a different explanation is needed for a girl, 5 years of age vs. a boy the same age. That young girl is just as capable of understanding the circle of life along with the taking of fish for consumption due to deep hooking as the young boy is. Sounds like you're ready to patronize your daughter and not give her the benefit of the doubt for her emotional capabilities compared to your son. Children, even at that young of age, boy or girl, are quite capable of handling the emotions of a situation like that if the parent takes the time to explain it to them.

fish doesnt recover from hookset
Certainly don't tell her the truth. Don't tell her what's in those fish sandwiches at Micky D's. Don't let her know that in many parts of the world, people owe their very survival to harvesting fish in order to eat or sell to others. Instead, explain to her how you find amusement in ramming a super sharp set of steel hooks into the mouths of one of God's creatures. That you really get turned on by that and that you'd like for her to eventually have the same feeling. Teach her that unfortunately, while you're pursuing that thrill, the fish stupidly inhale the hook too deeply, sometimes into it's gills if the fish is really stupid and the result is the death of the fish. Blame it all on the fish. It was it's own fault. Whatever you do, don't tell her the truth about fishing, fish harvesting or what's in those fish sandwiches! She'll be emotionally scarred for life.

Any dream interpreters?
i think dave and catt pretty much nailed it but this one rings scary truth. i don't feel like i'm drowning but i could have a clinger on my hands. you can't make a happy human family with a bass so she's just gonna have to live with me splitting my attention with my bassin'.could her dreams be creepin into my head while we sleep? thanks dudes Are her dreams creeping into your head? She sounds like the type those Lifetime Womens channel movies are made about. It will be an axe in your head or your bed set on fire if you even think about leaving that nutcase, clingy broad. Valerie Bertinelli can play the part of your girl friend, who do you want to play the part of you?

Learning to fish on your own
My Dad knew how to fish, he just didn't like to. He considered it a waste of time. There was Bassmaster magazine, Field and Stream, Outdoor Life and maybe one other as far as written literature. The only TV show available for me to learn from was Virgil Ward. There was no internet. There was no satellite TV or cable TV or VCR's or DVD's. I joined BASS in 1974 at age 16. I joined my first club at age 18. I probably advanced my fishing abilities the quickest by joining the club and learning from others. With what's available on just this site alone it's completely doable to teach yourself to fish and in a relatively short time span.

Is the front of the boat an advantage?
That's not as funny as it sounds. On really windy days I'll often point the nose of the boat into the wind and allow for a slow, controlled drift backwards using the TM for course correction and to keep the backwards drift under control speed wise. It actually works out way better than attempting to fight into the wind. The obvious advantage is to the guy in the back of the boat.

Old Wiggle Wart v. new Wiggle Wart
I have quite a few old WW's but none of the new. Since I've never fished them side by side myself I can't say for sure but the guys I know that are WW addicts say the old are better. If you look at the 2 though, the old baits have the mold seam ridge down the back that on most of the baits is rather rough. The new baits are smooth. It seems odd that the worse looking of the 2 baits (build wise) is the better bait. BTW, I have no experience with the Brads Wigglers but those have been sold on Ebay for quite awhile and come up under a wiggle wart search.

BPS Pro Qualifier
Good point. BPS has done this in the past with the Johnny Morris line by simply re-hashing old reels and using the JM moniker on it and adding the term "limited edition". You wound up getting a reel that was 2-3 model years old. :

What BR member would you choose to fish with...
Don't lie. You ever get those pee stains off the back deck? I anticipated your attendance in my boat and had the presence of mind to Scotch guard the entire back deck. I still haven't figured out how to get that yellow pin striping off the engine cowl...... What were you drinking anyway? ;D

BPS Pro Qualifier
I have one. It's impressive. It's outstanding at a sale price of $80. Easily the best bargain in a baitcasting reel period.

What BR member would you choose to fish with...
I've had the pleasure of fishing with a number of members here, both on the RT and local get togethers, I'd fish with all of them again.

Shark--IN ILLINOIS!
Roughly 965 river miles from the mouth of the Mississippi to Olmstead Il on the Ohio. Give or take 20 miles or so. From Wikipedia:

Shark--IN ILLINOIS!
You would be wrong. The bull shark is the only member of the Shark family capable of living in freshwater... and they do it quite well. Bull Sharks are well known to inhabit freshwater rivers in search for food. Some can travel great distances.

Best rod for walking the dog.
Rod length has nothing to do with your ability to walk the dog. Some of my best walking was done with a 5 1/2 foot rod. The technique has everything to do with the rod tip snap, the amount of slack in the line at the time of the snap and the timing and amount of retrieve as you perform it. Sort of like walking and chewing gum at the same time though this retrieve is a little harder than that. It sounds like you have insufficient slack in the line as you snap the rod tip. Here's a few tips: How good you can walk the dog is really based on your mechanics and your ability to perform them. While a MHVY/fast rod may work well for some, a medium/fast or Med ex-fast may work better for you. Even a Med/light, ex-fast is doable. Forget rod length as the only answer, it's in your mechanics. Try different rods in your arsenal and see which one works best for you. There is no cut and dry answer for the best rod length or action. Try other reels with different retrieve speeds as well. Don't use braid. Practice, practice, practice. Good luck.

All Star Platinum Rods
The Platinums were the replacement for the Titaniums. Same blank without the Titanium guides. The first Platinums were Houston made. The line isn't even made anymore and once Pure fishing bought them out it's probable they moved manufacture off shore. Any "new" Platinums still being sold today would be later version, non-USA rods. I've fished the early version USA Platinums and they fished as good as a Titanium. Great rods with high dollar sensitivity at a low price. They're tough too. You will literally have to step on one to break them, chips and nicks in the blanks are not a problem.

Fishing in the wind
If you're not fishing in windy areas, especially where wind is causing wave or current action to interact with underwater structure of some kind due to the "discomfort" it causes you or the fact you just aren't good at multi-tasking, you probably aren't catching anywhere near as many fish as you could be if you'd just sack it up and realize that the Wind is your friend.

Newbie...How would you fish this?
Fish the following, the order is not terribly important: Crankbaits Topwaters Buzzbaits Spinnerbaits Plastic worms Creature baits Swim baits Drop shot Senko's Tubes Frogs Lipless cranks Jigs Spoons C-rigged soft plastic As soon as you catch a fish on one of these, continue to fish that bait and attempt to catch another. That is all.

Hunting
I always found poaching a more preferable way to hunt myself as well. W-a-y fewer people in the woods plus you don't have to worry about others horning in on my baited, food plot with decoys below my air conditioned/heated tree tower with the built-in TV and recliner.

I will be at Bristol for NASCAR in August. :)
I think he was referring to the type of bugs that might jump from one of those 160,000 fans onto you. Drink lots of beer. Have the number 88 shaved into your back hair and go shirtless. If that 24 guy wins, heave your beer can onto the track. Despite the advertised laps for the race, they often go extra laps in order to get the finish just right for the fans in order to prevent those beer cans, chicken buckets and coolers from getting tossed onto the track. I'd suggest rappelling gear. While I've never been, I understand the steps to the seating at Bristol are at a 45 degree angle. Absolutely don't tell anyone you're from CA unless you can run to a vehicle and make a quick getaway. Since we know you're more familiar with cars and forms of racing a little more refined you need to know that a car that has understeer is tight. That it's perfectly normal for a driver to use his car as a weapon during a race and run into other drivers, INTENTIONALLY during a race.... whether he's penalized depends on who the driver is. The Bristol race is somewhere around 800 laps and usually like 8-9 hours long. There is a real possibility of arterial thrombosis in your legs sitting all cramped up with 160,000 other diehards. Wear support hose. I figured you more as a Monaco or Le Mans type of person but in any case, Enjoy your day at the races, I'm sure it will be quite an experience.

LBH is here.
True. He also has the choice to ride in a seat like grownup, full sized adults or in an overhead baggage compartment.

Lake of the Ozarks Help....
The LMB spawn is over. The shad may be spawning at that time. If that's the case, try crankbaits on rocky main lake points, very shallow. Otherwise, stay in the main creek arms off the Osage and fish brush around docks. Docks in 6-18ft would be my choice. The Niangua arm and Linn Creek are always good. You could have a nice topwater bite going on those docks as well.

What tournament do you fish?
The IMD series. I've already locked AOY and am ahead of Skeet and KVD, Skeet is closest but still 696 points behind. I don't even have to fish the rest of the season till the classic.

how hard is it to do boat carpet?
Remove your lids. Scrape off the old adhesive. (this will actually be the hardest part). As stated, Henry's for the flat surfaces and contact cement for the edges and and corners. Both can be had at Lowes or HD. Get boat carpet, not anything else that has a looped pile. Remember that all carpet has a grain. Lay everything out in one direction. Good luck.

Identify this boat?
Check the transom area carefully, both outside and up under. There should be a serial number or model number on there unless somebody removed it.
