anti-fatigue mat
Yep. Used standard Henry's carpet glue. Glue down the matting. I put a sheet of plywood across the top of it with bricks on that to weight it down. (Didn't want any indentations in it when it set up). As you can see, I didn't go all the way to the outside edges of the deck. At the deck/mat joint I put cut a slight bevel on the matting to make the transition smoother. Thoroughly glop the Henry's on the matting. After laying the carpet out onto the glue, you really want to work the carpet to the outside edges. At the deck/mat joint I tacked staples there in order to hold the carpet tight into the glue at the joint. I removed the staples later. Again, I layed a plywood sheet with bricks on top to make sure the carpet layed tight to the matting without creating indentations. Good luck.

BAITCASTING REELS
If you were going to buy 5 reels would you have started 5 separate threads on each one? :

anti-fatigue mat
Lowes has stuff called anti-fatigue matting. Here's the stuff I used on my deck/recarpet job. Here's the finished job. It comes on a roll back in the carpet department. IIRC, 3 feet wide. $4 a foot. Cuts easily.

Pickwick Road Trip
Irony. The guy from Wisconsin is dressed like he climbed Everest that day and the guy next to him from Texas looks like he's dressed for a slightly chilly day at the beach. ;D

Pickwick Road Trip
Fixed it for you. Seriously. Even if 20 some odd folks show up and it's not enough for KVD or another pro to show up for, who cares? Are these RT's about forum members getting together on quality lakes and trying to catch some fish or are they about get aways to higher quality lodges/resorts with meeting rooms, banquet facilities and getting some "names" to show up? Honestly, I would love to be there and who'd have guessed way last year when I originally committed to go that my wife would still be unemployed all these months later making it impossible for me to go financially. Hope this all turns out for the good, hate to see these things end because they're not increasing in size every year.

Fishing stock ponds for T.V. shows....
Uh.. have you tried going to the RT website? They have video's there that actually show how the product is supposed to be used vs. a TV fishing show which is for entertainment purposes first, then if advertised, instrutional purposes. There is plenty of media out there for instructional purposes. Insisting that every fishing show be some sort of real world day on the lake experience isn't practical nor would it sell. I suspect ratings would tumble if we tuned in and watched fishing shows in real time with cast after cast after cast made with little catching in between and those fish caught often not exceeding 1 1/2 lbs.

Pickwick Road Trip
Meeting rooms? Dining arrangments?? Sounds so hoity-toity. Mike, I've got a 55 gallon burn barrel at the house if you want to pick it up on the way down for use in a pinch. Some firewood you can cut on the grounds along with a bunch of beer from the gas station/liquor store RW said you can crawl to in an emergency and I think you're set.

Pickwick Road Trip
I had no idea my public announcement would cause such an apathetic reaction to the road trip by the membership. To all potential Road trip attendee's. While I'm very sorry I can't attend, which is probably the reason for you wanting to change your plans. (who can blame you) There is possibly going to be this guy, Kevin Van Dam, who might make an appearance along with a couple other of those Elite pro guys. While I understand that barely makes up for the heartbreak you've suffered learning of my non-attendance, please give those pro's a chance. Some of them know a few things about fishing you can learn from them that I might not know. Besides, if the trip gets cancelled, Mike gets stuck back at home ducking his wife's honey do list for a week.

It's official today.
Good on her. CNO is the top dog in most hospitals. The last word on day to day operations. A job with a huge amount of responsibility and not given to just anyone.

Worst time hooking yourself
Caught a small 1 1/2 lber on a Rogue. Lipped the fish. It only had the middle treble hooking it by the outside of mouth. The fish was jumpy and immediately imbedded the front treble into my right hand that was holding the fish. Quickly attempted to undo the fish with my left hand when Mr. Jumpy flopped again..... this time imbedding the back trebles into my left hand... uh oh........ thank god I was fishing with a partner. Had that happened when I was fishing alone I'm not sure what I would've done.

How big?
If I could see it filleted and in a skillet I could make a better guestimate. 1-6lbs otherwise.

How much more can I feel with a rod having no foregrip??
How in the hell are you palming a baitcasting reel and have 2 fingers on the foregrip area? :-?

TX Tourney Trails Need Change
Unless clear data showing a correlation between excessive fish kills/fish population/fish health problems can be drawn I think the use of that as an excuse to limit tournaments anywhere should be tossed out. In fact, tournament bass fishing has done a pretty good job with it's "Don't kill your catch" philosophy instilled by Ray Scott and BASS lo these many years later though I do believe there is vast room for improvement in the area of holding tournaments in the summer months. That said. Where I have an issue is in my state, Missouri, is at clogged, public boat ramps and public use areas paid for by tax dollars by ALL fishermen, not just tournament players. Most of the major reservoirs in this state have at least one large 100+ boat tourney going on every weekend plus other smaller ones. Tournament organizations are using publicly funded facilities for profit without paying for the right, along with having to make some concessions to other taxpaying boat owning fishermen who wish to use the facility but can't because of the inconvenience due to the TX's use of said facility. IMO, petitioning a state's boating law enforcement facility and requesting that tournament organizations pay a users fee based on number of boats participating in the events. The funds to go towards adding additional land for the creation of boat launching facilities to alleviate the crowding that occurs now due to the tournaments. Lets face it. Tournament fishing is merely a different form of legalized gambling with more skill involved than a typical game of chance. Allowing a company to profit from the use of a public use facility that's paid for by tax payers without them compensating said taxpayers is wrong.

What are you most happy about that you added to your boat?
If you decide to add those wenches just remember.... what happens on these boards stays on these boards....

A word to the wise about boat conversions.
No kidding. I was in one that almost went down. While it's nice to know the USCG is watching out for us boaters and making sure the boats out today have adequate flotation, the testing used to test boats is rarely what actually happens in the real world out on the water. A controlled flooding of a boat in a test tank is a whole worlds different than a 5 foot barge roller coming over the stern.

Why KVD?
I suspect that we're seeing the Tiger Woods effect in so far as KVD in bass fishing. Kevin shows up for a tournament and 80% of the competition has already accepted the fact they're fishing for 2nd place at best. And that's before anyone's made a single cast. By day 2 of the tournament there's maybe a handful left that think they can win and even they suffer from self doubt to the point they're one cast away from a complete meltdown. KVD, much like Tiger is possibly the best to have ever played in his sport. Unfortunately there is nobody there with the balls to flex their muscles and take it to him. Tiger probably wouldn't have won as many majors had a guy like Nicklaus been around to give him competition. KVD needs someone like a Roland Martin, Larry Nixon or a Rick Clunn in their primes to do the same. The new breed golfers/anglers are too soft. Tiger or Kevin have already psyched most of them out without even having to work very hard for it. Somebody has to make those guys sweat for some of their victories, nobody is.

Abu Garcia Black Max improvement tips
They're some sort of plastic/composite reel. Not sure what you can do to improve them. I used a couple Silver Max's for a few trips just to try out those plastic reels. They cast a country mile. Unfortunately 2 of the 3 I used (these were New btw) seemed to have problems at reel engagement with unusual noises when reeling back in. I guess the tolerances on alignments were very "loose". I'm really wondering if you could get a couple seasons out of any of them if they were fished really hard.

A word to the wise about boat conversions.
I suppose that would be true of modifying just about anything to something different than what it was intentionally designed for. Common sense really. Add a deck onto a 10 foot Semi V that's flush with the gunwales and expect to go swimming everytime you so little as sneeze.

Worst Lure ever bought?
Big Bud for starters. Some people claim to have actually caught fish with the thing. I never did though it was really a novelty item to begin with. Berkley Frenzy crankbaits. A couple different hard plastic slop type baits that didn't work worth a darn. For free - Evolution jigs. Using those is like cutting off the weedguards on all your other good jigs. Best bait? A littlle, clear/blue back, Rebel prop type bait sort of like a torpedo I got in a bargain bin at BPS years ago. I've caught a ton of fish on that thing.

Pistolgrip Casting Rod
IIRC, Allstar has a Team rod in a pistol. I have an old Bionic Blade, IM6 rod I've had for years. Love it.

Best casting rod under $125???
