buzzbaits again
Interesting idea to keep scum from building up on the front of the blade. Personally, I've used Lunker Lures over the years and a couple others. Properly tuned, a lunker lure can't be beat.

!?What do you all think of BPS reels?!
One other thing I've noticed about their reel repair dept., the phone reps handling the parts department are very knowledgable and helpful. 3 of the reels I got were missing the BPS logos'. The gal told me the emblems weren't available seperately but the guys would have to pull them off some side plates. She doubted they'd do it. Lo and behold, when my drag washers came another bag with 3 side emblems came. Thumbs up to them for that.

Shimano Calcutta 200 >>>>
They haven't changed the Calcutta's much because they didn't need changing. Fine reels.
-
Anyone use Shimano Calcutta ?
I've sold a bunch of Calcutta's. As far as round reels go, they are very, very nice and I'd have to think about fishing them if I was going to go back to rounds, especially the 100 series. The 50 series, 100 series would be perfect for bass fishing as would the 200 for larger baits and longer range casting. I think it's more a matter that round reels have just fallen out of favor with bass fishermen over the years.

lookin to get first boat
Test drive. Pay to have a pro look at the motor. $7500 seems on the high end for that outfit.

Regional websites for those "in the market'
Don't be afraid to travel to buy a boat. I've purchased my last two that way. Good buys can be found by searching the internet.

New (2005) boat I am seriously considering
Seat color actually matches the pin striping on the Etec. go for it.

livewell plumbing help
Most of the time it's best to install a oneway valve in the overflow line that doesn't allow lake water to re-enter into the system.

What the pros make
You would be correct. And with Nascar drawing on average a 4-5 in the ratings each week, all it takes is for DJ's car to be on the screen a few times in each race and Nascar has reached far more people than they could in one year of sponsoring a BASS pro and yes, I'm sure the demographics are pretty close between Nascar fans and BASS fishing fans. BTW, I don't care much for Nascar.

Tired of ice!
I'm not quite that close to retirement age but I've been doing tons of research on moving to another city further south within the next 4-5 years. Fortunately, my company has some divisions in other cities. Here's what I'm down to so far Nashville Columbia SC Daytona Beach FL Charlotte NC Still in the running Dallas Houston None of those towns experience ice and only Nashville really ever has anything close to cold weather. I move somewhere with nearby good fishing lakes and warmer year round weather close to the gulf coast where I can also head out for some beach relaxation and SW fishing.

A Question for the FLIPPING EXPERTS
I don't flip that often though I have a flippin rod for those special occasions. I pitch mostly.

!?What do you all think of BPS reels?!
I've replaced a bunch of reels this year, 5 to be exact, with BPS Pro Qualifier low profile reels. All are 8 bearing reels and they're used. We'll see how they hold up this year. Outwardly they operate quite nicely. As for whether to buy one if you've got $130 bucks to spend. I probably buy a single name brand reel like a Garcia, Pflueger or Shimano.

shocks?
I've never really seen where they were needed. I'd say if they were they'd be an option on more boat trailers but I've rarely seen anyone offering them.

These look super kool Low_Budget
Guess they need wheelie bars.

BPS Balancing Kit Question (s)?
Buy the cheaper balance kit they sell, I thinks it's around half the price of the XPS kit. They're basically the same thing. Both are rubber slip on butt caps with weights. The XPS kit has pretty gold colored weights of different sizes (which you can't see with the butt cap on) and the cheaper model just has regular lead weights.

These look super kool Low_Budget
If you notice the white one in the foreground, it's obvious they've really pushed the side sponson towards the front to help with stability.

Lowrance Fish Finders
Yes, I believe they have an optional switching box that allows you to do that.

Spike-it Dip-&-Glo
I usually use the Chartreuse with garlic. PHEW!!! Man, no need for a cover scent with that stuff on. BTW, that stuff is deadly if it gets on carpet.

Cabelas vs. BPS Rods
I've never used a Cabela's rod. If they construct them like the BPS rods I'm sure there's one in their lineup that's equivalent.

Gettin my first bass boat tomorrow!
Is that guy in the green shirt you or the guy that sold it to you?

Yum LPT
Someone was talking in another thread how he saw a fish in the tank at BPS take ahold of a powerbait worm and not let go. I can tell you from my experience that's exactly what happens. When a fish hits a powerbait worm they grab ahold REAL good.

well..........I DID IT
I'm sure in about 6 months we'll being seeing posts from you on "How do I get more speed out of my boat?" ;D Seriously, congradulations.
-
Just curious
I have two of them, an original Classic and a TAS wacky worm special I use for Senkos' and plan on adding two more. I'm replacing a C-rig rod in the future along with a 6 1/2 foot rod I have in the boat that is an all purpose rod. I'll probably start looking around for deals on used Platinum series rods. I like the rods. Nice at the price point.
-
rod
Yep. I've got a 6' med action Allstar Classic I use for jerkbaitin, a 6' med Crankin stick I use for short range cranks and a 6' mh Extreme I use for spinnerbaiting. I'm not real big on rods longer than 6 1/2 foot except for flippin or C-rigs.

what the heck did I just do???
Somehow I doubt that Johnny Morris will notice his wallet is .000000000000000000000000000000000000001" thinner.
