  1. Good catch Wayne. That trailer is way too short for that boat. Can't tell how far out the bunks extend but the rear end of that hull is probably hooked for sure given the way it's hanging off the end.
  2. I had a pair of Garmin 160's on my boat for a few years. When they were on together, they would eventually sync up and then lock up at least a couple times during the day. Operated alone they were fine. they had a ping rate adjustment but that merely delayed or hurried the failure. That might be the issue.
  3. I don't live bait fish for bass but I have no preference for how I catch my fish.
  4. Rates and coverages vary from state to state, Florida blue cross is higher than in most other states. The online quote is a starting point, once dialogue is established your background will be checked and at that point the rate may be adjusted upwards. My Mich.B/X rate is about half of what it would be in Florida for a similar plan (still not as good) but they will not write us due to pre existing condition. My wife had a stroke in 97 and presently takes heart and cholesterol medication and I have acid reflux (gerd) and they don't want me either. My last group rate for 2 people in Michigan about 6 years ago was $1140 per month, can't imagine what it would be now. I didn't know his health history of course. The fact that he's single with no kids is huge. IMO, this is where the ins. industry needs to be hit hard in order to fix it even before we start talking about universal, government paid for health care coverage. If you're in a health ins. plan, have something happen like an illness that turns out to be a long term issue you're screwed. You're literally locked into whatever coverage you have since most others won't take you if you want to switch or they have a grace period (for themselves) where they won't pay on a pre-existing condition for a year. Sorry, if you're a health insurance provider in this country and you want to do business the person with a pre-existing condition must be allowed access to health care with any insurance company AND his cost, while being more than normal insured, shouldn't exceed a percentage of the normal cost of those w/o a pre-existing condition.
  5. Given the boats age, I'd consider buying a steering cable kit that includes the helm as well.
  6. See what I mean..........and that only scratches the surface of the difference. Your best option is to see if your boss will get a better plan, but it will cost more. Not to get nosy but does your employer pick up the healthcare tab, a portion, or just make it available to you at your expense? Fair enough question this is the first year they have helped with paying basically $50 a month they contribute. Which isnt much but its a helpful contribution. They have the family plan which their premium is in the $875 area. Previous to this year they just made it so I could get my plan through them which was fine. When I first started getting Health Ins through them it wasn't that bad at $250/mo for better coverage. However 7yrs later and the way things are going the premiums increase and coverages decrease. I don't know how old you are. I guessed by looking at your picture to be 35. I went to BC/BS in Missouri where I live. I did a quick quote. Plan name - Blue Access 100 Monthly Premium - $217.33. Network Type - PPO Out of pocket maximum - 500/1,500 Coinsurance - 0 Office visits - $25 copay Prescriptions - generic and brand Mental health - Yes. That was a quick quote. You can cut your premium by raising your out of pocket deductable. Don't forget, places like Walgreens and Walmart along with others provide generic drugs over the counter at $5 or less every day without using prescription coverage.
  7. Been there a couple times as my sister-in-law is from Pitt. Pretty city as cities go. All I can say other than that is, there never was a Mawby's bar as was featured in the movie "Flash Dance" >
  8. The 1003LP was one of the last of Garcia's old style LP line of reels before the Revo's came out. Fairly decent reel. Graphite frame vs the Black or Silver max which are some sort of polycarbonite. I have used both the 1003 and a Silver max. As far as casting ease, the silver max wins hands down. The max series of reels are incredible casters and are very light. They have the feel of the Revo line of reels as they sit on the rod. Unfortunately, during a day of casting I found that the reels would make occasional grinding noises on retrieve, as though the gears didn't mesh up properly when re-engaging after a cast. While not a big deal, I'd worry about the long term durability of the reel. The 1003 had no such issues. It was a solid, albeit larger and heavier reel. For the money, the 1003 will probably outlast the Silver or Black max reels. If you're looking at keeping the reel for a while that's something to think about. If the reel is only to tide you over till finances allow you to move up to more expensive gear then try out a max series reel.
  9. I will take your word for it and not consider these brands when I purchase my bought next summer when I settle into my new home. Which brand would you recommended looking at? I'll put it another way. Direct experience with friends who have owned products made by Tracker marine (a Nitro Bass boat and a Tahoe deck boat) have made me realize that when you buy one of those brands you don't know what you're going to get. There are many happy Nitro and tracker owners, unfortunately there are also many unhappy ones as well. In fact, Tracker boats is the only manufacturer I know of that had a website devoted to customers unhappy with their tracker, Nitro, tahoe, etc boat. It would seem like some days the boats go down the assembly line and everything is OK. Other days and the end result is a night mare. To make matters worse, lots of boat companies have boats that have issues and problems that happen during assembly. Those boats are normally caught by QC and then sold as blems through their dealerships at greatly reduced prices, some are destroyed because the defects are such that their is safety issues. Tracker marine is the only boat manufacturer that I know of that will let a poor product not only go off the assembly line and onto the transport truck, but will also turn that poorly built boat over to the buyer as a new boat, without repairing even obvious defects let alone hidden ones. If you're looking for a fiberglass or aluminum rig, most any of the name brands right now are well built. Ride and decide which is best for you. BTW, if your heart is still set on a bass tracker boat or a Nitro I can't emphasis this more. Buy from an authorized Tracker/Nitro dealer NOT from BPS direct. BPS has no service department other than in Springfield Missouri. Anyplace else and you'll be stuck having to use 3rd party service. Those guys operate on their schedule, not yours or BPS's. When you buy from a authorized Nitro/Tracker dealer those guys have their own service and will handle your problems a whole lot faster than using BPS direct.
  10. If the issue was short bolts, I can only imagine that would mean the bolt never extended all the way through the nut which would mean the bolt would not be able to hold at it's typical rating and could cause it to shear or, the nut itself backed off.
  11. While it's just a john boat, it's indicative of Tracker marines history of boat building and that includes their Nitro line of bass boats. It's the reason why I'd never touch one. It's the structural stuff under the surface that you can't see that's as important as the fluff on the outside. I've seen and heard of too many problems due to poor design or shoddy workmanship to cause me to steer clear of anything with the name Tracker, Nitro or Tahoe on the boats side.
  12. Probably an old Bill Dance Special. Probably loaded with rotten wood too.
  13. Arrow glass has been out of the boat business for quite a few years. I have a feeling that boat is basically a fiberglass shell encasing a whole bunch of rotted wood. Would make good fish cover. This is from i-boats http://www.iboats.com/Arrow_Glass__Tarpon_5__1976/bp/61b4735r2
  14. You need to shop around and find your own health ins. Unless you have a pre-existing condition, I think you can easily beat $500 a month for an individual policy and get better coverage.
  15. Welcome to the world of Liberal exchange policies of tackle stores. Rather than finding out about a product before they buy it, some seem to make a irresponsible decision to buy on impulse and then try and find out if it's the right tackle for them. Including gathering the opinions of those on internet forums which are often biased.
  16. I owned a few STX's, I used a premiere for a day. That was back when they were still selling on the + side of $200. I saw no reason to own a premere. The only advantage was the weight and seriously, if 2 oz. is going to make a difference during the course of a day I'd suggest going to the gym and working out.
  17. Check your yellow pages under boats. Your larger dealerships will have a set diagnostic fee ($70-100) to put it in the tank and give you an estimate. I'd look for the guys that work on older ob's only and that aren't tied to a dealer. You'll get a little better labor rate and the upfront diagnostic fee isn't as much.
  18. It's possible the drag washers inside have become overly compressed over time. Contact Reel mech, he can probably get you the parts you need. Those old Vintage 5000 series reels were built like tanks and will probably outlast both you and me.
  19. You won't find a topo map per se. Rivers are fluid bodies whose bottom contours change continuously. You'll be able to find navigation maps at sites already listed but you won't find anything like a Fishing Hot spots map.
  20. Does it come in the Realtree Hardwoods pattern paintjob?
  21. Got me convinced. Zebco 33 > Shimano Curado E
  22. There's something fishy going on here. Benson was going to appear on-stage with Michael Jackson as a back-up singer in the now cancelled final British tour. Benson also listed Dr. Conrad Murray as his personal physician! Hmmm......
  23. After spending the money on the goodie bags, maps and the meal there wasn't much money left Leo. I understand Glenn's bringing in a few gals from Kentucky who'll dance for free food and liters of coke.
  24. The Zebco isnt' green. That's a good thing!
