Ive thrown a light a rig on a dobyns 735c (rated 1/4-1 1/2) It was a 3 wire rig rigged weightless. You should be fine.

I bought two kvd quantum crankbait rods for really cheap. They're 7ftm 1/4-3/8 and 7ft 9 1/4-38. I was throwing a 3/8th oz wiggle wart on the 7ftm rod w/ 12fluor and a revo winch. The bait kept running sideways and flipping over. It also wouldnt dig into the water and dive down. Is this rod just awful and too powerful or do I need to tune the bait ? The same kept happening with some strike king baits I was throwing.

Be aware if you find any of these reels for really cheap on ebay or craigslist. We had a 6 out of 15 reels "disappear" out of the damaged box while in UPS hands. The box was clearly ripped open and the rods that were also in the box were broken with only two 6 in rod tips left. The box could have been broken and the rods pulled out but that doesnt explain where 6 of the most expensive reels went. We will be in contact with lews tomorrow when they open to file a dispute with UPS. Not a rant against UPS just letting people know that we will be getting the serial numbers from lews and posting them so people know. UPS has damaged a good amount of our stuff before. Explains why dobyns ships all of their rods in pvc tubes. If you buy enough you are bound to find a few that work like they should. The new ones sound completely different though.

It may not be pre-rapala but people have been saying that the recent versions have been tweaked as well.

What are the best maps a person could buy for a lake? I normally get the hot spot maps but I am wondering if there is something better I could get. I want a hard copy because electronics break and I cannot physically hold an electronic copy on the boat.

Learned that the hard way. Tape fixes that problem a little bit.

I should have stated that I am banding jigs and not tying them. Tying seems nicer but banding is quicker on the water.

Just got into tying skirts so I can have backups not worried about saving money. Is there a formula for skirts colors? By this I mean to get a chart belly should I sandwich a chart tab between two colors or would it be top -black, middle blue, bottom chart etc. I can find it out through trial and error but why waste skirts if people have done it already

Numa are the way to go if you want indestructible and quality for a reasonable price. My costas would never stand up to what I put my numas through. Dont own a single rage tail bait. Im a Zoom, net bait, lake fork kind of guy. Have considered buying them but never pulled the trigger.

The noise problem was solved it was just my imagination and it needed a little oil. The thumb level is an entirely different story. No idea why it is so stiff. I may just use this as my arig reel because I got it for so cheap. Honestly paid under $100 for my gen 2 stx from past boss brand new. When that broke he upgraded it to a gen3 for free. If it breaks I dont feel so bad about it. Id rather get a new reel than service this stx. Ive really only had trouble with them. Theyre great when they work but they just seem to break.
