  1. Cant tell if you have them but every tackle box should have trick worms. Also shakey heads that stand up like the custom cast "the closer" shakey head, Gary Dobyns himself uses them.
  2. Here ya go. Its 7ft but i have this model (the old model) and its awesome http://www.tackleware house.com/Fenwick/catpage-FENWICK.html
  3. It should be fine. I would pop it open and make sure there isnt any water inside. Take a q tip and clean it out, then re-oil and grease everything. Ive dunked reels before and done nothing about it and theyre perfectly fine.
  4. There are better rods in the 100-200 range but I use my 7ftmh mojo bass spinnerbait model more than any other rod I own( except my dobyns rods) . Its an all around great rod and can do anything you want it to. Put the 6:4 on the carbon lite rod and the 7:1 on the mojo. Also the 7ftmh fenwick aetos is a beast of a rod.
  5. It depends on the lb test. At lower lb tests up to 12lb I like berkley 100% fluorocarbon. Above that I like using seaguar invisx ( honestly ill use all sizes of invisx but I get berkley really cheap) You could put on 30lb braid and then use a 10-12lb fluorocarbon leader if you decide to throw crankbaits. It really depends on what you want to do. I say put on 12lb fluorocarbon of your choice and call it a day.
  6. Mine was awful. Bucoo rods still $99 ( not worth it even at that price) $5 shad raps/ red eye shads. Nothing good.
  7. Surprised only one person mentioned tungsten weights. Ive heard a few pros mention that they peg their bullet weights when fishing heavy cover like wood ( not just when punching)
  8. Do you guys match diameter or lb test when using braid backing? Ive got a bunch of 65lb and 50lb braid left with less than 100yds on it and I want to use it for backing. I was wondering if I could go smaller with the braid. For instanced a 15lb fluoroleader with a 20,25,or 30lb braid backing. Also I am not talking about a 10ft leader I mean at least 150ft.
  9. Bingo. Fishing on KY lake you know that it can catch the fire out of the fish when its on.
  10. Debatable. I've seen it catch fish after fish and also double up fish as well. They key to fishing it is understanding its place in the water column and your arsenal.
  11. Clinton has ice until the main bridge but the hot arm opens up in a month. Buddy gets his new stratos tomorrow. Cant wait to fish.
  12. Before you spool it up open it up and clean up the extra grease. Those things have a pound of grease in them. I just spent an hour cleaning mine.
  13. Here is my 2 cents. First off I am a collegiate angler with decent experience and am not the best guy out there. But I have done a ton more research on gear than most other guys just so I can have that edge on them. Check this video out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpvJsqtnszg Paul Mueller uses the right rod for the right application. Sure I can use my 7 ft 9 heavy XF action for 6xd and deep divers but it is not the same as a dobyns 805c or even an 806c for the 10xd. The reason is because the blank is different and it has a moderate fast tip. When a rod is designed as a crankbait rod it is going to be a different power than a flipping stick. If you want to throw crankbaits on your flipping stick go ahead. You will just be shallower in the water column. That is fine by me because if we are competing and your 6xd only hits 16ft and mine hits 20ft+ I will take that advantage all day. No need to defend yourself or anything. 90% of the guys on here are very open and willing to help out. Also take their advice, they've got years of experience on us. With you last reply physics is not working in your favor. The same idea that a stiff rod wants to return to its original shape also works against you because it means that the same rod requires more effort to bend it. The idea of a parabolic bend is that it flexes enough to cast and also set the hook. PM if you have any questions or just want to talk fishing.
  14. Good point here. IMO a megabass is a megabass. You have to tune a knockoff to sit the same way. You also have to change the hooks to get a similar hook up ratio. Megabass trebles are turned outward.
  15. Got myself a bb1pro so I should be set.
  16. They honestly catch fish. I dont have a ton of jerkbaits so I would get 2 spro over one megabass to get more bang for my buck.
  17. Local rod builder said he fixes more duckett rods than anything else. They just fall apart.
  18. Walmart is ok but most things are 40cents off. Dicks is doing like 40% off most things.
  19. Someone needs to help this guy out. I have college tournaments around the same time so I cannot attend or else we would probably go together. Im going to try and meet up with him over summer to catch some pigs in Northern IL / Wisconsin. I
  20. After calling dobyns I am going to stick with the 765cb glass. I dont know why I buy any other rods than dobyns. Every time I call them they help me out immensely and are a wealth of knowledge.
  21. My buddy loves it for traps.
  22. Gen 3 revos dont last that long. The internal components arent that great because they wanted to cut down on weight.
  23. buckeye jwill heads are what you want to use. If I had a bps gift card I would spend the money on them.
  24. what is the lightest bait you use on it? I know it says 1/4oz but would it handle a squarebill that size or even a wiggle wart?
  25. Im 85% sure that I am going to get this rod. I just need to know why I would get the glass over the regular 765cb? I throw mainly sk 5xd/6xd and spro dd baits.
