Everything that seems to be going through your Mind sounds good. EXCEPT the skunking thing. Don’t worry about that or think about it. Go fish hard and have fun while doing it. It happens and sometimes you can learn from it. Later your mind will do a Could-a, should-a or would-a and possibly next time you could try those things that went through your head. You’ve been fishing a long. Don’t underestimate yourself. Give them a look at something you have not thrown in awhile but have complete confidence in. During a tuff bite that may pull something off.

Live Bait?

I’m not new to tube fishing been doing it a long time. I’ve been trying to pick up different rigging styles and am finding stuff on you tube. Smaller tubes and rigging them is pretty simple. Someone like BPS has everything. I’ve been fishing the larger magnum tubes more often on the lake for Greenies. More of a pitching or punching them approach. Has been working some on inactive fish. There should be some decent info from Case, Strike King and BPS out there.

Was sad to hear yesterday. One of my favorite bands of all times, got to see them a few times. Played Stones tunes all afternoon. Generally do that when these musicians pass. 80 years old. 80 year young. RIP man.

I’m waiting for the river to calm down and clear up some. I’ll be right back there at it again. I’m gonna fish hard as heck and anticipate Smallies will be biting. Will lake fish a time or two until it gets back to a somewhat normal state on the river. Keep at it, fish hard.

I don’t want to dis the fish and boat commission because they clearly must be going through something. Covid and staff related, I don’t know. I don’t even see how Covid has anything to do with that part of state agencies. Essential or non essential. Part of law enforcement and think it would be essential. Never gave much thought to surplus of license sold. My mind works the opposite, what about all that are fishing without a license. You don’t have to display your license anymore in PA. In my twisted way of thinking most don’t even have a license. I still keep mine visible (hat) to keep from possible interaction. My activities are legal don’t waste your time with me go do something more productive. Last season they didn’t want any help to stock trout pre season or in season. Bit of a bummer. Have been helping with that since I was a young guy. But I can see with Covid at a high rate then why subject people. This season I did a lot of stocking. It may have been some of the biggest stockings I’ve ever seen. Maybe like a lot of businesses as of lately they took a big hit and have to rebuild some. I seriously wish them a lot of luck. They have to get better.

I’m a SC long time fanboy. I love my Premiere Rods (some I’ve had long time), but I have say the Avid Rods I fish are a real pleasure. I love them. The Victory, I could see myself possibly owning/fishing one but they are not in my area yet. Need to touch some. Maybe they will get in in the fall or winter. Don’t want to buy one untouched. You won’t go wrong buying the Victory. Go that route, post your opinion on it. I’d like to hear what you think. Good luck with the Vanford. Have not pulled the trigger yet on that.

Ramps I put in at on the river are only 15, 25 and 40 minutes rides from the house. Bout 35 minutes to the lake ramp I want to use. It’s kind of easy to be a homebody. But I do like a road trip a few times a year. When I’m down in MD there are snakeheads in these bass fishing areas but I have yet to ever catch one. Can’t say I’ve even saw one caught or laying dead. I don’t hear much talk these day of them. Would like to catch one and kill it if that is still required.

Lake is not too far from me. We might be in each others backyards. I don’t fish there on weekends and don’t put in at the two main launches. I refused to get frustrated also. The last couple of seasons it seems like the state waterway guys have been nonexistent. Maybe Covid related? Short on help? Just not interested? Most likely the latter. In PA I think we are going to see things get a lot worse before it gets better. Stocked trout is their gig here. Half decent Musky program.

I have to give it to him for using the river to get from point “a” to point “b”. Naked and drunk on the river has to be less points than naked and drunk behind the wheel of the ole GMC on route 13.

I think the jerkbait is a great bait and producer. Admittedly I’m not worth a darn at fishing it. My best results are from fishing it more like a crankbait.

It’s funny and all but that guy is lucky. May have been drunk during it all. Submerged branch could have caught his leg and would have drowned immediately.

We got hammered with some rain in the mid Atlantic. But I know I’m lucky and fortunate than some of you guys in Tennessee, NC and New England. Rivers are angry and mean here right now. Hope it all pulls together for you. Let the rivers get back to normal. Stay safe. Those bass will be there.

The river is mean and angry right now. Will settle out in a bit. Sometimes things get good after a decent size rain. Will be structure changes somewhere along it for sure. We had gotten a big shot of rain in my area. Fortunately not a lot of local flooding. Some of you guys got hammered in through Tennessee and New England hope everything goes ok for you and you were safe. Stay safe and let the rivers get back to normal.

Grub, tube and craw fishing is pretty much the same concept? The overall idea has been around for years? Z Man baits revolve around the NED concept? I don’t know. Can’t say I’ve jumped in with both feet because I don’t see really what is significantly different then grub fishing or putting a cut Senko on a jig head. Standup jig heads have been around forever. I believe that is how it started. Some guy started using pieces of broken worm and Senkos on various jig heads. Called it that. Z Man made a product line of soft plastics that were more durable. All looks to have been a great idea and a lot of guys fish it.

For sure. I have my share of older obsolete worm, tubes and craws. In original bags for the most part or in a heavier zip-loc. I’ll throw them now and again. Shame they can’t be had anymore. But anyway I have some that have to be 20+ years. Ex. Guido bugs, Mr. T Silk Worms, Razor Worms. Still work but can’t get.

I’m not short on colors of them. Have a good selection in the various sizes. And I’m not sure if color really means anything anyway. But I could give myself a good butt kicking for never picking up what Rebel calls Softshell Craw. Pretty accurate to color of them in smaller trout streams I fish here. Light grey with a slighter darker bottom. These may just be younger craws. IDK. In bigger rivers the darker greens and darker back version all seem to produce. I don’t throw the smaller UL version anymore. I spent my whole life fishing smaller baits because that’s what I thought I had to do. I throw the bigger versions today, a 3/8 oz. or 7/16 oz. will catch an 8 incher or 20 incher just as well.

Was trying to be optimistic on river condition for the weekend but these two hurricane/depressions are gonna put the kibash to fishing the river this weekend. I know a few of you guys on here get slammed with these a lot worse than me and suffer far greater losses than I. No comparisons. Be safe, stay safe.

I still throw them. Not all day long or every time out but I’ve never put those away for good. River Smallie fishing they are just one of the must haves that produce. Maybe 40 years of fishing it.
