60,70,80 -0 BBall press?
I wonder if there is more to the story than we know? Coaches may not like each other; the losing school destroyed the winning school in a past game and this was payback; someone said something that should have not been said. When I officiated high school basketball I called the first half close to get control and then let it a little loose in the final two quarters, with eyes open and whistle ready for the final two minutes if the game was close. I also spoke with the players, warning them about things they were doing or things they did well. The players appreciated my input and I got control of the game from a psychological perspective. And a stern look to the coach, bench and players also produced positive results. Especially if you stand after you blow the whistle and stare at them. I agree with the above posts. Even Burley's!!!! Just food for thought.

Northern Virginia Law Enforcement Bass Club
Nitro, great idea. Are you going to affiliate with either B.A.S.S. or TBF? There are dues to be paid if you affiliate but you all can fish their region tournaments and your members would have the opportunity to advance to the state and national tournaments. We have two state troopers in our club and they are super guys. It would be wonderful to have more law enforcement officers fishing and at the ramps just in case situations get out of hand. Good luck with your efforts.

Weedless Wacky rigging?
I always use a weedless hook on my Senkos and plastics, especially the Wacky Rig as I throw them all over the place. Have never had a hook-up problem and I throw the Senkos into cover and structure all the time. Now, you can still get hung up and have to cut your line. But it is worth knowing that I have a better chance to catch a bass in the trees and rocks, etc. with the weedless hook setup than not going weedless.

Anyone tried the Coffee Scented Tubes from Strike King.
At the Richmond Fishing Expo, Kevin VanDam told us the story of how Strike King decided to use the coffee scent. You guys who were there please correct if I am incorrect on some of the story as I remember it. Kevin said that while the guys were trying new baits someone threw coffee, or coffee grounds, into the water and the minnows just congregated on the coffee. So they threw coffee in the water a second time to see what would happen and once again the minnows went nuts. The research guys went to work and created a line of coffee scented baits. I have purchased the OCHO Watermelonseed 8-pack and the OCHO Okeechobee Craw 8-pack in the coffee scent at Green Top and can't wait to give them a try. You guys go out and get some and try your luck and we can report back on how they work this fishing season.

Presciption Polarized Fishing glasses?
SoCalRob, May I add my two cents to your query? Prescription polarized sunglasses are expensive. So I use Cocoons. You can get grey and amber colors and just clip them onto your glasses for a lot less money than prescription glasses. And you can change colors as necessary. So please consider the Cocoons, or other polarized clip-on sunglasses. Remember to put the strap on your glasses when fishing so they do not slip off your head and go "plop" in the water.

Fishing jerks
Never had a problem. I just make sure I am not in the other guy's "zone" and give him enough room. I also speak with everyone either when I arrive or during the time I am on the bank. Letting the other guy you are not going to intrude eliminates 99% of the problem.

Burger King cologne? LOL! A new low for America....
Matt, I was in my banker's office after lunch in December, just chewing the fat before the holidays, and I told her that I liked her perfume. In fact, I said it smells really good. She told me that she and a client had gone to Five-Guys for hamburgers for lunch and I was smelling the hamburgers, not her perfume. I told her, and my wife that evening, that I loved the smell and we need to bottle it and market the product. Then, a few days later, Burger King introduces its hamburger scent. So don't downplay the hamburger cologne or perfume. It really smelled great!!! ;D ;D ;D

Super Bowl Trivia Story
KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register four. Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love. Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card and punched out, then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only to see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted. When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work. She simply said it wasn't possible. He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter. Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night he arrived at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, let's take the kids with us." She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet her children. She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis thought, then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair. He was born a paraplegic with Down Syndrome. Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't come with us?" Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away from a woman with two kids, especially if one had disabilities - just like her first husband and father of her children had done. Kurtis was not ordinary - - - he had a different mindset. That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the movies. When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him. When he needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him and brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with. A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children. Since then they have added two more kids. So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy and Brenda the check-out girl? Well, Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona , where he is currently employed as the quarterback of the National Football League Arizona Cardinals and has his Cardinals in the Super Bowl. Is this a surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person? It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. He has also been the NLF's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player. Just passing this along. It was sent to me and I sincerely hope it is correct.

sorry
Come on Sean, get with the program. At least that is what I was told in the Army. This time of the year is a great time to read, watch videos and DVDs. Read the articles on this site; visit the pros' web sites and see what they say; go to the advertisers and look up their articles; go out and get copies of Bassin' and Bassmaster Magazine; or go to the library and see what bass fishing books are available. And have you organized your tackle? Cleaned your rods and reels? Studied maps of the bodies of waters you fish? Try to find blogs on those bodies of water? Contact the guys on this site about any subjects you wish to gain more knowledge? Study new techniques or bait applications? Go outside and practice your casting, flipping and pitching (drives neighbors nuts)? Visit your local tackle shops and talk to the guys about where they fish, their rods and reels, and their favorite baits. There are so many things you can do while waiting for the fishing season to begin to help you become a better fisherman. This is the "Learning Season" for us bass fishermen. In fact, I am looking forward to a big snow storm in Richmond so I will have an excuse to stay home all day and read and watch videos and search the net on a number of topics. So don't be sorry. Be proactive. We all expect to see your personal best picture on this site this coming fishing season.

PB&J
Try to match the crawfish colors for each season. PB&J is always a good choice. Other colors matching the crawfish can be better.

Grin and Bear It
Mrs. O'Brien arrived in Boston from Ireland and in no time at all her bean soup made her the talk of New England society. At a party celebrating the sale of her recipe to a fancy restaurant, an old matron went up to Mrs. O'Brien and said, "My dear girl, please tell me: What is the secret of your soup?" "The secret to my soup is that I use but 239 beans to make it," said Mrs. O'Brien. "Why only 239?" asked the matron. "Because one more would make it too farty."

Bass do learn!!! they are smarter then you think Read this
This is what I read about goldfish: Myth: Goldfish only have a memory span of a few seconds. Fact: A recent study from Plymouth University in which goldfish were forced to press a lever for food showed that they not only have memory spans of up to three months, but they also have built-in biological clocks that allow them to line up for food each day just before feeding time. Conclusion" Fish are smarter than we think.

Place to stay near Buggs Island?
Your best bet is to contact the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce, 800.557.5582, for information about lodging in Clarksville. There are lots of places to stay in South Hill but you want to be close to Clarksville as Clarksville is close to the Occoneechee State Park. There is a Best Western across from the Lake Motel so check out that motel, too. Don't forget to stop by Bobcat's Lake Country tackle shop on Route 15 south of Clarksville. It is worth the trip. Ask if they have any special runs for Kerr. And contact GMCO maps for a map of Kerr Reservoir if you do not have one. Have fun and be safe.

Fishing Expos
When yo go to the web site that hosts the Richmond Fishing Expo, there is a list of other shows the company is producing. I know of a big show in Timominum, Maryland but I have never attended it. You may want to try to locate that info on the internet, too. Bass Pro Shops have seminars so check out their web site for Richmond. I have seen Woo Daves a number of times. It is very interesting to visit with the different vendors and to see the new products on the market and to listen to the seminars.

Casting Accuracy Spin VS Baitcst
Shorter the rod the more accurate the cast. And that's that.
