Skeeter to B.A.S.S. and Derek Remitz
I thought it was this classic. Let's see what happens and if Skeeter is shown as the Classic boat sponsor during the Saturday morning TV show.

Where's The Bass Pro Classic Sales Paper?
Yes, and I was dissappointed. The schedule for the various pros is in the flyer but the items on sale did not get me too excited. I threw it away, keeping the center section with the info on the pros seminars just in case I can make it on a weekend, which is extremely difficult for me. There may be other unadvertised sales items at the stores so check it out and let us know.

JJ's Magic
Burley is right. JJ's is strong. I use it and put it on the plastic right before I throw it. I also keep it in the cooler in hot weather. Get some on your hands and feel the tingle. Keep it stored is a safe continer as it has a powerful smell.

Nice having you with us from the the state to have a representative in the most, if not all, Bassmaster Classics. Great state to fish for bass and the people are very friendly. Only problem is that on occassion, they yell "Seweeee" for no apparant reason. Welcome aboard.

Great you are with us. Throw larger baits to catch bigger fish. You will not catch a lot but they will be bigger.

Baitcast Combo?
Check out the catalogs on-line and read about the different reel options. Yes, the more ball bearings the smoother the reel, but what do you want for a $60 combo. Be glad you can get a real combo and not be stuck with a Zebco.

Bed fishing--
I read an article that bed fishing is not that damaging to the bass population. My club fishes when the bass are on their beds and so do I when I go by myself or with others. I practice catch and release so the males get to go back to their bed with a sore mouth and they probably will not be caught again until the hatchlings start hatching out. As for the females, we put them back, too, and I know they can find another place to spawn in the lake or river. You may want to Google this topic and see what you can find.

Some fat bronzebacks
YOU MEAN YOU DID NOT GO TO THE LIBRARY AND STUDY? The game gets cancelled and you go fishing and not to the library with the rest of the team and coaches to study? BP48, glad to hear you have your priorities straight. ;D Good job. Pony Pasture may be waking up after this cold spell ends.

total eclipse tonight
Hey John J, Put on some wierd music; light up the lava lamp; and turn on the computer with the astronomy program and you can psych yourself out. Call the EMT's - John J has gone kook-koo on us!!!!!! Just kidding. I got a A in astronomy at LSU. Love the course. A little German Ph.D. taught it and me and my friends had a good time in the course. We still talk about it today and my best friend's wife even remembers his name - Dr. Grenshick. He had a white beard and wore glasses and looked the part of a mad scientiest. But he was a nice guy.

Baitcast Combo?
Bass Pro Shop's sale is on the way. Check out their combos when you get your flyer. Also, check out the combos in the catalogs to get ideas. Anything Shimano is good.

best beginner fluerocarbon..for casting
Vanish Transition by Berkley. On a spinning reel go with the 6 or 8 pound test. When spooling it onto the reel be sure to run it through a wet spot on a wash cloth soaked with silicone or Kevin VanDam's Line and Lure Conditioner to remove the powder and to make the line very supple and limp. I suggest KVD's product, even though it is expensive, but silicone works, too. Do not over spool the line on the reel. You may want to use a baitcaster for your heavier lines of 10+ test or jig fishing. Let us know how you do.

Hooks in depth
Worms - Straight Shank Lizards - EWG Creature - EWG Tubes - Various Straight shanks help stop line twists. Keep it simple. Don't get all hung up in hooks. Find the ones you like and stick with them.

Are there any online tackle dealer websites??
Hey Roostertails, As the post suggest, and to answer your query, "yes" there are tackle shops all over the internet, including Cabella's, Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mountain, Peckers, etc. Just Google fishing tackle and see what comes up. I order from Cabella's and BPS and have never had a problem. In fact, your post reminds me that I want to order some Yo-Zuri Hybird Ultra Soft and a GY Flapping Hog that I can't seem to find at the local tackle shops or the BPS in Hampton. And try *** on this site plus Megastrike and the other advertisers. Great guys with great deals. Be sure to let them know you are a member of this site. The Bait Monkey is waiting for you so get started!!!! ;D

Best set-up for heavy cover?
NOT Carolina rigged for heavy cover. The sinker will get caught up in the cover and drive you crazy. Texas rigged with a pegged bullet sinker fished weedless. You want to be able to drop your bait in the openings and have it go straight down to the bottom where you flick it a few times and then recast if you do not get bit. A drop shot could work depending on the cover. But remember, your drop shot hook is exposed so you will have to use a weedless 1/0 hook or secure the hook inside the plastic. Goal is to drop bait into cover where bass are resting to get a reaction strike. If the bass are hungery, then fish the edge of the cover with your same cover rig or the topwaters or spinnerbaits or buzzbaits or even crankbaits (if possible) and Rat-L-Traps and Rapalas, etc. that you like. Just be ready to remove the slop off your bait and have some fun. And wash your hands before you eat your lunch.

X-Rap Shad!!
Been around for some time. Good on lakes this time of year. If you read any articles about fishing now the writer will probably suggest using one or the other. Fish so they look like an injured baitfish.

Dicks sporting goods.
Andrew, I don't think so. They have a very limited selection, at best, and their prices are not that great. I would rather order on-line or via a catalog than going to a Dick's store.

Thank You!!
Thanks. Really appreciate all you do.

I WAS LIVING IN HEAVEN AND NEVER REALIZED IT
I thought heaven was West Virginia! Muddy, I know how you feel. When I venture back to New Orleans I get the feeling that I want to retire there. Then I think of how the place has changed in all these years and that I am better off where I am. But it is great to visit and enjoy all the great food and see friends and lots and lots of LSU bumper stickers and decals on the cars and trucks.

total eclipse tonight
Yes, and we are having overcast skis and a chance of rain in Richmond. Bummer.

Best set-up for heavy cover?
7 foot heavy action rod. Some may suggest a fast tip on rod. Strong baitcaster that can handle the loads. 65 pound braid line. Fish jig or plastic weedless Texas Style. Fish frogs and trickworms over cover and along edge of cover, if possible. Read what others suggest and go and get 'em.
