  1. Nope, Not only have I never heard of them but I did not see them advertiesed in any bass magazine. So, go to KVD's web site and see if he has posted anything about them and let us know. Thanks.

Wow! That is a beautiful bass. Keep sending those pics for us to enjoy.
  3. Hey Brass Brat - Seems some players get goodies in the form of money or gifts to their parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents, etc. LSU refused to give anything to Perry-Lou's mo (or anyone else) so the rumor in Louisiana is that LSU did not pay her enough for this coming season to keep her son on the team. Of course, no college team pays anyone to play for them, so it is a tounge in cheek joke. Maybe.

Saw it this fall but have not tried. Looks promising. Let us know when you try it and I will do the same.
  5. Nope. I fan the weedguard strans to open them up but I have never heard of making a "V" out of them. New one on me. I hope someone out there has an answer and why this is done.
  6. I will be pullling for Ike. But I don't expect him to win. I really don't care who wins just as long as it is an entertaining event. I guess the pros' nerves are starting to get restless.
  7. Hey Zach, Glad you are with us. Great bunch of guys. Just ask your questions and wait for all of the different advice. And post some pics of those big bass you guys catch in California, too.
  8. Yes, we expected the news earlier than today. Perry-Lou cleaned out his locker and left school last week. You NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER clean out your locker. The rumor is that his mother is upset that LSU is not paying her enough. In fact, LSU refuses to pay her anything. So she is making a rukus about him staying at LSU. Perry-Lou is a wonderful talent and would lead the Fighting Tigers back to the SEC Championship game and a shot at a BCS bowl this year. But you have to have a positive and team attitude to play college sports. LSU has other QBs that can step in and do a fantastic job. Got to hand it to Miles, he reloaded at the QB position so LSU is ready for Appy State, with our without the problem child, Perry-Lou. Do what is good for the team, Miles, not any one player. Geaux Tigers.
  9. I will NEVER purchase a reel with any type of switch, be it flippin or bail or swimmin or runnin or jumpin, etc. anymore. Never, never, never. In fact, I plan to replace the ones I have this year or next year. Can't stand them. Worthless IMHO.
  10. You use your thumb to control the spool and line. When I do it, I try to stop or slow down the spool when the bait first hits the water or else you will get a backlash. Remember to "whipcrack" the rod with your wrist to get the bait to skip off the water once, twice or three times and to fall very gently into the water. It takes a lot of practice so go to a pond or swimming pool and practice with a jig and pig or Texas-rigged Senko or finesse worm. And place a piece of Scotch Tape over your spool so that any backlashes will go only to the Scotch Tape. You do this by casting as far as you want to go and then pulling about another 20 or 30 feet of line off the spool. Place the Scotch Tape over the spool. It takes practice and you have to avoid the urge to fish while you are practicing. We go to the pond or lake or river with good intentions of practicing and then we are overcome by this very strong power that says, "Fish, fish, fish, fish. Practice is silly. Fish, fish, fish." Be a strong UNC Tarheel and overcome the urge to fish and just practice.
  11. And P.S. Is that a catfish you are holding in your avatar? A catfish? Certainly you can do better than a catfish as you live in beautiful North Carolina.
  12. NC Thompson, Nope, do not know of any free video other than Googling Flipping & Pitching and seeing if any of the pro's sites have a free video you can watch. Check out the "King of Pitching and Flipping", Denny Brauer's web site and he may have something. Denny knows all about flipping and pitching. You do not have to read to flip and pitch. All you have to do is to look at the pictures. In fact, an illerate can learn to flip and pitch, like a NC State guy or a Duke or Wake or UVA or Clemson or FSU or Miami guy. UNC guys like to read and write so you should not have any problems ;D

RoLo hit the nail on the head. I think the bait is the most important. You can go with the football heads, the round heads; the heads with eyes; etc. Just make sure the bait stands up. I wil take the shaky head jig and put the bait on it and then put it in the bathtub to see how it stands up. Pretty cool. Give it a shot and then decide which ones you want to use.
  14. If you are looking for something specific then you may not be that excited about the sale. They will have their own BPS brands on sale plus Zoom and some of the other big name manufacturers. But you have to know what you want and check out if it is on sale. Be sure to know the model numbers as there are a lot of rods and reels out there that are made by the same company but are not the same. I got a two great BPS tee shirts for $5 each last year at thier sale.
  15. It's all bad and wrong. The Bait Monkey is working hard to get the economy going so you need five new Shimano CORE reels; three Shimano Stradic MgFB spinning reels; five new G. Loomis baitcasting rods for five different presenations; five new G. Loomis spinning rods for the Stradic's; lots and lots of the new Trileen Extra MAXX line in tests of 4, 6, 8,10, 12, 14 and 17; lots of tungston weights; and all the Eagle Claw, Gamakatsu and Owner hooks you can stuff in your tackle box and pockets. Actually, what you have is very good and it should give you many hours of fun fishing. I was just thinking about jump-starting the economy and making the Bait Monkey happy. ;D

ESR1, Search this site for more Guntersville info. Type in Guntersville in the upper right hand corner adjacent to the magnifying glass. Ask your questions in the geographical areas for fishing locations on this site. too, including Guntersville. Check out the web for other posts about the lake. And have a blast. Be sure to send us pictures. And welcome to the site.

    Oldie but goodie.
  18. Sounds like a great plan but I have to see a client in Norfolk and then stop the Hampton BPS shop on the way back to Richmond. Car can't go by the BPS store without stopping.
  19. Maybe, we will see. April is still a busy time for me but who knows??? Sam
  20. There are probably two tournament trails in New Jersey. The first is for bass. The second is for dead bodies. (Sorry. Just could not help myself.)
  21. Heard an interview with a tractor-trailer driver on the radio who said he was at least two miles from the blast and it rocked his rig. Or was he five miles from the blast? I was not paying attention to the news so I missed where the expolosion took place but this must be the one. And you guys are right...there goes another increase in gas prices just a fishing season starts. :'(
  22. Yes, it is a beautiful day, today. And I am sick with bronchitis and an upset stomach from the meds. Later today the cold front is moving in and the temps will drop into the 30s tonight. Glad at least you and your dad and the cat had a nice time and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Sorry you did not catch anything. Maybe you and your dad need to re-read those "fishing from the bank" posts!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  23. I have the Berkley, too, and it is sufficient. I have been looking for the line-winding machine but cannot find it again since BPS removed it from their catalog. So thanks for the info. I will check it out.
  24. If you have a bonifide business with a Charter and By-Laws and are selling retail you need your Federal Identification Number which is easy to obtain via the IRS. Your state will want to collect their taxes, too, so you need to contract your state's Department of Taxation and they will tell you what to do. These individuals are usually very nice and helpful so give them a call. If you incorporate as an "S" corporation you need to have an attorney draw up your legal documents and then have a CPA take care of your taxes, etc. I also suggest setting up a "Tax Excrow Account" to put money to pay your taxes as this is the cause of so many small businesses failing. And remember the battle cry of all small business..."Don't Screw Around with the IRS."
  25. Basspaddler. That is sad. It equates with her getting her drivers license. When she starts wearing make up and high heel shoes. The first night she stays out with her boyfriend all night. When she graduates from high school. When she graduates from college. When she gets engaged. When she gets married. It is a major passage in a women's life to get a new, better fishing rig, right up there with all the other things they go through.
