  1. I think its great can't wait to see it
  2. Someone who's trying to have a conversation while I'm fishing.
  3. One of mine actually happend today. While it wasn't a big fish such as some in previous stories he did weigh I would say 4 pounds. I was fishing with a Lipless crank and as usual rod loaded up so I apply pressure to the rod a little more and proceed to reel him in get him closer to the bank and he manages to get into some vegitation and bury himself in it. I manage to get him out of the vegitation and up to where I can grab him. My hand was about a foot away from the fish when after all the fighting to get away it had done and not spit the hooks it manages to do so with just a little shake of its head and my bait flys back toward me. While I dodge the flying bait it manages to get away from me. No big deal atleast I got him that far. The other day I had one while C rigging throw the bait after it jumped the second time. It was a good one I normally don't get uspset about losing a fish but after that I just didn't want to fish the rest of the day I'm sure it would have been my PB for this year
  4. I was wondering the same too but didn't want to ask thinking if they had smallmouth I would have heard about them already. You are correct with all the focus on largemouth it over shadows the smallies
  5. I have obviously heard about the largemouth in Cali but have never heard of any smallmouth there. Are there any
  6. I hope when the next one is caught that whoever catches it covers all the bases and gives us a fish that it undoubtfuly the world record fish, without any controversy
  7. I have been catching some with bloody tails as well I'm going out agin this evening and will post pics if I catch any. I really couldn't imagine they are spawning agin as I have caught several with bloody tails lately.
  8. I'm on a roll, this tme of year is my most productive for me. Send it my way I will have plenty of pics and mojo to add to it
  9. I don't really know for sure but I would have to say yes myself. Given that Gar can grow to pretty good size and some bass if being the right size would probally make a good meal, I could see why they would be spooked by them.
  10. Seems like I have read that on this site somewhere before. I can't put my finger on it :-?
  11. I use Gycb as well and like them very much hard to beat. But with that I have other brands that I use too so really I don't have a stance on this topic for each brand I have used has been a good producer. For me and this sounds stupid I like trying different baits all the time it's a hobby I guess I always look for something I haven't ever tried weather it be a different technique or bait or a bait that works good for me but just trying different companys version of the same bait.
  12. This site has taught me more than any Tv Show about fishing even thought of. I have definatly become better due to this site and hope to become even better in the future with the Knowledge of the great members here and the staff that run it. I have even been able to pass on tips to some pro anglers that I learn from here and have them thinking I was some kind of pro (obviously I'm not) but it was nice to be able to share the info with them and actually see them very interested in it and asking more. We all are succesful through each other I beleve and BassResource.com has made us truly better sportsmen in pursuit of our passion Thanks to all who made and make it possable
  13. Thanks guys that helps me alot
  14. This one lake I fish has had a bad outbreak of duckweed this year. I had heard that it will depleat the O2 in the water and eventually kill of the fish. I as well heard that a good rain will make it go away. It has been dry here and it really wasn't a problem until it got dry. Anybody have any answers as to what really causes duckweed and if its true it will kill off fish.
  15. For me Fall is topwater time I have great success using topwater baits during the fall. As well I absoulutly burned them up last fall on lipless crankbaits. Color wise I was using minnow imatating baits. The bite for me last fall didn't really slow down untill about the last week in Nov. I have been fishing the Crig almost too much this year and plan on using it throughout the fall as this will be new territory to me I have never used a C rig in the fall. I am focusing on catching more qaulity this fall more than numbers. Something I have used once or twice in the past and going to try more this fall is C rigging a Lc suspending pointer and some Rouges. Its not a new technique but one I feel that is overlooked even by myself. I will probally use more swimbaits this fall as well
  16. I would work the edges of the any vegitation I could find. Try the C rig Shallow it works for me. Seeing how there is timber there I would try a wacky rigged senko or a Fat Ika rigged skirt up they are bound to be a few suspending there I would say with the sun out and hot, there going to be stacked up on any kind of cover.
  17. One of the big things for me is haveing to explain why I paid what I did for fishing equipment or tackle. It touches a nerve when someone says its stupid to pay that much for a fishing reel or rod when you can buy a good one at Wal-mart. No offense to anyone who does buy there stuff at Wal-mart cause I have been there and done that. But I enjoy my higher end equipment and yes I think it makes me better. You couldn't give me a cheap rod or reel. I Plan on buying a Chronarch next weekend my way of combating the how much was that issue is to just tell em Walmart's got them for $40 thats where I got mine. Or better yet if you have to ask you wouldn't understand. One other is non sportsman while I have the most confadence that 99% of the people here pick up there trash there are the rest of the none serious fisherman who will leave there mess behind for others. I have found if your a true sportsman you respect the outdoors and wouldn't dare leave behind trash.
  18. It's funny you mention this. I used to not fish plastics that much at all because I thought it was just too painfully slow but after using the C rig alot this summer I have trained myself to go slow as possable and have done alot of deadsticking had really good succes with catching larger fish. It's definatly worth slowing down. My only problem is I have missed several fish its just a very subltle bite I need to work on detecting them more and my success rate will probally go up more
  19. I have to go with capt cali on this one if I know for sure there doing something illegal then I will make the call. But I can say this much for ky atleast the area I'm in the game warden are really good about trying to catch anyone breaking the law.
  20. While its not an Peeve that pertains to actually being out on the water it is something that irratates me. I hate trying to explain to some people why I like buying high end equipment. I don't like there arguements that the zebco 33 is just as good and the cheap wal-mart rods will do the same thing. Granted they will catch fish and there is nothing wrong with using them but it is my preferance to buy what I buy not theres. So to combat this problem I don't tell them what I paid for something because thats what usaully gets it started. And when someone does happen to know how much I paid for something and asks why I Politely say if you have to ask you wouldn't understand. I really don't understand why this is a big deal to some
  21. Check out Bass Cat I'm considering them myself
  22. Wow I'm surprised that some of you guys don't like C rigging. I at first thought I didn't like it after trying it once. Then one day I just made myself use it and have liked it ever since. I don't really not like any technique there are some I use more than others but not one that I wouldn't use. If I had to name a technique it would be live bait I don't really see it as much of a challenge for myself but don't condone anyone who uses it though because we all have at some point and time.
  23. Introduce yourself and ask all he can do is say yes or no
  24. I think your doing the right thing at least your concearnd about taking care of it, I wouldn't call it being anul. If you want to see abuse to a boat my wifes uncle bought a $25k boat last year and leaves it outside the majority of the time without the cover on in the sun. It's already fadeing in some places. He invited me to go fishing with him and I took him up on it. I got to his house and when I put my tackle bag in the boat it splashed water on me from where he had left it sit outside with the plug stilll in the boat. There was about 2 inches of water in the floor of the boat, Needless to say I put my bag in the the truck with me.
  25. Thats a bummer new toy and can't play with it. With a three day weekend coming up and moma being out of the house I feel your pain Hang in there I hope it works out soon.
