  1. You caught a 26 pounder? It just so happen to be dying so it couldnt be certified? And this was in Virginia? I call bull. Lol
  2. You and Butch Brown have the same size PB? Cool.
  3. IMO small shops are the best if youre fishing your area. They have the most knowledge of the local waters and the best producing baits for those waters. If youre looking for a large selection obviously theyre not the place to go.
  4. I dont get why its so mandatory for some people to always use a trailer. I do a lot dont get me wrong but certain times i dont like to use one. Like for instance right now in the fall im usually swimming the jig trying to imitate a baitfish so ill go without a trailer and let the skirt do the work.
  5. I have that same one and its an awesome bait. Bluegill is the primary forage around here and now in the fall since they've been fattening up on gills they've been crushing that. I've had it for a while, paints worn, bill is chipped, and it still catches lots of fish, size and numbers.
  6. Ditto, and it was weird. This is a great post though. I agree with everything 100%.
  7. 12 inches is definitely a good Crappie. my biggest was 13 caught on a tiny pink curly tail grub on ultra light gear. Theyre tons of fun to catch that way.
  8. I agree. Right now at my local quarry lakes we have been crushing fish casting squarebills over rip rap and bouncing them off of rocks and stumps. Same with spinnerbaits.
  9. Sorry for acting like a jerk, was aggravated last night and felt like i was being attacked for asking about the fishing after the storm. Anyways, thankfully it wasnt bad here, temps didnt drop that much and there wasnt much rain, just wind. My family in Ocean City, NJ is all good. Their house is fine and the flooding at their house was minimal. They dodged a bullet cause some parts of OC i saw were under a lot of water. How they didnt get more is beyond me cause theyre at 5th and Bay which is right across the street from the bay and a few blocks from the ocean.
  10. Well thankfully around here it was nothing to write home about. Barely rained. More like a mist with wind. My aunts house in Ocean City is fine too. Water didn't reach up to the house. Only went a little past the curb.
  11. My fishing doesn end just because of winter. And you don't know my neighbors. Some of the biggest jerks you will ever meet. They wouldn't lift a finger to help me so they'll get nothing from me. Like I'm a bad person for wondering about fishing after the storm. Plus I don't buy into media news hype. Yea its bad for the coast and I feel for those people. I have family in Ocean City who I will most definitely be helping if they need it. But here in Philly they hype things up so bad on the news. Its only raining and windy and I'm not expecting much more. And season being over until after winter? I fish all year around so my season won't end.
  12. Yea i figured it would definitely cool the water a few more degrees. I dont think it will drop below 60 but who knows. Fished yesterday and me and my buddy did great with squarebills in bluegill colors. Ill get out Wednesday after the storm and see how it goes.
  13. My grandpop has the pics on his camera. Ill get him to email them to me and post for you guys to see. It was such a blast, cant wait to go again. Im a bass rat at heart but im getting an itch to fight big fish!
  14. Depending on where you live its probably a bad idea. I live in Philly so Im never ever keeping gear in my car.
  15. Im in Philadelphia and Sandy is supposed to wreak some havoc. I wonder though how will the fishing be after it passes. I mostly fish small quarry lakes about 1-3 acres in size. The water levels are a few feet low right now and the bass are crushing baitfish. There is non stop surface activity with bass chasing baitfish and Ive been doing great on spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, squarebill crankbaits and jerkbaits. Any ideas on how the hurricane will affect the fishing at these spots. I believe water temp is in the 60's though im not sure since i dont have a thermometer and im just going by how the water feels.

  18. I have a small quarry lake i fish with train tracks running along it too. But for some reason it does absolutely nothing to stir the fish up. I think theyre used to it or it spooks them cause i rarely catch fish on thst side.
  19. X2 Thats the same high tech piece of equipment I use, the good old pocket.
  20. Well it was awesome. The boat wasnt packed at all, maybe 30 people on a 90 foot boat. We used diamond jigs and caught tons of fish. Them Blues put up a hell of a fight. It was an awesome time and I cant wait to go again!
  21. Yea I was told them guys bust their ***** and basically make only tips so Ill def hook them up with some good tips. I cant wait. My grandpop said the average is 10-15 fish a man and they average 5-10 pounds with some even 20 pounders mixed in. Ive only ever fished freshwater so Im in for a treat fighting big fish. Cant friggin wait. Ill let ya know how I made out.
  22. Me, my grandpop and uncle are going out on a charter tomorrow fishing for Bluefish. We will be on the Miss Barnegat Light out of Barnegat Bay NJ. The boat is a 90 foot catamaran and there will be about 30-40 people on the boat. My grandpop saod theres no actual casting, just dropping the bait in and jigging for fish. Ive never been on a charter before so Im looking for any tips anyone can offer about catching Blues or just charter boat etiquette in general. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. We will be using a mixture of live bait, cut bait and jigging spoons.
  23. My fishing buddy uses only spinning reels and always busts my balls saying "you use those baitcasters so when you catch a fish you can feel like one of them pro guys." Lol. He got turned off by them when we first started using them because we were clueless and didnt know about having a smart thumb. He just doesnt feel like taking the time to educate his thumb. But like everyone is saying they excel at throwing heavier lures, I use spinning reels for weightless plastics, tiny cranks, jerkbaits and small in line spinners.
