  1. Reminds me of spending all day, gallons of gas, trying each spot, every lure or technique and maybe if lucky, hooking 1 dink. Then at the end of the day as you put the boat on the trailer, a 5lb bass cruises out from under the ramp dock.
  2. Maybe it was sold to them , but the lures totally different. These were all white with the color pattern and eyes printed on. https://www.ebay.com/itm/236264951636?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20250417133020%26meid%3D29f49e99870f4117894365e5cd751a2d%26pid%3D102726%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D236264951636%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4375194%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2WithMLRPboosterAndUpdatedFeatures_BP&_trksid=p4375194.c102726.m162918
  3. Does anyone remember a soft jerkbait called illusion lures? They came in a small clamshell with a few baits inside. I don't even remember where I purchased them. I ran out and it looks like they are all long gone. I found some packs on fleabay, but they are saltwater colors and are located in Italy, so tariffs apply. The bait itself was like a zoom superfluke, but the plastic was much tougher. They were painted or printed to look a real baitfish, shad , shiner, perch, minnow, etc. The action was nothing special, but the bass liked it. Why do the ones that work, always dissappear?

A guide on Big O just reported seeing a spray boat just spraying like crazy in clear open water just to empty his chemical tank so he could go back and collect his paycheck. People should be held accountable and prosecuted for this type of behavior.

They still catch some nice fish out of there, but how long will that last? My personal opinion is that there is way too many year around tournaments and guide trips on that lake and I believe that adds to the problem also.
  6. I hope I never have to empty my boat out, it may take a week and I would still miss some gear I have stashed in some corner somewhere.
  7. I do think spot lock would help me. I am the kind of angler that hates the wind. I would much rather fish a lake that looks like glass. I won't even venture out if wind is 15mph or over. FFS seems like cheating and most of our lakes are so shallow, I don't think it would help much. Someone also mentioned power poles, and that would be great, but not in the budget. It may also be overkill on my 15 ft bassboat.
  8. How do you like it? I have been thinking about this update for a few years now. I have an old MG. It has taken a beating, but still runs, so hard to update.
  9. Excellent PSA to check your wires. My trailer is very old. It lives inside so I never thought about the wiring. I checked it and the wires were very brittle and the insulation just crunched and fell off. I replaced all the wires last weekend. So if it has been a while, for safety, check your wires.
  10. I use top tier 10% ethanol in my old 2 stroke. I always add marine stabil which claims to neutralize the ethanol and ethanol based problems. I premix by adding oil to 5 gallon cans and fill those when I fill up the truck. I have never had any issues, carbs stay clean and she has been running perfect for the last 30 years. I add quickleen about every couple tank fulls. I use Pennzoil marine XLF for my oil. This works for me so I will continue to do so. Ethanol free is a bit harder to find and would be fine for me, but it is much more expensive even with my additives and I do not see it used much, so not sure how fresh it would be at the pump. I use the same fuel for my lawn equipment, with the marine stabil added. No problems.
  11. No trailer is my first choice, if needed a single or double tail grub. for less action a spunk shad or a keitech with the paddle tail cut off.
  12. I have noticed on many casts, the line catches on the front treble hook of my karashi, sometimes on both hooks. Anyone have this issue? I may try to put a bobber stop or a piece of tiny straw on the line in front of the lure to see if that helps. It may also be that I am using a light weight braid on my BFS reel, but It should not matter that much.
  13. I have not noticed a real big difference in sunny vs cloudy. I do believe wind makes more of a factor. Dead calm, light breeze, or wind and waves, changes everything by moving water, bait, and breaking up the surface. I do not fish when real windy, but I have noticed I generally get more bites when it goes from calm to light breeze.
  14. I wonder what the shipping companies will do when they have very little to ship. I used to order many items from overseas, because I could get high quality items at low prices. It is a shame, but my overseas shopping has stopped completely.

I have a bunch of worm weights and flippin and punching weights that got all mixed together. They are not labelled. Can anyone recommend a cheap scale so I can sort them out by weight. Thanks.
  16. Two things to consider, 1. Towing vehicle - fiberglass is much heavier requiring a larger stronger tow vehicle and more gas depending on distance to water. 2. Wind - Being heavier, fiberglass does not blow around as much in the wind and in most cases can handle larger lakes and waves depending on the boat. That said, some of the newer, larger aluminum boats can cut waves and have improved their ride greatly in the last few years.
  17. This is a follow-up to my line connection question earlier. What line type and lb test are you using on your BFS setup? I currently have 6lb suffix 131 braid. I feel it is too thin and wants to dig into the other line on the spool. Maybe a larger lb test braid or switch over to mono. I do not like FC so I will avoid that for now. Thanks.
  18. I am using 6# suffix 131 main line to 8lb maxima mono leader. I have tried the alberto, uni to uni, and the yucatan knot. All seem to catch the microguides to some extent. The rod is a cashion BFS with very small microguides. I believe I am going to use the straight braid. We have alot of grass and the braid can cut through if needed. If that does not work out, I will go to straight mono. I have never really liked FC lines. Thanks for everyones input.
  19. This may be a dumb question, but does anyone have problems with connection knots going through micro guides? I have tried different knots, but they all seem to catch a little causing shorter casting, or backlash problems. I have this problem on my BFS setup. The rod has micro guides and seems to cause the problem even with very light lines. I may just have to go with a straight line, mono or braid with no connection knot. Anyone?
  20. I think JDM lures are more refined. I don't know if they take more time in R&D, testing or what. Their colors and paint schemes are unmatched. Just scroll through the colors available on the megabass vision 110. Also, Japan does not have the vast bass fisheries we do. If they are doing field testing, you can bet it is in a heavily pressured lake. I do not think US lure manufacturers take the time needed. They are under deadlines to get the bait out for the classic or Icast or next season. That said, those JDM baits are very expensive. I believe most guys who are just fishing for fun can't afford all the new shiny objects because of family and the rising costs of everything. Personally, if I think it is worth it, I may save up over time or just buy the more affordable US equivalent.
  21. If the fish is in good shape, I will also cut the line off the hook eye, then I use a large side cutters and cut the hook in half as close as possible and pray for a healthy recovery. That video proves that it is possible. I would also assume they may at times swallow, crawfish shell or claw fragments, bluegill spines, etc. and cough them out or need to pass those.
  22. I have Kastking Sol Armis UPF 50 Sungloves. I really like them so far.
  23. There are far too many changing variables in bass fishing. I think people rely too much on Siri, Alexa, Echo, etc. to do things they would be better off doing themselves. AI is only as good as what it can get from other computer sources. Like all computers, it is what is put in. Garbage in , garbage out. I have found times where AI was dead wrong or somehow confused. After all it is in the name (Artificial) intelligence. I will not be using it for fishing. I find the less screens in fishing the happier I am. Nature is much better than any computer screen. I always find it funny when you see a pro's bassboat and the drivers seat looks like they are flying a 747 and most of the time they use very little of that stuff.
  24. On youtube try (outboard dad) and (Brandon's garage) both have great videos that are easy to follow and step by step. They both work on the old OMC -Johnson/ Evinrude. If you leave comments on their video, they are good to answer questions. Another one is (Dangar marine). Stu works on all marine engines. That small of an outboard should be real easy to work on. Good luck!
  25. Many real nice old plugs in this one. I love it!
