  1. RIP Lorenzo Magdaleno
  2. Spinning reel I would look at the Pflueger President or Purist and Shimano Sahara or Symetre. As for bait caster I would look at the BPS Pro Qualifier a great reel for the price. I would stay away from BPS spining reels and from the new Johnny Morris Carbonlite bait caster. For rods for spinning I would look at a 7' M/F spinning rod and a 7' MH/F bait casting rod. For manufactures I would look at St Croix Premiere or Mojo Bass, Abu Garcia Veritas or Vendetta 2, Fenwick Elite Tech Small Mouth, HMX and HMG and lastly *** *** Black rods. BPS Carbonlite rods are also pretty good rods for the price. For line I would just recommend a good quality co-poly or mono line in 12lbs for the bait caster and 8lbs for the spinning reel. Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a great line for co-poly and Seaguar Senshi for mono would be my choices for line. Also be sure to treat the line of choice with KVD L&L conditioner to help line management.
  3. Thanks for the great tip. I use this not for tying line to my spool and you just helped make this a lot easier.
  4. Definitely look at NorthStar and Seibert top quality jigs and great prices.
  5. I use them and they hold up very well and produce very well also. I have met the owners of the company and talked with Brent about them several times at our local sporting goods store. If the UV actually makes a difference I have no clue but I know they do work. Having lots of luck with the new UV Beaver in Blood color.
  6. If your throwing in light to no cover the Medium will be perfect. I use the 7' 3" M/F for fishing 5/16oz swim jigs and have absolutely no problems with it.
  7. Definitely a bait caster. Want that higher gear ratio.
  8. I have both and have not had a single issue with either reel. My G3 STX reels are just as good as my Lews reels. It is going to be all about which one feels better to you. Some people don't mind the new larger gear box on the STX and some people it bothers. That was my only concern when I got one and it hasn't bothered me so I got 3 more of them. Personally I like the feel of my STX just a little better.
  9. Yes backlashes can cause weak points in your line and these weak points can break during a cast.
  10. Thats Vanish line to a tee!!lol
  11. I use the Owner hook designed for Senkos by Yamamoto and consider myself lucky to get more then 1 per Senko. Nature of the Senko...
  12. I have several *** Black rods and they are absolutely fantastic rods. They are true to their rating and have plenty of backbone to drag fish out of cover. Am also very pleasantly surprised with the sensitivity of these rods.
  13. I use 8lbs InvizX on my spinning reel and have no problems with it. Also treat it with KVD L&L before each outing.
  14. I wouldn't recommend a light powered rod for any of those applications. I would use at least a medium powered rod.
  15. I use them for swim jig trailers. Cut the head off right behind the gill mark. Havent tried them any other way. Very durable bait.
  16. Congrats. What rod you going to get?
  17. No trailer or trailer hook for me either.
  18. Vanish has really bad memory issues and is pretty stiff line. You might try spraying it with some KVD L&L before each use as well. Should really help with the memory and help soften it up a bit.
  19. If you are able to justify it let me know as I am in the same situation as you. Just can't justify it.
  20. I believe it is only going to be available in the *** series at first.
  21. Tackle Warehouse is awesome for on line purchases. As far as line Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft and treated with KVD L&L and you should be good to go.
  22. I really like the 3 I have. 7' 3" M/F Spinning, 7' 3" M/F Bait Caster and 7' 3" MH/F Bait Caster. Have caught a lot of fish on all 3 of these rods ranging from 1lbs to around 5lbs and have not had an issue with any of them. Light, sensitive and very well built and just flat out perform...
  23. Same here.
  24. Jig or creature bait for me.
  25. Check your guides first and make sure they are smooth.
