  1. Spinnerbait or swim jig

I prefer my line to have a little stretch to it so I don't pull it out of the fishes mouth.
  3. Swim jigs and regular jigs are what I will normally use.

I prefer mono or a copolymer in 12lbs test

    Cavitron 3/8oz Black on Black
  6. My favorite braid Daiwa Samurai braid. Little expensive but very very good line. I also like SeaGuar Kanzen and Power Pro Super 8 Slick.
  7. No leader for me. I don't like the thought of having an extra knot in the line. I pretty much only fish fluorocarbon now, unless fishing really heavy cover and then I will fish straight braid with no leader.
  8. I would try jigs. There is lots of good info on jigs on here and they will produce and are very versatile baits as well.
  9. I really like Kinami single tail grubs, Havoc Subwoofer, Rage Tail single tail grubs, Rage Tail Menace and Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper. There really is no wrong trailer for a swim jig in my opinion.
  10. The only difference between the SX and the STX is the STX has better bearings, EVA knobs and a dual braking system. Both reels are great reels so it is going to come down to preference. The SX with the extended bent handle would make an outstanding frog rod and be less then the STX.
  11. I have tried lots of reels and always come back to Abu Garcia.
  12. I fish without rattles 98% of the time but when I do use rattles I fish them the same as I do without rattles. The only time I use rattles is in really muddy and dirty water.
  13. It does sound like the line has gotten lose and it is not tight on the spool anymore.

I use white or sexy shad in fairly clear water, will also try watermelon with some red. In dingy muddy water black and blue. I use Kinam 4 inch single tail grubs and Havoc Subwoofer trailers. Till yesterday when I tried Reaction Innovations Skinny Dippers....
  15. We have BPS and Cabelas near and I prefer the locally family owned Rogers. Awesome assortment of everything, great prices and a very knowledgeable staff.
  16. Swim Jig would be mine. 5/16oz in white or sexy shad with a kinami 4 inch single grub trailer.
  17. Power Pro or Suffix braided line. SeaGuar also makes an excellent line as does Daiwa. Heard good things about the Bass Pro braid also.
  18. I use a lot of brands. Yamamoto, Berkley, Kinami, Reaction Innovations, YUM, Strike King, etc.... Will use what ever puts them in the boat...
  19. I have the 7' 3" MH/F and it is a great rod especially for the price. You can get 15% off right now at Tackle Warehouse so at that price it would really be hard to not pick one up and try it out.
  20. Very rarely do you find Shimano reels on sale, same with Loomis and Daiwa and a few others.
  21. I agree with this. I use the NorthStar Original swim jig. Just swim it thru and when it hangs pop it and hold on. Because they will attack it when it pops free.
  22. rockchalk06 Did you try a Havoc Subwoofer with it? I tried some after you and Chris recommended it and they have performed amazing so far.
  23. When I was big into racing rc cars on road carpet tracks we used lighter fluid and would put the bearings on a shaft and spin them and set them on fire to burn the carpet threads out of the bearing to ensure absolutely clean and free spinning bearings. For fishing I just soak them in acteone and then rinse them in denatured alcohol and let them air dry between steps. Then apply a little bearing oil. Much safer process.....
  24. Revo S, Curado G or E if you can find one. Lews makes great reels and the Chronarch would work well also. You might even be able to find a Revo STX in that price range. Lots of great reels out there in this price range.
  25. Unfortunately there is no right or wrong answer to this. My brother will only fish braid, my son will only fish braid. We really don't fish anywhere that requires braid. But that is what they feel confident in using. Myself I use fluorocarbon for everything but top water and jerkbaits. But thats just my preference. Everyones preference will be different. There is no wrong or right answers to this unfortunately.
