  1. Jeeze,," Fishes" , don't bring down the whole BR, non Shimano lovers on us at the same time. We can take them on one at a time but this could turn into a whole new Shimano vs. lesser reels debate. That could take up 100's of pages on this thread. Can anyone calculate how much fossil fuel would be used to refute our claim that Shimano is the best. I only have so much time in my retired life to defend my Shimano love. I need time to go fishing with my great Shimano reels. Think before you post.
  2. Ghoti: Read my post on the tackle thread " How to defeat the bait monkey" I'm with you. Let's get this evil little son of a gun ( wow, that was hard to say with out cussin) out of our lives and just go fishing. Now, repeat after me, "I am a bass fisherman and I have a problem"
  3. A lot will depend on the water level and temp. in mid May. Are you stuck in pool #7 or can you drop down to #8 or #9 ?. I have my best luck in mid May on white swimjigs with single grub trailer, 3/8-1/2 oz. double willow spinnerbaits, chart/white or rainbow in the backwaters. They should be pre spawn but moving into the backwaters which will be a little warmer and attract shad. Look for any new weed growth , anything green, wood, etc. Good Luck
  4. d**n guys, I just have better luck with the real GYBC senkos. I don't know what it is, but I do. I guess, if I'm going to spend $4.60 for a gallon of gas for my boat, and drive "what ever" miles @ $4.60 a gal. for my pickup truck to get to where I am going to fish, a few more bucks for real senkos is minor. Just my point of view. Peace
  5. Well, until the 1940's, in Wisconsin, ( The muskey capital of the world) The guides would shoot them in the head with a .32 cal. pistol. Things have changed just a little bit, Now they use a catch and release net and 95% are put back. Use a net, treat them with kindness and "put em back"
  6. I always use a ball bearing swivel. If your bait moves on the hook at all, the bait will spin and really, really make a mess. Weight, bead, swivel, leader and hook.
  7. Hold it, I was just joking when I said buy a bottle of booze. Just ease up a little bit, I wasn't condoning drinking, It was a freeking joke. OK?
  8. Godspeed and Thank You.
  9. I intend to donate it to 7 grandchildren as they grow.
  10. Being 68 years old, I keep finding gear I forgot I had, Looking at 100's and 100's of bags of plastics, 100's of cranks, 100+ spinnerbaits in the boat and another 100+ on the wall of my man cave.I went down to Guntersville a few weeks ago and took the plastics I needed in a small bag, All the cranks I needed in a single box and most of what I needed weighed about 5 lbs. I'm sure I have between $5K and 10K in tackle, not counting rods and reels. ( the old saying of " I hope my wife doesn't sell my gear for what I told her I paid for it") is "ME". After all my years of bass fishing, I have culled what I really need down to: 5" pumpkin, black/blue flake and silver/black flake Senko's. #200 Bandits in spring craw, rayburn red and black back shad. !/4 and 3/8 oz. double willow spinnerbaits ( my choice of colors). Jigs for swimming, shakey heads, and dunking into cover. A couple of topwater lures ie: Chugbug, tiny trorp and jitterbug, Zoom 7" Utail worms in pumpkin, plum, sour grape and black. A couple of Zoom baby brush hogs in the same colors as the worms. Have I limited myself, you bet, but oh how I have freed myself from the bait monkey. I now can just go fishing and not worry about what I don't have. Free yourself my brothers and buy good sippin booze instead of listening to the bait monkey.
  11. Try the Mississippi River pools #9 and #10 on a summer day. I would be willing to bet that there are 1000+ boats from 10' to 50'. Cigar boats that come within a few feet of you if you are fishing and absolutely no law enforcement. Not fun.
  12. I have fished a whole lot of Bassmaster top 100 lakes and a bunch that are not on the list. But there is a 350 acre lake, tucked into the UP of Michigan, that flat out has me under it's spell. I spent 3 days last year in Aug. and landed 17 smallies between 3 and 4.5 lbs. About 7-8 smaller than that. It is a C and R lake but no one likes to fish it because it is so clear. I caught all of the fish on a crawfish colored tube. It is "one special lake" and, no, I'm not giving out the name.
  13. "Keep on keepin on" sir. We are all on your side. Good Luck and Godspeed.
  14. Great bluegill paint job.
  15. A #200 series Bandit (dives to 6-7 ft.) in red and spring craw. A SK KVD sq. bill in sexy shad and a 1/2 oz. Cordell Spot in silver/ black back. Under $20.00 and a real good start.
  16. zoom and gitzit x2
  17. My Dad, who passed away 12 years ago , taught me to love fishing at an early age. My best friend, who passed away 2 years ago and made every fishing trip I did for many years and my 7 grandchildren. All of their dad's fish, but I hope to have at least some input. And last, both of my Grandfathers who also loved to fish. I guess, it in the genes.
  18. Not a single vote for Wisconsin. Lets see, Minn. make their claim of 10,000 lakes, We have 14,000 named lakes. We have Lake Superior, great smallmouth fishing and trout and walleye and perch. The Mississippi, (the best multi species fishing hole in the US) Elites here the last two years. Green Bay, smallies and walleye and perch and musky, Elites here two years ago. We have 1000s of miles of trout streams, Super salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. Super walleye runs on many rivers. Spring run rainbow trout fishing on about 25 rivers. Sturgeon fishing. Fantastic runs of white bass. Oh, did I mention that we have 14,000 lakes that provide all the panfish you can eat. Oh, again, did I mention that Wisconsin is the Musky fishing capital of the world. Yes, the winters can be long, but we have deer and grouse and turkey and bear and pheasant and wolf and coyote and woodcock and rabbit and dove and wild boar and goose and ducks to hunt. And a whole lot of folks really love to ice fish. Did I mention we also make beer and cheese here. No, I am not a paid lobbyist. Peace.
  19. I did not ever call you dumb, Read what I said. I still would like you to prove your statements by providing the threads, posts and quotes. You don't need to redact the names because whatever is posted here is public. Your refusal, because you don't want to name, names is BS. Just provide a few, One real bias quote, any person who has said " those darn rich guys have better tackle than me " or " those dumb bassfisherguys don't spend enough on their tackle and can't possibly catch fish' I would be willing to bet you can't. The ball is in your corner.
  20. "I guess you are right, I'm just disappointed it's here" ... Yes I was, because I hadn't seen it here until you brought it up. I wish you would give examples of this bias, ie: threads, posts, and quotes of what you claim.
  21. I guess I've never seen any of either on these threads. Looks to me like it's an effort to start a class war over bass fishing. Pretty dumb.
  22. Don't blame the retailer, if the manufacturer can't get the product to them. I'm sure that TW is just as frustrated as you are.
  23. Well, at least my Brewers started out right. I agree, the Braves looked injured. Did not look like they were in the game at any time. Tomorrow will tell.
