  1. I welded one up from some 1" square tubing, it fits inside the motor base. Now I can lock it in place when I leave it overnight on the water while I'm camped. Kind of a fun project and a worthwhile addition to the boat.
  2. It would be a shame to launch it and get it all wet!
  3. Just a thought on the carpeting: Have you considered using a spray-in bedliner instead? Much easier to maintain than carpet.
  4. A sandwich w/pepsi and an apple, Heineken and Grizzly wintergreen. But don't tell my wife about the last one! If I'm really hungry I'll eat my bait.
  5. Yeah I've heard that too but I'm thinking: tobacco is addictive right? So lets all start chewing Skoal, spitting into the lakes and getting the fish addicted. Then we can dip our lures in the stuff and the fish will just go nuts over them. Where else can they get their addiction satisfied? Now my GED is paying off!
  6. Almost always a sandwich, some turkey, ham, beef or combination. An apple goes great for snacks and a can of Grizzly Wintergreen as already mentioned. I only chew when I'm fishing, not sure why, just goes well. Oh yeah, pepsi or Heineken. What goes best on a hot dog? For me it's mustard and onions. The worst is ketchup and relish.
  7. Wow, can't believe some of you guys never heard of them. An old-time classic bass lure. Guess I'm giving away my age!

I'm never quite sure how fast to jerk them. Do you just give it a twitch or a serious jerk? How far do you jerk them? Haven't found a comfort level with these yet.
  9. Never thought of using one as a trailer but it might work for those times when you want to slow down the drop of the jig. Kinda bulky but you could trim off some of the toad body. Those kicky little legs might give your jig a new look.
  10. That's the 2nd reference I've heard recently regarding the length of daylight vs water temps. I know that plants respond to the length of daylight so this could also be true of fish. Anyone have any more input on this?
  11. Try this website: www.azbasszone.com I'm from Tucson but most of the contributors to this site are from the area you're looking at. I'm sure someone can give you a heads-up.
  12. Anything from Victoria's Secret works fine.
  13. The boat in the 2nd pic looks like a Crestliner Canadian 16. I have a Canadian 18, my first boat. Really happy with it. Good luck on you conversion, looks like a fun project.
  14. What was in it? If you are in my age category that would put it back in the 50's - 60's. It was about the size of a dwarfs lunchbox, had one cantilever drawer with about 6 compartments, the inside was coated with a protective layer of rust overlayed by some ratty moth-eaten cork. There would be about a dozen lures most with propellers or front scoops, always about 5/8 oz, some old snelled hooks, various sinkers of weird design etc. It also had at least one jitterbug, a daredevil (red and white), a johnson silver minnow, a flatfish and a jar of pork rind from the pleistocene era with the rusty metal cap permanently bonded to the jar. We have come a long way haven't we? I've gotten a lot older but when I'm in the boat early in the morning with a rod in my hand, still just a kid. How do you think you'd make out if you could take all your modern fishing stuff, including boat, back to the 50's? There would be a lot fewer fisherman, a lot more adult bass and they would all be ignorant of modern techniques. Man, we'd be fishermen from hell. "Lemme tell 'ya what for boy!"

Anyone remember these? They were a classic 40 years ago. The bigger ones had 4 (!) treble hooks that would snag anything they came near but they had a great high-speed wobble. There was a code stamped on them defining the action but I could never figure out the code: X2, U4, F2. You'd think the F would stand for "floating" but you'd be wrong. Are these still being made? I had some in an old tackle box plus I inherited a few from my Dad so I'm going to update the hooks and play with them this spring. Maybe all the new bass haven't seen one so I'll take them by surprise.
  16. That's the reason I use a snap on the end of my line. A few times I've changed baits and then changed my mind before it even gets in the water!
  17. You said Fishing Pics right? Nothing about Catching.
  18. You can base your power requirements on the wet weight of your boat including tackle, fuel, people etc. Then figure 2lbs of thrust for every 100 lbs of boat. That should provide you a basic idea of your power requirements, then throw in a little more for 'just in case'.
  19. I'd seriously consider a double-tail hula grub, watermelon/redflake. This scenario would sure simplify fishing, just carry one 360 Plano and one of those rod/reel things.
  20. Me and you brudda. I don't much care for anything with the Berkley name on it though.
  21. I love the idea of night fishing and here in AZ it's the only way to fish from mid-May thru mid-Sept. but I only go out when there's a good bright moon because I've noticed that at night it gets real dark and when it gets real dark it gets real hard to see your line/lure, the shoreline, and anything else. So I consider it a love/hate relationship. The ideas on this posting are inspiring me to get some UV line and light and how does that Nucle-eye(sp) work out for you guys? Another big plus is that you have the lake pretty much to yourself. Drawback is you've gotta sleep during the day, stay awake at night and the transition is difficult. But I'm old. sorta kinda.
  22. I have a couple in my box, always fish them with a trailer. Used them a lot when I was fishing in Florida but hardly every here in AZ, just not any lilypads to use them in.
  23. My sentiments exactly, even though I'm not a Cajun Boy. They're tools, not objects d' art (whatever that is).
  24. These may be the future of fishing. Wouldn't it be nice to take a road trip with one of these, fishing any waters you come across? If I undetstand it, you can use an electric TM on some of these models. That would make things a lot more convenient.
  25. You gotta learn when to hold 'em, learn when to fold 'em and learn when to hire a pro. I'll give you credit for trying but man, welding aluminum is not easy. Generally, if I've got to learn an entire new skill set for a one -time job it's time to haul out the yellow pages.
