  1. i had a avid 66 med . and i used to toss senkos with it .... caught tons of bass on that rod bigguns too... ;D
  2. thats a killer rod ,,,, i have a 6ft3 legened elite med lit .... killer rod i use mine for bass or trout .... but mainly bass .... ;D
  3. i saw a show with the greg hackney .... he says to use a 20lb flour and a heavy wire hook .... this will let the worm look more natty on the fall .... i think ill try this system ,,, makes cents to me .... but that being said i have used p-line cxx 15-18lb and caught fish ..... i just wonder if a little switch up would improve my catch ( get me more bites ) ...... :-/
  4. with the light weight swimbaits you can get away with a worm or flipping stick ..... i was just suggesting a swimbait rod ,,,, because when you start its all sown hill .... i felt the same way you did about not being in cali ,,,, but let me tell ya smaller bass will slam a bigger bait .... last summer i had 13inch bass hammering a 6in trout swimbait .... if you want to toss some bigger baits dont be scared ,,, the hoggs will hit them and hit them hard .... i have to recomened tryin some slightly bigger baits ,,, even if you have bass olny in the 5lb range .... its a blast ...
  5. okuma has a good line of swimbait rods ,,, i have a 7ft6 heavy and it does well .... these rods are made for tossin big baits .... the new swimbait rod ill be buyin in spring is the redington ... this rod is 3inches longer and the handel is 3 inches shorter witch gives me more tip and allows me to deal with any hard surges ..... ;D bolth rods price at 100 bucks
  6. you can look at tackle tours review of the calais dc ... this should give you enough understanding of the reel to figure out the japanise version,,, the andreas dc .... bolth reels should have the same system ... i have a scorp 1001 ,,, fairly easy to figure out .... good luck the andreas is a sweet reel
  7. i for one have used the st croix warrenty and will say it is outstanding ..... i once sent 4 rods in with 20 bucks and 3 days later no questions asked all 4 where back on my porch bran new ..... as for croix haveing the loomis warrent ,,,, not ... why pay 50 when you just send 20 .....
  8. yup bizzel ,,,, you fish with him ...... lol ,, you busted me .... my redington will be in the mail right after christmas .... ;D
  9. hey if you really wanna toss the bigbaits you may wanna look at the redington rods ..... i talk to a known swimbaiter and he swears by the redington rod .... this rod will do it all ,,, and at 100 bucks a great value ..... i have the okuma 76 heav ,,, not bad but IMO the redington is a better value ... i lost a few hoggs last year as well as my PB ,,, using the okuma .... almost all where lost at my feet .... the redington offers a softer tip witch will alow you to keep preasure on the fish when its on a surge .... and believe me when they see you ,,, there running like crazy .... as for the reel i use a cardiff 301 ,,,, not a bad reel ,,, but there are better .... id really like a calcutta te 251 .... or a new cu 301 ,,, olny prob the 301 isnt out yet .... so ill more than likely use the cardiff another season ..... all in all you will need to spend 200 for a rod and reel ..... thats an okuma big bait or the redington ,,,, bolth will cost ya 100 ... and reel the cardiff will get ya bye at 100 ... so just plan on spending no less than 200 for a good set up .... they go up from there ....
  10. i use p-line cxx 15lb for worming ...... love it ... it just works for me is all
  11. well avid all i can say is ive had the stella ,, 2 stradics and a few of the lower end shimanos .... i cant say anything bad about any of the reels listed .... now that being said the brother in-law uses quantam pt spinning gear and he loves it .... i fish with him all summer and he seems to have little trouble if any so i just wanna say look befor you spend ... ive been looking at the kandic pt 20 for the ol ladie or the energy pt 20 eighter way the quantam line up wont kill the pocket book... and IMO deserves a look see
  12. ok so theres a new cu300 out .... i need one ....heres the prob i need a lefty(301) ,,, anyone have a clue when we could see the 301 hit the open market ????
  13. for me a rod is simply a tool.... now i do spend some ching on rods ..... well alotta ching , but at the end of the day a rod is what you make it , bottom line .... fish with what makes you happy .... thats all that matters
  14. ok here gos .... ive been useing p-line cxx moss green for a while and really like the line.... but since then ive been looking at the machine gun cast by sun line .... i wonder how good it really is ??? i hear good things here and there but have yet to use it .... also sun-line makes a shooter defier line witch is rather pricey .... but i would like to know if any guys here have used it or know anyone who is ??? also whats your thoughts on eighter lines ;D
  15. i prefer green ,but will use a copper color if green isnt aviable
  16. well st croix offers a great warrenty .... so dont be fooled .... the croix warrenty is every bit as good as a loomis warrenty...
  17. id go legened tourny ...... sweet rods .... in fact ill be getting a few legened tournys this year before our season starts ....
  18. well you have a tough one there ... heres the problem ,, your asking about 2 reels that have just came out ..... bottom line they havent been around long enough ..... i hear a few muskie guys here where useing the big record and liked the reel, but the reels olny where able to make 1 year before needing to be replaced ..... and bolth guys replaced them with the calcuttas .... now that doesnt say anything about bassin ,, but it makes me wonder a little ..... so just be careful , and truthfully go check out all the reels before you decide what you want .... even if its a brand your not fond of ... just pick it up see how it fits in your hand , and reel it a few times , check the drags ,and line caps and retrive speeds ... and after you do this you should have a good ideal of what you want .... ohh and remember you will have to fish that reel ,, so get a good one it will save you in the long run .... ;D good luck
  19. just like anything else it wont be easy at first ..... but stick with it muddy .... youll get it .... i bet if you practice ... you have it down ... i just switched 2 years ago and i absoulty love it .... good luck
  20. i dont use them ,,,yet .... but i will have a few by summer..... i want to back up all my rods with the new st croix legened tourney bass rods .... and ill be useing the new cus for all rods /// ... i did handel one before and there are just as smooth as my chronarch ,,well real close .... i should say close enogh to impress me .... ;D
  21. id say a 6ft6 med-hev st croix tourney bass ..... worm and jig rod ..... theres a 2 in 1 and youll still have fifty bucks in your pocket .... well o yea and one killer rod ,,, with great senativty ..... ;D just my thought ;D
  22. man all i can say is get a st croix premiere ..... imo a big step up ....
  23. well i was a chronarch guy but after seeing the new cu ,,,, i got to say there isnt that much difference .... even if you look at the specs.. the reels are real close .... now the calais ,, thats a different animal .... i geuss if i where you id say ,,, get the cu ... in fact ill be getting 5 new cu,s of so this year ... i just love the new cu ;D imo
  24. i have a med avid 6ft3 i use for worming ..... the blank is just that strong .... now when i need a liter aplication i have a 6ft3 legened elite med-lite and have had no troubles .... id say go with the med-lite ,,, the med may be just to beefy
