Bass fishing myths
Yup. Ive seen them "nose down" on 5 LB flouro so I know they can see your line. How much does that matter in the grand scheme of things, who knows. Line diameter plays a part in a baits action. I have had days where light line has made a difference and others days where they eat the paint off the boat.

How Do You Personally Set Your Drag?
By feel, by hand. Been doing it this way since I was a wee youngster from what my Dad taught me. What I have found out testing it with a scale is that I fish a "heavy" drag by nature. Usually about a 1/3, but not too much more than that ever. I am good with this. Pops usually fishes his a little bit lighter, closer to a 1/4. It's not necessary to fish a stouter drag setting for green bass fishing, but I like to PULL on saltwater fish. Keep them away from rocks, tangles, sea lions, etc. This is where a heavier set drag comes in handy. There is a fine line though, and I try and walk this every time I'm on the water.

d**n... Haha- Should I replace black and blue with junebug?
My answer is no and that's with me choosing Junebug 99% of the time over B & B and JB 100% of the time if I could only choose one. I would never completely get rid of one color though for any arbitrary reason. I would DEFINITELY stock up on some Junebug. My all time favorite color. Really just purple in general.- Ned Rig Jig Head Colors?
Almost all my jig heads and weights are one of four colors: Plain, Black, G Pumpkin or Brown. This includes Ned Heads.- What lure caught your biggest bass in 2019 ?
My version of a "Senko" in Mexico. Haha. Greenpumpkin W/ Black and Gold flake on a T-Rig in 25-30' of water.- Anyone "fish" this way?
Frog on frog violence is real! Haha. If frogs are eating the hollow body frog, its time to move on to another area for me.- What's your go-to rig/plastic for Calico Bass
My go-to for Calico Bass are 5" swimbaits. However, I target them in the ocean in the Kelp Beds. With that being said, when I'm fishing the bays I also used swimbaits, they are just 3" models for Spotted Bay Bass. I make my own plastics and usually use either a 1/4 oz or 3/8ths oz lead head. My favorite colors are greens and browns, although any color will have its time and place. Spotted Bay Bass, Barred Sand Bass and Calico (Kelp) Bass all eat plastic swimbaits willingly. Hammer 4 also had some good info as well. Cheers!- I just like catching fish..
There was a time and a place a while back I would say yes, however not so much now. I have a handful of fish I specifically target and if I cant get on em, oh well. I don't switch tactics or target other fish. Skunks don't bother me as much as they used to. I always strive to catch fish, but of the target species isn't biting, I don't stress about it. I don't even consider by-catch as a skunk buster. For instance, if I'm Bass fishing and accidentally hook a catfish, that doesn't count as its not my targeted species. Same as if I was Yellowfin Tuna fishing and hook a Skipjack Tuna. No dice and it doesn't bother me. If I'm after a particular fish, that is my only goal.- Most expensive lure you own
Triple Trout. I never throw the thing. I should change that. haha- What do you have to force yourself to do in 2020?
I'm not sure if "you're" being a smart ass/ grammar nazi because I used "they are" instead of "they're" or "the baits are", but thanks for quoting me and your insightful contribution. I have no idea who you're referring to with 'they'.- What do you have to force yourself to do in 2020?
I know I'm not the OP of that post, but I totally agree. For me they are 1. Worm 2. Jig 3. Spinner Bait 4. Crank Bait 5. Top Water (Popper, Spook). That's my all-time top 5 and all very "old school" IMHO.- Going back to budget?
I have... in some instances. At one point I bought the very best I could afford when building my quiver up and then realized along the way for me personally it was unnecessary for some techniques. However, there are some techniques I will not fish anything but what I feel is top of the line and others where a nice mid priced range rod will do just fine. I do not fish "budget" anything (which is perfectly fine for some people IMHO), but will fish mid range to top shelf models form different brands (G Loomis, Falcon, Kistler, etc for me).- How do you choose which finesse presentation to use
Location mostly. Deep, vertical water is perfect for drop shot, shallower is great for fly lined senkos and nail weight rigs.- Vehicle Organization? Mandatory Gear?
F150 and I don't keep anything in it for fishing other than light weight rain gear (could be fro any situation though), extra packages of my plastics (mostly to give away though) and bolt cutters (mini and medium just in case).- What do you have to force yourself to do in 2020?
Exercise and eat right... Oh we're talking about fishing? Haha. Well, the first part will help with that also but in all seriousness, the same as every year... Just GO more! I really need to fish more often! I probably had less than 40 days on the water including both fresh and salt water last year. Pretty pathetic for me under my circumstances (I know every ones circumstances are different and some would kill for that many). Also to fish brand new lures siting in my tackle trays, primarily "lipped" Crank Baits (I throw lip-less quite a bit). I need to force myself into turn them onto fish catchers instead of dust collectors.- Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
I applaud your optimism, enthusiasm for and more importantly your great catches over the years at that place.- Which Hook Do You Use For Bass Fishing With Plastic Worms?
Thick plastics = Gammy 3/0 EWG Thin plastics = Gammy 2/0 RB Drop shot = Gammy 2 SS/ DS That about does it for 99% of my fishing. I do own other hooks for special occasions (IE: Gammy 5/0 SL, Robo 1 Rebarb, etc), however those specific 3 hooks cover most of my bases. Now jig heads, weedless underspins, etc are a whole other can of worms...- Fishing lures from A to Z
