  1. I'll just be one more person to reiterate that "budget" and "Flouro" do not belong on the same sentence. Of ALL the different types of lines, this is exceptionally true. You would be much better off just fishing a decent Mono instead of trying to skimp on Flouro.
  2. Usually very short sessions about 2 - 4 hours. Occasionally I will do a 1/2 day or full day if I'm with a buddy on one of our days off. Time of day wise, I definitely prefer the first few hours of the day or the last few hours of the day. Boat, Yak stuff is usually and all day affair with a minimum of a 1/2 day, so I get the bulk of my hours in that way.
  3. A little late, but here you go: SPORT FISHING REGULATIONS FRESH WATER CALIFORNIA 2019-2020 Freshwater Sport Fishing Regulations Effective March 1, 2019 - February 29, 2020 unless otherwise noted herein Chapter 2. Statewide Regulations for Fishing and Frogging in Inland Waters: ARTICLE 1. FISHING METHODS AND GEAR RESTRICTIONS2.00. FISHING METHODS —GENERAL.(a) Except as otherwise authorized, all fish may be taken only by angling with one closely attended rod and line or one hand line with not more than three hooks nor more than three artificial lures (each lure may have three hooks attached) attached thereto. Anglers in possession of a valid two-rod stamp and anglers under 16 years of age may use up to two rods in inland waters which regulations provide for the taking of fish by angling, except those waters in which only artificial lures or barbless hooks may be used. See District Trout, Salmon and Special regulations for exceptions.
  4. If anything, the realization that the BaIt MoNkEy is alive and thriving via the "BMVSG" thread has helped me take a good hard look in the mirror and help curb my purchasing habits. Don't get it twisted though, I know he is out there still biding his time... lurking... waiting...
  5. Do Bass know what day of the week it is? Of course not! However, whether "catching" is better or not on a crowded Saturday vs. an empty Wednesday, to many variables to tell ahead of time. I sure do know which day I rather go "fishing" on though! Hopefully the "catching" part cooperates! Haha
  6. Good grief, ain't that the truth. Even thought this state is MASSIVE in size (3rd largest) and most of it is rural country side, the numbers of outdoors men is greatly dwarfed by urban residents with anything but the future development and sustainability of our fishing and hunting resources. I mean this either physically, politically or philosophically. Adding to that is the fact that a large part of the people who enjoy the recreation the outdoors has to offer are much more likely to go hug a tree, than to sit in one and put food on the table the good old fashion way. The crazy thing is we do have some spectacular fishing (think Dottie or the 25 biggest LMB) and hunting to offer. And to stay on topic, one of the first things I'm gonna do when I finally get to Texas (my good friend hunts there every year with his family and I'm down to go) is go to an Academy and buy the stuff I want that I can't get shipped here and go eat a Buc-ee's brisket sandwich! haha
  7. Another vote for 3/8ths and 1/2 oz. Don't even own any other size as 3/8ths gets 99% of the action anyway unless its windy or I need to fish deeper.
  8. My trailer is a trailer hook!
  9. Huge fan of them! They have saved the day for me at times and they have loaded the boat for me other times. I fish em' just like I would a spinner bait, but for me its more of an emphasis on the trailer than with a spinner bait. Example; I fish a spinner bait with maybe a trailer when I want the blades to be the emphasis and I fish and underspin when I want the swimbait to be the emphasis with a little vibration and flash. Hope that makes sense. For the record my go-to style trailers for underspins are fluke and swimbait style trailers.
  10. Used to pay $100+ regularly (I think most was $140?) for running shoes when I was running hardcore all the time and it was 100% worth it to me. Priceless actually. As I slowed down my running habits significantly and I just had to stop the madness. Now I can find a decent pair sub $100 (I think last ones were $80). Last pair of "casual" sneakers were $60.
  11. Two. Back in the "day" when my pops was teaching me how to Bass fishing with lures it was a plastic worm and a crank bait. One for a slow bottom presentation and one for a mid-top reaction presentation. Mostly T-rigged local handpours and Rapala Shad Raps. Still throw both to this day, but while the T-Rig is my all time number one confidence technique, crankin' is a very bite specific technique for me.
  12. The Calcutta, the Crucial or the Red Shad Ribbon Tail? All of the above? Haha
  13. Yeah, well as I'm sure you can imagine, that's a whole nuther' can o' worms...
  14. Yup. I agree. CA with the most expensive fishing license in the nation! The hunting costs would make most puke! ugh...
  15. Strange. This is THE Flouro that finally got me to start using Flouro regularly because of how well its handles. I actually used the 16# almost exclusively on a 3.5 day trip to Mexico last year with incredible results.
  16. I used 12 forever, now mostly use 15.
  17. Believe me, unfortunately this is a topic of discussion out here more than anyone would ever care to like! Its frickin' absurd to be honest. For example, we have a reservoir out here that is only open 5 months a year, 3 days a week, day light hours only, that has $100 permit fee that you have to buy through Ticketmaster (on top of our $50 fishing license), that is catch and release only, with artificial lures only, with barbless hooks only, with their rental boats only, with no water contact and you cant even use scent! Believe me, I WISH I was making this stuff up.
  18. I WISH I could order stuff from Academy, but alas, I live in Kaliforny, the land of fruits n' nuts and they cant ship here because of the lead proposition and such. Got a great recommendation on some waders from a guy in Texas that swears by them. Of course I couldn't order them. So ridiculous...
  19. RB 77 replied to Heron's topic in Fishing Tackle
I have definitely caught fish on a Hollow Body Frog with mono as well for sure, but 100% use braid now as most do.
  20. Well, thinking like that sure should cure that superstition! Haha.
  21. Nah... I used to be something fierce though! It's kind of amazing how insanely superstitious I used to be and now I'm 99.99% percent not. 100% not when it comes to fishing. The one thing after all these years though, is hats on a bed. I know, I know... I actually have to throw one on there every once in while just to remind myself how ridiculous being superstitious is for me personally though. I do respect other peoples though, and get a kick out of some of the classics : IE bananas, first cast, lucky hat, lure, etc. To each their own if someone is though.
  22. Awesome! Thank you. Shad Rap has always been a favorite of mine since I was a wee youngster.
