Show off your Stuff
Been playing dress up to a few reels. Blue TD-Z Type R+ has been a chore. Drive shaft threads for the nut are stripped and the availability of them is non existent. Ruined anyway, I decided to see if I could mill it down and tap it to accept a Steez bolt that what comes on the Steez LTD, Steez SV TW, etc. Got er' first try. (after using 3 different bits...finally figured out the threads) . Now I just need to find a blue steez nut and a nicer handle.

Very interesting theory/conclusion, for the [shimano] "reel" nerds
Free spool tests aren't a relevant or even reputable test of how well a reel performs while casting. It's just cosmetic. Go cast them side by side and see which is better. That's really the only relevant test to the bearings quality. A stainless steel shield is the most common shield and found in most reels. Many JDM aftermarket bearings have them, too. Shimano doesn't make reel bearings. They almost certainly buy in bulk. Shimano, generally, has a very good stock bearing, too. You can buy NMB bearings in bulk through them or you can buy them individually on ebay. Shimano spool bearings (the NMB brand and size) are 8$ a piece on ebay. That's what hawgtech charges for theirs for a price comparison. You're really over thinking this. If you want to know exactly what's in your reel, spend 25$ on some hedgehogs or ZPI spool bearings and call it a day.

NRX advice and Megabass vs NRX
803 is work fine for what you want. you will want the 894 or 873 for your other rod and what you want to use it for if staying loomis. I've used both the NRX and MB. Don't have a ton of time on the MB yet but have a lot on the NRX rods I used to have. I'd go MB. the 895 is a the worst NRX model made. It is ridiculously tip heavy and is very, very stout.

Why on earth would anyone spend $400 on a bass rod?
That's kind of true. Gloomis does not offer the wild card program anymore and has not since 2015/2016. It is now the Xpeditor program that is not a one time free no questions asked replacement that is sent to you immediately and you are given 30 days to send your broken one back or you are charged for the new one. It's X amount of dollars in regards to the series. I believe the NRX is 100$. If you have an old wildcard, they will be honored but you won't get a new one in return and they do not offer them anymore.

Reel for Diablo Spec-R
Both balance well on the spec-R. My Steez SV TW is on a different rod. I have a Steez sV103 on the spec - r.

Reel for Diablo Spec-R
Balances really well. Right around the foregrip. I can get an exact location if you want. Mine is a 6:3 but I put 7:3 zillion type R gears in mine. The Steez SV is an animal /w a Type R + spool in it. The SV spool it comes with is really nice, too.

Nail weights: tungsten or nails or screws?
The lunker city weights are really good. Don't like tungsten for neko rigs. Prefer the push in ribbed lead style. drywall screws work really well, too.

Onboard battery charger
Dual Pro 15x3 is a great charger. I've had them on my last 2 boats and they are, I believe, the only charger that can be sent in for repairs. Not 100% on that though. MK330 is a good one, too. You could move the cranking lead over to the trolling motor battery and just get a single charger to throw on the cranking battery. You should always have a charge on every battery when not in use.

Okuma Helios parts
If you don't care about cosmetics, use one of the "taller" threaded nuts that old shimanos, daiwas or abus used. Okuma likely uses a cheaper nut cap that when tightened down only actually grabs 2-3 threads. This is a problem /w a lot of aftermarket colored nut caps. Issues happen more often when the cap is removed multiple times and it eventually weakens the threads and/or just strips them out. If you use one of the old, taller nuts that came on some old shimanos and daiwas you will be grabbing 5-6 threads (assuming all of yours aren't stripped) and it will lock down like a vise. I don't know the drive shaft dimensions of Okuma so I can't say for sure which size (if any) will fit but it's worth a shot.

Can I get it done flipping with NRX 893c??
The 894 handles 3/8oz jigs-1oz jigs really great. 1/2oz-3/4 is the sweet spot.

Steez 100hla feedback please
That would be super. I'm wanting to put a 103 spool (34mm) in a TD-Z100 and OG Zillions. (36mm spools)

Steez 100hla feedback please
Where does one go about getting a spacer to make the 100s use a 1016 or 103 spool? Or what size/kind do you use.

Can I get it done flipping with NRX 893c??
You're definitely going to want the 894. 893 is an awesome senko and light trig rod. Not a rod I'd be flippin 3/8oz trigs or 1/2 jigs on. Definitely wouldn't be carolina rigging on it either. A good compromise is the 873. It's in between, kinda, to the 894 and 893 though it's a lot closer to the 894. The dobyns 6 power rods aren't the same across the board. IE the 766 and 746 fish very very differently. Same goes for the 735 and 745 models. Some are flipping models and some aren't. The 894 is in between the 745 and 746 power wise. 894 is faster in action.
