  1. I get out on the lake early in the morning and throw topwaters (spook, popper, frog, etc.) Then when the sun comes up I trade back and forth between a wacky rigged Dinger/Zoom finesse/Tiki Stik/other cigars, and a texas rig. When I am out into the open water, fishing deeper structure/cover I tie on my peanut butter/jelly jig with my homemade jig trailer, my Rapala Countdown or drop-shot rig. When I fish shallow I throw top waters, spinner-baits, floating jerkbaits, shallow cranks or weightless worms.
  2. no, but I would be breaking that ice up making it worth the trip! In a tournament have you ever yelled out "WOOOOOHOOO!" When you caught a big bass?
  3. No, that does sound aggrivating and embarrasing... TNP: Have you ever got jealous that your boat partner caught a big bass, that you knew that would beat you, and you deliberately cut the line, or when he called for the net you sat there dumb founded or slowly retrieved the net, and have his fish break the line?
  4. Does that apply to all Dick's Sporting Goods stores? or do you know?
  5. :-[ :-[ :-[ unfortunately... :-[ :-[ :-[ my metal jon boat intensifies sounds...especially the seat... TNP: Have you ever caught two bass on the same lure at the same time?
  6. Since we are on the subject of drawings I'd figure I'd share my drawing...It's nothing compared to most artists, but I am pleased with it. For comparison I am adding the original, and the drawing. Image drawn from (original): And the drawing:

I don't see your name up there Muddy! Anyway I would have to go with Avid... I think this would be best as a poll...don't you?
  11. No TNP: Have you ever had a decent size bass jump out of your livewell, over the side of the boat and back in the water?
  12. I have one time...ok maybe a few... ;D : TNP: Ever witnessed a bass jumping clear out of the water to grab a dragonfly (or any other insect) floating 2 feet above it? (I have! )
  13. ;D ;D no, if I have to go that bad I head for shore and use it in the woods! TNP: Have you ever broke your rod tip when trying to jerk a lure out of a tree or other vegetation?
  14. no, but I have landed one that way! Pulled him up over a branch and brought him in! TNP: Have you ever forgot to charge your battery before heading out, and while you were on the lake realize that the battery was low on power?
  15. No but my friend did! Caught a bluegill and thought it was a bass and pulled it out of the water and it landed about 10 feet behind him lol!! TNP: have you ever accidently smacked your boat partner in the face with a bait with trebel hooks tied on and it impaled him lightly when you were trying to make a side cast?
  16. No, but I have done that and it came whizzing by my boat partner and he nearly had a heart attack! TNP: Have you ever got hung in a branch, jiggled the lure out had it land in the water and just when you were going to reel it in a bass grabbed it?
  17. Sometimes : TNP: Have you ever fell off the boat when fishing for any reason?
  18. I personally don't have a favorite. But I do have some lures that I turn to in certain situations. Most of the time I throw the following: 1.) Top water frogs, poppers, etc. 2.) Zoom finesse worms (wacky) 3.) YUM Dingers and Tiki Sticks (wacky) 4.) Starting to enjoy throwing jigs (fav colors include peanut butter, jelly, brown, black/red) with my homemade jig trailer 5.) I use to throw nothing but spinner-baits but now I only throw them in the spring or late summer (fav colors are Shad patterns (black and white, white, charteruse, and green/white) 6.) Jerkbaits and some cranks 7.) and most of the time I texas rig grubs
  19. Indeed, also like tin2win said if the creek backs up into a river or large body of water, they may like the creek for spawning. Now it depends on what kind of creek we are talking about here. Is this a shallow, calm creek like you find in the back of some fast creeks or rivers, or is this a fast moving creek? If it is a slow moving creek, I am pretty sure the bass spawn in these areas and then move out to deeper water during the summer. Or the hide out in the shallow, slow moving creek to find food. If it is a fast moving one, they enjoy these also, especially small mouth. The fast currents allow food items (crayfish, etc.) to be brought downstream to them. The bass hide in the slow eddies and wait for food to whiz by the current, they then dart out to grab the food item. In other words, instead of hunting for food, the bass basically just wait for dinner to be brought to them. JMO.
  20. So true! I will give them a shot. Here's the report on Lake Orange (my home lake) http://www.dgif.state.va.us/FISHING/waterbodies/display.asp?id=98&section=fishing
  21. For my family we drew names, and just like Links_man2 we had a dollar limit of $50. And my brother in law drew me, so I told him to just get me some fishing gear. Christmas eve I opened up my gift from him to recieve two gander mountain bass fishing shirts and a box of the banjo-minnows. Other than that I got a new CD player for my truck from mom and dad and a gift certificate to Best Buy to get it installed, and a pair of slippers (that I am wearing now lol) and a house robe with fish on it 8-) I drew my brother's name and I got him a $50 gift certificate to gander mountain. I hope everyone enjoys their christmas and has a happy new year!
  22. Oh ok. I thought that this lure would be a great one being that it mimics real fish, etc. I am sure this lure would work at my home lake where the bass feed on an abundance of gizzard shad. So would it work there? or is there still a bunch of different lures that would be better?
  23. Congrats! I bet your hooked on bass fishing now lol! I was when I caught my first bass. Good bass there! Great going! May you catch more in the future!
  24. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone enjoys their days today! Have a happy new year!! god bless
  25. Just wondering if anyone has used or heard of the banjo minnow. I got it as a gift from my brother in law for Christmas. I watched the instructional dvd and it showed the action of the lure and how it compares to a real life minnow. If anyone has any feedback on the banjo minnow I will be glad to hear it. If not then I would like to hear some insight on what yall think about it. I am going to try it out later on when it warms back up lol. God bless
