  1. I got a CD player for my truck from my mom and dad as well as a gift card to Best Buy to get it installed, also a house coat with fish on it and new slippers, I also got 2 fishing t-shirts and a BanjoMinnow fishing set (check it out at Banjominnow.com) from my brother in law and $20 from my grandma & grandpa.
  2. Merry Christmas and thank you for all that yall do! God bless
  3. Yikes! he will definately be in my prayers! God bless
  4. Happy Holidays fellas! And Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to everybody here on the board! God bless
  5. I enjoy it all but there's somethings I use for certain situations... And I don't have a 'favorite' lure, but there are some times of lures that I use more often such as YUM Dingers, ZOOM Finesse worms, starting to like Jigs, and most topwater (including Spooks, poppers, plastic frogs, and even weightless rig a worm and swim it over grass).
  6. Yall have a merry christmas now ya hear? I reckon this will be the best Christmas in this neck of the woods! Lol I wish everyone here a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!
  7. Congrats! I've got another 3 1/2 years before I graduate from college. I am attending 2 years in community college then transferring over to UVA for the last two. I've completed half of my first year, so far! Now you got your life ahead of you! Be sure to make fishing trips between work and home!
  8. Yeah I downloaded the demo version on the PC too but that was after I had already tried it on the sonar lol. Not surprised you guys won it lol! No I didn't get a chance to fish Hunting Run Lake, I had college...I have a little break now until the 7th of Nov. before my next term starts... I am sure you'll catch plenty more bass! I am kind of waiting out the winter. I am going to get a trailer for my 12' jon boat before spring that way I don't have to man handle my 200 pound jon boat by myself. Good luck!
  9. That's a pretty sweet car there! Everyone can dream of affording one however! My dad's a big 'vette fan but I perfer the Dodge Viper!
  10. may i please ask what that is and what it involves, that is if it doesnt break any forum rules lol ;D It is a tear in his disks on his vertebrae (or spine). Here's what they are talking about... http://www.chirogeek.com/000_Anular_Tear_1.htm I am sure it is painful! Might want to take it easy Catt, I hope you get well soon! God bless!
  11. I talked about it with my folks and they say that there's no way the sonar is affected during cold water. Then I found my manual and I looked in the troubleshooting section and it said that if it was giving innacurate readings or hardly any reading at all that the battery must be low. And it does make sense because I charged it once I got it during the summer I think in July...and used it the rest of the summer. So yeah I believe it was just the battery. Not to mention the times I ran it on the demo mode when I first got it, trying out how each function works and what certain modes, levels of sensitivity and how everything looked on the screen. I don't need to waste your time Wayne, I know you got more important things to do. It's in the charger now and I will pick another day either during this winter that's warm to test it out or wait until spring. The one year warranty hasn't even expired so I still got it. If it doesn't accurately read this spring then I will let you know. I truly believe it was just the battery...my mistake lol!!! Sometimes I feel like banging my head against the wall over stupid things I do lol! Thanks for the offer anyway Wayne! How's the fishing been doing? Have you had any luck?
  12. I really don't keep count..but I'd have to say about 5 times a day during the winter and only 5 times a week during the summer.
  13. Hey Wayne, the model is a Eagle Fishmark 480 portable unit. Maybe the battery was dying, I will recharge it and see. I never thought that cold water would have any influence either, but I do remember reading one article about cold water and sonars, I don't remember if I read that it helped or hurt it... That's probably it, the battery is running low...it would make sense to me.
  14. lol! There are some dumb people in this world, and this has proved it!!
  15. I headed out to my home Lake (Lake Orange) yesterday evening where the air temp was 50 and the water temps was the mid to upper 40s. I launched my boat and immediately noticed my sonar unit (which is a suction cup mount) was giving an inaccurate reading of 8'9" no matter where I went on the lake. I even went to the dam where I knew it was 25' deep (because over the summer my sonar gave the reading) and the sonar still showed 8'9" water...It displayed the temperature correct: 45 degrees at the surface, but the sonar readings were wrong. I read in an article I believe for the North American Fishing Club magazine that I get that cold water temps makes the sonar read inaccurately or something. Does anyone have any idea? And at what water temps is the sonar going to function properly? ps: I made sure I had everything set up correctly. The suction cup was in place right and everything, so it wasn't the set up.
  16. Amen to that Sam! However I do sometimes hit the lake on "warm" winter days when the temps are above 50s. I tried yesterday at my home lake (Lake Orange) and the day would have been good if I had a fully charged battery for my trolling motor (thought I had already charged it) and my sonar could work in water temps in the mid to upper 40s. For some reason the depth finder was giving me an innacurate reading of 8'9" no matter where I went on the lake...even at the dam where I knew it was 25-30 feet there. I had the suction cup mount securely on the side with the transducer in the water pointing down, but still it gave a weird reading. It repeated itself because I was moving (heading out towards the dam) and it showed little fish constantly near bottom.... With my sonar not working properly I was 'blind' so to speak. I flipped my jig around a little near bank (it was evening) and I tried the rip-rap on the dam and some deeper cover but I never got bit. Normally I am not a big winter fisherman, but the temperature was tempting yesterday, but now that I know my sonar doesn't work in water temps below 50, I am waiting until spring.... God bless
  17. I usually texas rig them with a 3/16 ounce or 1/4 ounce bullet weight (depending on depth of water) or weightless texas rig. You can also try them on a carolina rig or any other way. Experiment, you can't go wrong! 8-)
  18. OMG LOL! I am doing my own but with my friends as the elves and I am putting it on myspace lol!!! ;D ;D ;D
  19. naughty naughty santa lol!
  20. John J. replied to Ky_Lake_Dude's topic in Everything Else
Yeah I think that has been posted on here quite a few times Still a good trick to pull on people! ;D ;D
  21. If there's any pockets or any break in the lily pad canopy, I would cast there. Otherwise like Wayne said just cast a frog or weedless topwater lure on top of the pad and slightly move it. Otherwise cast to the edge of the pad line and work that. Good luck!
  22. LOL! Nah I am at home enjoying my free time lol. I am planning on hitting the water Wed. as it is going to be a high of 54 and hardly any wind. I understand, water is more dense and that it cools much more slowly and not as dramatic. I didn't go those days because I had school...I took final exams on Thurs and Fri and I think I passed them all! Right now I've got a break from now until Jan 7th when my next term starts and more classes. So I am planning on doing a little winter fishing (something I've never done). I usually stay home this time of year, but after watching the bassmaster's tour on tv yesterday morning, it made me anxious to go fishing lol! And in the tournament it was in the pre-spawn period down in Lake Amistad. And they were throwing swim-baits, jigs, and other things in water around 15-30 feet deep. So when I go on Wed I will target drop offs and deep water structure/cover with my depth finder and see what I can get. If anything I will hit the dam and fish there (since it runs about 30-40 feet deep). And I will try the soft-jerkbait, a peanut-butter jelly jig with my homemade trailer (craw-tail) and even throw a carolina-rig or drop shot rig.
  23. Kudos to you Glenn! Outstanding work! I like the new look, very well done!
