I am a UFC fan also, but I couldn't order it because we contacted Indemand and they had me and dad on a 20 minute hold, which we called like 15 minutes before the thing started and the hold lasted through the first part. So I gave up... But I heard and read about what Frank Mir did to Lesnar.
  2. For those of you near the Fredericksburg area, there will be a lunar eclipse totally visable on Feb. 20th from 8:30pm until 10. The planet Saturn will be located to the left of the eclipsed moon. You can read about it here.. http://www.fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2008/022008/02072008/350105/index_html?page=2 I am looking forward to it!
  3. yeah I seen that...my personal opinion...it coincides with the show "Life after people"...once we bring the dinosaurs back they will eat us all and then the world will be in the same situation as in "Life after people" ;D Personally, I think the past is the past and we need to leave it all alone
  4. Experimented with some laminates and made some more worms with my new Frog, Senko, and Finesse Worm type molds. Some combos came out better than others. I will sure put some use into these this spring/summer/fall. Black Finesse Worms with Yellow Tails: Black frogs with Yellow Tails: Black Senkos with Yellow Tails: My favorite...Junebug Finesse Worms Junebug Frogs: and Junebug Senkos: Tried to laminate finesse worms, they didn't come out like the laminates you can buy from stores, but they will hopefully work: another favorite...Pumpkin finesse worms, and senkos: Tried a hand at laminating Senkos....: Some Watermelon Seed Finesse Worms: and ditto for frogs: then tried laminating watermelon frogs with pearl tails: I will be sure to make more, and hopefully with some experience become better with making laminates... What do yall think?
  5. Hey all, I am currently looking for a trailer for my 12' v hull jon boat. The boat itself is like 150 pounds it seems like and it is a hassle trying to manhandle the thing out of the bed of the truck... I was thinking of this model here: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=5002 But I am not 100% certain that this will fit my need. I mean It says that it fits 12' and 14' boats. The width for the entire trailer is 50", which is 2" larger than my jon boat (48"). It is on sale now...would this be a good trailer to purchase? or should I look for a better one? PS: This model REQUIRES assembly.
  6. This is just a rough sketch for me. I am still going to go back and finish it up with color and a bit more detail. dsaavedra and 5#bluegill those look great!
  7. aka Ice Age! Hopefully with these warmer temperatures that are about to hit us, they will thaw the lake. You could probably do what russ did last year: Break the ice with the boat, paddle
  8. What grinds my gears is when people won't stay off the sidewalk!!! I mean how am I going to get to school traveling behind so many cars on the road? and the only route that I can take without being late is the sidewalks! But because of these idiots I am late anyway! Just kidding!
  9. that sucks. We are going to get some warm temperatures tomorrow, tue and wed. Monday they are calling for a high of 68, tue high of like 71 and wed back down to like 65. Hopefully those warm days will help out. When we had the drought over the summer our pond and local lakes were down by like 4 foot or more. But since November rains have come through, everything is filled back up. But in your case it looks like the optimum opportunity to go ice fishing!
  10. The pond is about an acre in size and the deepest end is 7'. The pond is fed by a stream that is fed by an underground spring. Even during the summer the deeper water of the pond is cold! The only thing that gets warm is the surface layer or the shallow end. There is very little weed growth in the pond. The only weed growth is grass and it is primarily in the "spawning cove". The pond has a cove off to one end that is shallow and it extends into deeper water. There have been a few bass who have perished. I've found their bodies floating sometimes. I was just asking if he would survive and if there's any possibility that he/she would spawn come this spring.
  11. Yep WV won it! Even though I've never seen so many penalties in one single game!! :o :o
  12. I've never heard of that...but I have heard of people licking poison dart frogs to get the same reaction. Poison dart frogs secrete a toxin out of their skin to prevent predators from eating them. The only thing I think that you will get when you lick a catfish would be a mouthfull of badly tasting catfish slime. But I guess some catfish secrete the same toxins...JMO
  13. Ok, I think I posted this before but I am not 100% certain. Anyway, over the summer I went fishing with my brother's ex-wife's brother in law. And we were catching bass to stock my 1-1/2 acre pond. Well while on the outing his first bass happened to be a small mouth bass! but the rest of the time I caught largemouth and the pond is stocked with mainly largemouth. Not thinking of the small mouth not having any effect, I threw it into the pond. Since the pond is primarily largemouth and the small mouth is the only one in the pond, will it happen to spawn come this spring? Can it cross breed with largemouth or is it in for an uneventful spring spawning? I will try to go this summer and catch more smallies to give it company. What's yalls input on this?
  14. Their dorsal fins are not poisonous, instead it is a spinal bone that is razor sharp and it can cut you well, they have small teeth much like bass, but a catfish's bite is pure power (it will crush your fingers if it is a big cat). The way I handle them is to slide the tissue between my thumb and my pointer finger up under the dorsal fin, the sharp point is on top, and wrap my fingers around the cat's belly. If it is a big cat, then use either gloves or a net!
  15. I use a 3/0 gamakatsu finesse hook and I wacky either 4" or 5" Yum Dingers, Wave Worm's Tiki Sticks, ZOOM Finesse worms, or any other cigar baits. The technique I use is to pitch or flip them into cover and let them sink for a little bit and WATCH YOUR LINE! As your lure sinks the line will appear to just go away or dissappear, when a bass strikes, the line will either twitch or begin to run (usually both; Twitch and then run). Set the hook then! For reccomended colors, I like junebug, cotton candy, watermelon red, Pearl White, Red Shad, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon seed, smokin' shad, natural blue, or bull frog.
  16. Well John is my real first name, and J. is just an abbreviation for Jones. To me "John J." looks and sounds better than "John Jones" as a screen name.

Great going Skins! My brother in law is a die hard Skins fan! I know he is delighted to know they've won!!!
  18. This site has been very helpful for me as a bass fisherman. I came to this forum not knowing a single thing, but since I spent about two years on this board and read the articles, I've learned a lot. Now granted this year, things have been a little rough concerning me and some past mistakes, but I am greatful that the future is ahead and new memories can be made. I am looking forward to starting the '08 fishing year as I head out for my new PB! I would greatly like to thank Glenn and the mods for making this site as enjoyable and informative as it is! Keep up the great work, I know many countless hours of work and time has been put in keeping this board up, running and enjoyable for all members! God bless all!
  19. my god lol! I bet that paint job cost a pretty penny! That would be a truck that I would fear of getting muddy, dirty, scratched or dented!
  20. $28 a gallon for plastic? You using plastisol right? Where are you ordering your plastic from? For me it's like $40 bucks a gallon for plastic at Barlows...
  21. Happy new year to everyone on the board! Will be seeing yall next year! ;D
  22. We are throwing a little party here at the house. Family and friends are coming over and we are shooting pool, throwing darts and snacking on finger foods. Just having a good ol' time!
  23. Mines the following: 1.) Catch a new PB 2.) Learn to fish deep structure 3.) Finish my fishing rod rack that's been kept up in the shop for so long... 4.) Pour plenty of "Horny Toad" like frog lures, finesse worms and senko type lures of many different colors and combinations. 5.) Get a trailer for my jon boat!
