  1. Go with Yozuri Hybrid Original. You won't be sorry. Treat it with KVD line conditioner and it will last you a very long time. Great stuff, and very economical. Good luck!!
  2. Everyone so far has mentioned it. Lighter, nail clippers, tip of a pocket knife blade. Very easy and quick.
  3. Thanks for the report George. Amazing how you came across the same fish twice!!
  4. My story is pretty funny. I go to work pretty early in the morning. In this particular morning, I was relaxed listening to my audio book and I reach a red light. I'm behind a car, and another car is behind me. The light turns green, and the car behind me honks his horn. I don't think any thing of it, until the guy in the lead car swerves to his left and then proceeds to get behind me and starts honking his horn at me!! He thought I had honked at him... LOL!! Fortunately he swerved back to another lane a drove off all upset thinking I honked at him. SMH... thankgoodness nothing else happened. People are very short tempered nowadays.
  5. I just keep it standard. I don't think they make a difference. I used red hooks for years, switched back to nickel and my catch rate remained exactly the same. I've stayed standard ever since.
  6. I've stayed at GrapeHammock on Lake Kissimmee for the last 2 years. That's a pretty cool camp, with a lot history as well.
  7. I fished the south end out of Bell Glades on Saturday also, and the bite was on from 12:45 and died down around 3:30. We ended the day boating 26 fish.
  8. I'm all for a gameplan... but if the conditions change or dictate otherwise, I will definitely call an audible.
  9. Thank you for the report George, sounds like you had a great outing. Wtg!!
  10. Don't cast over head until you have more time under your belt using the casting gear. Its not your gear. You have to work on your release, and the weight of the lure you are using may also be a contributing factor. Magnetic brakes help you toward the end of your cast. Centrifugal brakes will assist you in the beginning of your cast.
  11. Congrats on your 1st frog catch... you caught one so now you know you can catch 2.
  12. Welcome to BR. The easiest way to reach the Miami Canal is too launch from Mile marker 35 off Alligator alley. The North and South ramps put you right on the Miami canal. Oscars hold under the willow tree branches... good luck!! Also...you might have better responses if you post this in the SE fishng forums.
  13. Another bait you may want to consider besides the ones mentioned above are Gambler Big EZ's or Ez swimmers, or bitter vibes swim baits. We see these situations alot in our lakes in FL, and these particular baits do very well in that type of vegetation and depth.
  14. Very true... both lines have good reputations.
  15. I have been a Yozuri user for years, I have heard of McCoy's and have been intrigued to try some but with 600 yard spools of Yozuri being sold just 10 min from my house at my local Walmart, the convenience is too hard to pass up.
  16. I think what you may have seen is a type of water beetle or water bug. They spin around in tight circles.
  17. I agree with GulfCaptain, just fish it. Let the time on the water with the lure be your guide.
  18. I keep my frog colors very simple. Dark tones. White underside with a brown throat is ideal for me. On really bright days, I will go black. That's pretty much it. Throw in the thick stuff, and hold on tight to your rod when the water blows up, after you have recuperated from the shock, set the hook very strong.
  19. I've been using 15lb yozuri for my lighter jig setup and it works great.
  20. My secondary frog rod that I use when I bank fish is a MH 7ft Avid. This rod has a great backbone and power to provide solid hooksets in areas with sparse to little cover. My primary frog rod is 7'3" H rod, but I only use this setup when I'm on my boat.
  21. Great finesse bait, has caught me loads of fish.
  22. Congrats on the catch, nice fish. The guess the weight game is always fun to follow because none of us will really know what the fish actually weighed... LOL!! What I can say its more than 1lb and less than 10lb...
  23. That persona had a great run... he will be missed... was so cool.. LOL!!
  24. Grub, stickbait, small fluke.
  25. Based on your limited experience so far, I would recommend a 7ft, MH, Fast, rod. This rod will cover a broader array of baits for you including a frog. As you gain more experience on the water and are looking to expand your arsenal, then look into a H rod.
