  1. I use a small piece of silicone tubing on the hook and above the trailer to keep it from sliding down. This trick has extended the life of my trailers significantly. I also use the tubing at the bottom of the bend on texas rigged worms to keep them from sliding.
  2. I have a inexpensive rod that I need a reel for. I will most likely give the Kastking Royale a try. I am impressed by all of the positive reviews and it seems that if there are any issues, the customer service is quick to replace it. I get the feeling that they are a small company that is bending over backwards (along with low price) to get their name out there and earn the respect of the customers. I can get behind a company like that. Worse case scenario, I'm out $40 for a reel. I'll report back once I get some hands on time with the reel.
  3. Looks like you got the last 2 spinning rods in that action. Nice snag. Enjoy them.
  4. Merry early Christmas!!
  5. I am sure that she will be overwhelmed by your kindness toward her What model did you end up getting?
  6. As long as you get a good deal, I'll take the heat!
  7. Just a quick update. FFO has all rods at 25% off. So the great deal with the Aetos rod at $88 is even better at $66 now!
  8. The original version that I have does not have much of a smell, the Crawfish on the other hand is very strong smelling. I have both, but I currently prefer the original due to the lack of scent (doesn't stink up my hands or the car).
  9. I personally like the Ugly Stik Lite/Elite rods. They are plenty sensitive for me and especially with your ML rod, you should be able feel the slightest nibble. I don't think that you will be disappointed.
  10. Guess that I am in the minority. I use a snap for all my fishing since I typically only bring one rod out with me. I use the spinnerbait a lot as well. Caught my PB this year on it. I do use a dental oring around the bend to keep the snap from sliding down. It works well for me.
  11. I love good customer service...makes the world a better place.
  12. For my lipless cranks, I am also using circle hooks, same as you. Just have to remember do the side sweep and not set the hook in a regular manner.
  13. That's a pretty good deal. But keep a lookout for the same reel at Dicks. A couple of years back, when they were discounting the Patriarchs, I got a couple for $75 each. They may repeat the sale again.
  14. I have single hooks on my lipless crankbaits and they work great. I don't have to worry about the hook pulling out as much with the single hooks. I also tried them on some of my topwater baits. I've had mix results with the topwater. It seems that they miss my topwater baits quite often and will not fully get the single hook. So on some of my topwater baits, I've reverted back to trebles just in case they are missing the bait.
  15. I have the 4lb Omniflex on my ultralight that I use to catch bluegills. I accidentally caught a 10 lb catfish once and the line held up...it might had a lot to do with the loose drag, but the line did not break while I was fighting the catfish. The line is stronger than I expected.
  16. That was one of the things that I didn't like about the rods is the locking nut. It didn't seem to tighten down as well as the Fuji reel seats.
  17. Fantastic bass. What did you catch it on??
  18. I just got back from a 3 day trip at Okeechobee last weekend. That lake is tough right now, apparently they had a record amount of rain earlier this year and it jacked up the water level there and also muddied it up. We caught some fish but it was not as productive as it had been in the past.
  19. I like the Supremes over the Presidents because of the magnesium frame.
  20. Sounds like the fee is only for launching a small boat. If you are bank fishing it doesn't sound like you would need to pay.
  21. I just picked up the 7'6 Ugly Stik Striper rod. It is a blast to catch fish when you have to work to bring them in instead of just winching them in.
  22. Congrats. Now go get a scale so that next time you'll know for sure!
  23. Good thing about Dicks is that you can return it to the store if you don't like it.
  24. I've used up to 15 lb mono on a Zebco 33. As long as your lures are more than 3/8 oz, you shouldn't have an issue casting. Also are you going with guides? Wouldn't they have spinning set ups that you could use?
  25. Hey guys, I have a rod with a reel seat nut that seems to come loose every so often. I was wondering if there is a way to add a locking ring on top of the nut to keep it from backing out? I was hoping that there was a way to do it without removing all the components on the rod. Any suggestions? Thanks!
