  1. My Spartacus magnets do not touch the spool and it works just fine.
  2. Dicks and Walmart typically puts their lures/rods on clearance around end of Feb/March before the new stuff comes in.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I just looked at the diagram for my Spartacus. The spring washers are behind the clicker while in the Speed Demon, the spring washers are inside the clicker. I wonder why they are different....
  4. I have 2 regular Spartacus reels and they have worked well for me for all kinds of fishing. I also had 2 times where the thumb bar engaged mid cast when i was flinging pretty hard. But I checked the gears and there were no damage done....so no big deal. I think that the reel is a great deal for the price. It is almost identical to the Assassin except for the carbon handle and drilled spool. But for $10 more, the carbon handle is worth it if you like that sort of thing. Don't be fooled by the 11+1 bearings though. 6 of the bearing are in the handle knobs. Don't understand why you would need that many bearing in a knob. But I think that you will be happy with your reel for flipping and pitching.
  5. Some times the bass will hold on to a plastic lure long enough to swallow it....imagine that.
  6. I may have had bass spit out my lures in fractions of a second but I never knew it. In the end, ignorance is bliss. I can't get too mad over something that I didn't even know took place.
  7. Nice deal on the Pflueger Supreme XT 30 spinning reel.....only $66. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LDYK7CS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=e4b7f64cd9ee11e7844e42e834a7e0140INT&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
  8. Sounds like your anti reverse is not engaged. Usually at the bottom of the reel there is a switch to turn it on and off.
  9. Just stopped by DSG. There was a sign that River2Sea lures were on sale for $9.98. I saw a whole bunch of 110 size whopper ploppers in all the popular colors. Got one in black and one white. Hope that you have the same deals in your area.
  10. And coincidentally Shimano makes both bike components and fishing reels
  11. So when you guys say clean the reel, do you mean take it apart down to the gear?
  12. Thanks. I appreciate it. I will PM you.
  13. Wish I could have gotten in on this deal. Oh well, next time.
  14. Typically people talk about coloring the end of their braided line when they are using bright colors like white or yellow. Those colors are not natural in the water. But a black or dark line could more resemble a stick or grass that fish would not care as much about.
  15. Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions. I will use it for a bit and hope that the line will even out.
  16. I am using an arbor knot to tie to the spool (20lb mono). And I am reeling the line straight in as I am walking no real side pressure. I just checked the pawl cap and it is snug. It's not a huge deal. But I am a bit OCD when it comes to stuff like this.
  17. I just spooled up my Abu Garcia C4 round reel. I noticed the line bunching up on the right side of the reel, so I hooked the line to a tree and walked the line out and reeled back in....the line is still uneven favoring the right side. I read from other threads that it might be a worn paw. But this is a brand new reel, so it is unlikely that the parts are damaged/worn. Are there other adjustments that I should make/check?
  18. Is the toothpick supposed to keep the trailer from sliding down the hook?
  19. I'd give the lefty reel a shot. Based on what you said, I bet it will feel more natural to you.
  20. That is a beetle spin. Put a small grub or 2" worm on it. It will catch pan fish and bass.
  21. I have been using the spring bait keepers on my wacky rig. It holds the baits well and keeps it from ripping apart. The only minor thing is that there is a small piece of wire sticking out of the bottom if the worm is not thick enough. This solution is good for senko style baits but may not work if using the thinner worms (e.g. Zoom trick worm, Roboworm).
  22. Great job. Hope that you have many more like tonight.
  23. A beaver tail slap sounds a lot like a 10lb bass doing a belly flop. Fooled me a few times too many.
