  1. It's hard to believe that a couple of years ago you could get the Fuego's on eBay for $50 - $55. I should have jumped on a few back then.
  2. I might be reading it wrong, but I don't understand why you would be breaking the braid. If the lead is stuck, the 15lb copoly should break off and you should get your braid back. But you can try using a 3 way swivel and a cylinder weight to keep from hanging up.
  3. I use 3/0 on the 4 inch so a 2/0 should work for the 3 inch yomama.
  4. Yup, if you have the right technique, you can throw additional weight (up to a limit) safely.
  5. If your current rod works for you, then just stick with it. Once you feel like you need a heavier action then look for a new rod. I think that your TP1 is plenty for your frogging.
  6. I agree with Teal, it's not really accurate to go by the listed ratings. Some rods can handle a lot more than the listed weight. But don't go swinging for the fence on the first cast. Do a gentle lob cast to see how much the rod bends. You'll be able to get a feel of whether the lure exceeds the rod's limits. My bet would be that your rod can handle the extra .25 oz.
  7. I got a stupid question. If you texas rig a swimbait, what's keeping it upright on the retrieve?
  8. I guess I was wrong. I didn't think that it was possible for all the fishing stuff to be bought up. But it looks like all the retailers are in the same boat. But I don't understand who would buy 50lb big game line from Walmart. What kind of fish are they trying to catch?
  9. I do for my wacky rigs if i need to add a little weight. I just use a sinker weight, typically 1/8oz or 1/4oz.
  10. I really enjoy this thread. I have trouble slowing down. I always start off at the beginning of every fishing trip with the goal of slowing down but by the end of the trip I always be back to my old habits. I guess part of it is that I just have too many baits that I want to try. So it is really difficult to slow down. I sometimes wish I have less tackle to make things less complicated.
  11. My Walmart was pretty bare a few weeks back. But tonight the shelves are starting to be restocked. The rods and lines are still empty though. I cannot believe that all the empty shelves are purchased by fisherman. They had some stuff like 50lb Big Game line in solar green that no one ever bought before and is now empty. I think Walmart must be doing something else with the merchandise. Maybe they are sanitizing everything and then putting them back on the shelves??
  12. Walmart used to carry a daiwa rod that was 7 foot 6 heavy action and telescopic. Daiwa may still make the same rod under a different name.
  13. Are you going to be using large deep diving cranks? If so, the lower ratio reels would be helpful. But if you are planning to use mid depth cranks, 6 or 6.5 ratio should be fine.
  14. I use circle hooks on my wacky rigs. Very few lost fish no matter how many times they jump. Just have to remember to reel set instead of a regular hookset.
  15. Would the bullet weight rest against the ring?
  16. Or you can try a rubber cap for table legs at Walmart. $2 for 4. You just have to match up the size. https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-Round-Rubber-Tip-Chair-Leg-Caps-Floor-Protection-Pad-White-4-Pack/16782106
  17. Just found a vid on Youtube. He suggested using shrink tubing. Looks like a cheap fix.
  18. I have a Shimano Sojourn with a locking collar to hold the reel in place. I notice at times that the collar will back out slightly and make the reel wobble. Is there a way to make it more secure? Also the metal collar will scratch the reel foot when I tighten it down. Is that avoidable? Here is a link to the picture of the locking collar for the Sojourn rod. http://fish.shimano.com/content/fish/northamerica/us/en/homepage/Shimano_Product_Page.P-SOJOURN_CASTING_17.html
  19. Gotta love it when things around the house become multipurpose!
  20. What size Jitterbug do you plan on using? If you are throwing the 3/8 or 5/8 oz, the 15 lb line and MH rod should be just fine. I use 12 lb line and MH on mine.
  21. What did you do differently this time compared to before?
  22. I use the 4" in black blue flake. I use it on a swinging jig head with great results.
  23. Or if you are in a pinch, use the body of a fat sharpie marker.
  24. At the bottom of the page, there is a Subscribe and Save section. Just enter you email and wait for a coupon. It might take a few hours to get the email.
  25. What size are the spooks? I don't see it listed anywhere. Nevermind, just saw that they were 3/4 oz.
